star ocean: till the end of time
  playstation 2 walkthrough

After the opening title sequence, you’ll be asked to set basic controls and select a level of gameplay: Earth (Easy), Galaxy (Standard), or Universe (Difficult). Note that Earth level prevents you from collecting any Battle Trophies throughout the game. Once you’ve made your selections, the game begins.

GRANTIER RESORT HOTEL

* Items: Rossetti Performance Ticket, Shake

An opening scene introduces you to Fayt Leingod, Star Ocean’s main hero. You can change his name in the Status >Options menu anytime during the game. When you gain control of Fayt, enter the room Sophia just came out of (105) and examine the trashcan in the lower left corner. This will trigger the first of several optional events (called Private Actions) that you’ll come across throughout the game. These actions, should you choose to participate in them, affect Fayt’s relationships with people either negatively or positively. When the event ends, leave the room.

You can explore the other guest quarters on this floor or just enter one of the Transporter Rooms on either end of the hallway. Speak to the Hotel Employee inside then step on one of the pods to be transported to the hotel’s first floor.

Exit the 1st floor Transporter Room to reach the main lobby. Enter the room in the northeast corner to trigger a scene wherein you’ll meet Peppita Rossetti, member of a performance troupe. During the scene, you’ll be asked to comment on Peppita’s chance for fame. Your response will make her happy or angry, but either way, she’ll give you a ROSSETTI PERFORMANCE TICKET. When the scene ends, return to the lobby and enter the room in the southwest corner. Use one of the transporter pods here to get to the hotel’s Private Beach.

Once there, speak to the people you see on the sand, especially the Flirt who asks about your relationship with Sophia. If you choose the first or second option, you’ll see another PA later on. Selecting the 3rd option, however, increases Sophia’s affection towards you. Afterwards, head east to find Fayt’s parents lounging near the shore. Talk to them then return to the Transporter Room. Depending on how you responded to the Flirt’s question earlier, you may or may not see a scene there. Either way, use the transporter to return to the main lobby.

Explore three chat rooms to the south if you like; otherwise, enter the large room in the center of the lobby. Once there, examine the blue, spinning replicator device in the lower left corner to receive a SHAKE. Afterwards, examine the ID panel next to the door in the top right corner to trigger a scene. When given the choice, persuade Sophia to join you in a battle simulation. Select the top option twice to automatically enter the chamber.

A menu pops up explaining how to set up your memory card to keep track of Battle Trophies collected during the course of the game, as well as other battle mechanics. When you’re ready to begin the simulation, select “Start Game” from the menu. If you win the first battle, you’ll have the option of fighting another one. Winning the 2nd battle, gives you the option of fighting a 3rd and final battle. Whether you win or lose, an event halts the practice session.

When you regain control of Fayt, leave the simulation chamber and head back out to the hallway. Watch a scene then return to the Rossetti Troupe’s waiting room to warn them about the attack. Afterwards, go down to one of the Transporter Rooms to learn that all pods have been redirected to the Emergency Shelter. Step on one to go there.

When you arrive, you’ll find your first Save Point, which activates as soon as you approach it. Save your game then leave the Transport Room. Watch a scene in the adjoining corridor, during which you’ll fight your first real battle. The enemies are weak and should pose no problem. After defeating them, Peppita arrives and helps in two more battles. Watch the scene that follows.

EVACUATION FACILITY

When you regain control of Fayt, leave the Transporter Room and head south down the hallway until you reach Room 506. Inside you’ll find a Save Point. Use it if you want then explore the other rooms. There’s an Expelian in Room 502 who will heal you if you speak to him. To advance the story, go to Room 509 and watch a scene involving Peppita’s troupe. Afterwards, return to Room 506 to trigger another scene. When it ends, examine the bed and choose to rest.

Upon waking, leave the room and head east. Speak to Peppita in the hallway near her room then continue further to the Transport area on the right side of the facility. Step on one of the pods to get to the transport ship, Helre.

TRANSPORT SHIP HELRE

Exit the ship’s Transport Room to reach the Central Starboard Corridor. From here, head north towards the observation deck to trigger a scene. Afterwards, speak to the people milling about and use the Save Point or just exit through the western door to get to the central corridor again.

Once there, enter the 2nd door on the left. Approach the stairs to trigger a scene involving an angry man. When it ends, return to the corridor and speak to Peppita then go back to the lounge. Watch a scene involving the captain, who announces that all passengers should proceed to the escape pods. To reach them, leave the lounge and return to stairwell you visited earlier. The stairs are no longer blocked so ascend to the Upper Starboard Corridor.

Head north and enter the 1st door on the left. Follow the hallway to the next door you see. Enter and speak to the captain on the bridge. Return to the corridor and head south to find people waiting near the escape pods. It seems that no one can leave yet so take the stairs back down to the Central Corridor. Once there, talk to Peppita and her troupe members, alerting them to the fact that there may not be enough pods for everyone to escape. Take the stairs back up and head down to the escape pods which are now ready to board.

Approach any one of the pods to trigger a scene, during which you’ll have the option of reviewing the Underdeveloped Planet Preservation Act. Afterwards, you’ll land on Vanguard III.

PESOTTO FOREST

* Items: Simple Sword
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

During the scene, Fayt obtains a new weapon, the SIMPLE SWORD, which is automatically equipped. When you take control, you’ll notice a new element on screen – the map percentage gauge. From now on, completing area maps gains you an item - in this case a 1/144 SCALE BUNNY, which increases the party’s speed by 5%. Note that collecting additional 1/144 Scale Bunnies will not further increase the party’s speed (it’s a one-time deal) however others can be sold for 9,000 Fol apiece. You won’t be able to complete the entire forest map until a bit later so just fill in as much as you can for now.

First, use the Save Point next to the escape pod then go out and fight a few enemies. If you get low on HP or MP, you can restore it by touching the escape pod. Once you level up, you’ll acquire the skill “Blade of Fury”. Equip it right away because it will help a lot in battles.

Head northwest to reach the second area of the forest. Once there, continue heading north until you reach a group of people roaming about. They will not let you pass so head east until a scene takes over. When you awake, you’ll be in the village of Whipple.

WHIPPLE VILLAGE

* Items: Blackberries x2, Blueberries, 600 Fol, Aquaberries

When you regain control of Fayt, leave Niklas’ house and explore the village. The yellow arrows on your map indicate private homes, green ones are shops, and purple arrows are establishments (such as Inns) where you can rest for a fee. The small dots on your map show people you can interact with.

There are 2 private homes next to Niklas’ house. Talk to the people inside if you like; otherwise head up the stone stairs to the village’s main road. Look behind the well on the right to find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Next to the chest is the Village Chief’s house. Enter and look towards the back of the room for another chest containing BLACKBERRIES. You will also find a Save Point here. Leave the house and head west. Pass the Inn and enter the Private Home next door. Open a chest near the fireplace to get some BLUEBERRIES then return to the street. Look under the tree next to the house for a chest containing 600 FOL.

To the left is another private home. Entering it triggers a brief scene involving an adolescent girl. Look behind the large boulder next to her house for a chest with AQUABERRIES. Now, head south and enter the door marked by a green triangle. This is the local shop where you can stock up on a few items and buy some Ring Mail for Fayt, which increases your defense. When you are finished exploring, return to Niklas’ house to trigger a scene. Once you get your sword back, leave the village via the western exit.

PESOTTO FOREST / WHIPPLE VILLAGE

Return to the Escape Pod. Watch a scene that occurs there then travel back to Whipple. Enter Niklas’ house and watch a scene during which you will rest. In the morning, watch another scene then leave the house. Visit the Village Chief to save your game then return to Pesotto Forest.

The route that was previously blocked by bandits is now clear, so you can finally complete the map of this area. Try and do that before heading on. Make sure you walk along the walls to get smaller parts of the map. When ready, head north and enter the Coffir Ruins.

RUINS OF COFFIR

* Items: Blueberries x3, Cooking Ingredients x2, Blackberries x3, 200 Fol, Aquaberries x3, Ripe Berries, Fresh Sage
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

From the entrance, head west to find 2 chests containing BLUEBERRIES. From there, head east into a set of ruins to find a chest with COOKING INGREDIENTS inside (you cannot do anything with these yet but they come in handy later on). Just above the ruins, to the north, you’ll see a wall with a large, red number ‘2’ painted on it. Follow this wall east to find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Now, head north from the number 2 wall to reach the next area.

Move forward until you can turn left. Go across the bridge and enter the next set of ruins. You’ll find a chest containing 200 FOL near a wall with the number ‘5’ painted on it. Head back across the bridge and go north to the next area.

Once there, travel east to the next area. Continue forward until you can veer south where a couple of enemies guard some stone archways. After defeating them, enter each archway to find 3 chests within the ruins. The first two contain AQUABERRIES and the third chest contains BLACKBERRIES. Once you’ve collected the items, head south down a set of steps to reach the next area. Enter the ruins to the east to find a partially hidden chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Now, travel west to get back to the first area.

From here, head north through the areas you already explored to get to a new area further north. Cross the small bridge to the east and enter the patch of ruins slightly further up if you want to kill a few more enemies and complete another portion of the map. Afterwards, return to the previous area. Head north then veer east into another set of ruins to find 2 chests. One contains AQUABERRIES and the other, BLUEBERRIES. Exit these ruins and continue north through the archway.

Now, head west into some more ruins to find a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. There are some new, mushroom-looking enemies in this region called Shriekers. They drain MP so watch your levels carefully when you fight them (remember, you can die from either HP or MP reaching zero in this game). After defeating them, head north to the next area.

Head west around the waterway until you reach a tree. Behind it is a chest containing FRESH SAGE. Backtrack to the previous area and head east to the next screen. Go north until you reach a new area. You’ll be facing a long building with a locked door. Move west along the edge of the building until you reach a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Note the red number ‘6’ painted on the wall above. Backtrack to the front of the building and head east this time.

Heal up before approaching the 3 people in back as you’re about to encounter your first boss battle. When ready, approach the group to trigger a scene.

BOSS >> Buster
HP 250 / MP 11

BOSS >> Makafy
HP 300 / MP 13
Drops: Beat-up Textbook

BOSS >> Tepeki
HP 200 / MP 9
Drops: Jewel of Avarice (rare)

Strategy: These three are not that much harder than the enemies you’ve been fighting within the ruins. If you equipped Blade of Fury, use it in the middle of the group then try some Cancel combos on them individually. They should fall quite easily.

After the battle, you’ll receive a Beat-Up Textbook. This allows you to learn the “Standard AAA” Anti-Aura attack, which basically stuns an enemy while standing still. When ready, enter the door next to the defeated foes to reach Norton’s Hideout.

NORTON’S HIDEOUT

* Items: Jewel of Refuge, Fresh Sage, Music Box Parts

Head south until you reach a large room. The Skeletons here will not give you a hard time if you use your new aura skill to Stun them, which buys you enough time to blow them away. Once the room is cleared of enemies, search the northern alcove for a chest containing a JEWEL OF REFUGE. Check the opposite side of the room for a chest containing FRESH SAGE. Afterwards, head south down a hallway.

At the intersection, go west until you reach a room with a Save Point. Use it then examine the console in the upper left corner. You’ll be asked to enter a 3-digit password. This relates to the red numbers you saw on the walls of the ruins earlier. In case you forgot them, the password is 256. If entered correctly, you’ll hear a door open somewhere. Backtrack to the intersection and head east. Once you enter the newly unlocked door, a scene takes over.

BOSS >> Norton
HP 1,600 / MP 35,800
Drops: Decrepit Tome

Strategy: This battle would be pretty difficult if it weren’t for Cliff, who joins you in fighting Norton. Cliff can pretty much take Norton out all by himself. In terms of strategy, try to avoid Norton when he sprays bullets and use Blade of Fury when he doesn’t have his guard up.

Watch a lengthy scene and when you regain control of Fayt, return to the room with the Save Point where you’ll automatically receive the MUSIC BOX PARTS. Give Fayt the tome you got from beating Norton, as it will allow him to use the symbols Healing, Antidote and Silence. Leave the hideout to trigger a scene wherein Cliff joins your party. Afterwards, head back to Whipple Village.

WHIPPLE VILLAGE / PESOTTO FOREST

* Items: Medecentra Pyroxene

After watching a few more scenes, leave Niklas’ house and head up the stone stairs. On top, you’ll overhear a couple arguing near the well. When the scene ends, enter the Village Chief’s house. Speak to the Chief to acquire the MEDECENTRA PYROXENE, a nice accessory that reduces the amount of HP consumed when using skills. Finish up any business you have in town then leave Whipple Village.

Outside, watch a scene then head back to the Escape Pod with Cliff. Once there, move towards the southwestern ledge to trigger a long series of scenes. Ultimately, the party arrives on a new planet, Elicoor II.

ROYAL CITY OF AIRYGLYPH

While on board the Eagle, speak to Mirage and Cliff several times to trigger more scenes. Eventually, you’ll be introduced to Nel Zelpher, who helps the duo escape from jail. Once you regain control of Fayt, head east down the cellblock until you run in to a couple of guards. After defeating them, the party escapes into the city’s aqueducts.

AQUEDUCTS

* Items: Worm-Eaten Tome, Ring Mail, Blueberries x2, Warrior’s Bracelet, Fresh Sage
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

Before continuing, take a moment to check out your newest party member’s stats. Nel comes with one battle skill (Shockwave) and two symbology spells (Healing and Fire Bolt). Move forward to the Save Point. Next to it, you’ll find a healing circle which, when stepped on, restores the party’s HP/MP. When ready, head east to the next area.

From here, move south until you reach a chest containing the WORM-EATEN TOME, which teaches one of your characters the Fire Bolt, Ice Needles, and Earth Glaive symbols. Once you’ve assigned this to someone, head through the doorway. Continue south through an icy archway. You’ll see a ladder on your left. Use it to climb down to the area below. Once there, go underneath the waterfall to reach 2 chests containing RING MAIL and BLUEBERRIES. Climb back up the ladder and head east.

In the next room, follow the southern route down to the waterway. Head east to find a chest containing the WARRIOR’S BRACELET, an accessory that increases your ATK rate by 5%. Return to the previous area and go through the door to the east. Cross the bridge and enter the door on the other side. In this area, pass through the ice to the south to reach a new area. Take out a few enemies there then head east through the doorway. Continue straight through until you get to the door heading north. Enter to find a chest containing FRESH SAGE. Now, backtrack two screens, to the room adjacent to the bridge, and head east through the ice. Enter the door beyond.

In this new area, head north and enter the upper doorway to trigger a brief scene. When it finishes, press the Circle button to walk over the slippery ice. If you run, you’ll be harmed. When you reach the first patch of dry land, head north into a chamber where you’ll find a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. Return to the icy slope and, again, walk down to the next area. Below, you’ll find a Save Point. Make sure to use it before entering the door beyond.

BOSS >> Giant Crab
HP 3,500 / MP 80

Strategy: This boss is weak against Fire so use those skills as much as you can. The Crab’s primary attacks are Ice-based, which means he can freeze you, so watch out. If he hits you while in that state, you’ll die. Once again, Cancel Bonuses are helpful and Aerial works pretty nicely as well.

After the battle, watch a brief scene then walk slowly across the slippery ice, heading east, until you reach the exit.

ROYAL CITY OF AIRYGLYPH

* Items: Blueberries x3, Aquaberries, Cooking Ingredients x3, Ripe Berries x4, Compounding Elixirs x2, Blackberries x3, Perfect Berries x2, 2000 Fol

When you regain control of Fayt, head north and take the staircase down into the city. At the bottom of the stairs, head south and grab some BLUEBERRIES from a chest near the house on the left. Enter the Private Home opposite this chest. Inside, you’ll find a chest containing AQUABERRIES. Leave the house and continue southeast into a snowy alcove. You’ll see a chest near one of the buildings. Grab some COOKING INGREDIENTS from it then backtrack to the staircase.

Once there, head southwest until you see a small set of steps near a doorway. Follow them down to a chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Return to the street and enter the Workshop next door. There’s not much to do here at the moment but workshops become an important aspect of the game later on. Leave and search next to the workshop for another chest containing RIPE BERRIES. From here head down the stairs to the left and then up a little to find a third chest containing RIPE BERRIES.

Now, return to the main road and head east until you reach a thin gap in between the buildings. Follow it through then head south to a chest holding COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. From here, go north to return the main boulevard. Ignore the Eastern Gate for now. Instead, head west and enter the Outfitter’s Shop. Conduct whatever business you have then leave and head south to the Inn. Once inside, look behind the front desk to find a chest with COOKING INGREDIENTS. Save your game here and rest up if you want then leave the Inn.

Back outside, head south then west until you reach the next street. Continue north and enter the Grocer’s Store if you need supplies; otherwise continue forward to the Tiamat Armorer on the street above. Inside, you’ll find two chests behind some green curtains. They contain BLUEBERRIES and BLACKBERRIES. The items sold here are far too expensive to purchase right now so leave the shop.

Head west until you reach a thin alley. Follow it south to a chest containing PERFECT BERRIES. Return to the main road and enter the shop on the southwest corner. The armor sold here is, once again, out of your price range so leave and enter the Private Home across the street. Behind the table is a chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Exit and head east until you get to the first street going north.

Follow it a short distance, then look to the right for a chest between two buildings. Grab COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS then continue further up the street until you reach a 4-way intersection. Take the eastern path to a Private Home near the crashed Eagle. Inside, you’ll find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Leave the house and return to the 4-way split.

Head west this time and look for a chest in a niche just before the road turns north. It contains COOKING INGREDIENTS. Next to it, you’ll find an Abandoned Temple. Enter and look for a chest holding PERFECT BERRIES. Leave the Temple and continue heading north until you reach a couple of Private Homes. Enter the one on the right and grab BLUBERRIES from the chest near the stairs. Back outside, enter the Tavern across the street.

Go upstairs and walk towards the back to find a chest containing 2,000 FOL. Leave the Tavern. Just slightly northeast, you’ll find a chest on a stoop containing BLACKBERRIES. After getting them, return to the Inn and save your game. When you’re ready to leave the city, head east and pass through the gate to Traum Mountains.

TRAUM MOUNTAINS

* Items: Jewel of Alertness, Ripe Berries, 400 Fol, Blackberries, Blueberries
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

Move forward across the snowy bridge to trigger a long scene. Once you regain control of Fayt, you can leave this area almost immediately by heading northeast or explore a little further to find some items and complete the map. If you choose to explore, start by traveling southwest.

You’ll find a chest containing a JEWEL OF ALERTNESS on the thin stretch of dirt up ahead. After getting it, return to the main path and continue forward until you reach a chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Continue along the southwest path to find a chest holding 400 FOL tucked behind a rock. Keep hugging the edge of the cliff until you get to a chest containing some BLUEBERRIES. Inside the rocks a little further north, is a final chest containing BLACKBERRIES.

Once you have all the items, backtrack to where you started and head northeast. If you want to complete the map of this area first, be warned that the Dragon Brigade Soldiers to the north (near the Airyglyph bridge) are extremely hard to defeat at your current levels. It’s in your best interest to escape battles should any contact with them occur. Whatever you decide, continue northeast from the starting point until a scene takes over. Afterwards, enter Kirsla.

MINING TOWN OF KIRSLA

* Items: Aquaberries, Perfect Berries x2, 520 Fol, Blueberries x2, Blackberries, 1400 Fol, Ripe Berries, Compounding Elixirs

After watching a scene, you’ll be inside the Inn. Go downstairs and use the Save Point then feel free to explore the town. There are three Private Homes near the Inn. Talk to Astor inside the first one facing east then head south from the Inn to find a chest containing AQUABERRIES tucked behind some crates. Go down the stairs in the southwest corner to find a Sermonous Old Man. After talking to him, return to the main path and continue south until you reach some stairs leading up to an archway. Pass under the arch to get to the other side of town.

Once there, you’ll see some steps leading down to a chest holding PERFECT BERRIES. After getting them, go back up and continue heading east. Take another set of steps down to find two more chests by a fountain. They contain 520 FOL and BLUEBERRIES. Continue further east until you reach a corner. Head north from here and look in the grass behind the building on the right for a chest with BLACKBERRIES. Return to the main path and enter the Private Home nearby. Grab 1400 FOL from a chest behind the column then leave.

You’ll find the Master Slayer Armorer across the street. Here you can upgrade weapons, buy Scale Armor for Cliff and Fayt, plus sell any old equipment. If you acquired an extra 1/144 Scale Bunny, sell it here to earn 9,000 Fol. When you’re finished shopping, leave and continue heading north until you reach a thin side street. Enter the Tavern to the west. There’s a chest at the top of the stairs containing BLUEBERRIES.

Leave the Tavern and head east down the opposite side of the street until you reach a niche between two buildings. Grab RIPE BERRIES from the chest there then go back to the main road. Head north towards the sentry guarding the gate. Look to the left to find a chest containing PERFECT BERRIES then return to the main road.

Head south at the major intersection and enter the Grocer’s Store on the left. Stock up on items if you want, then leave and continue south to the Outfitter’s Shop. You may want to purchase some Fresh Sage here if you find your party members dying a lot. You’ll find an empty Workshop slightly south of the Outfitter. As before, this will become useful to you later on in the game.

Now, head back towards the Inn and go further north to what looks like a graveyard. Look between the walls to spy on Nel, who is talking to a woman there. When the scene ends, you’ll be back at the Inn, all rested up. After saving your game in the lobby, leave the Inn and head north again, back to where the sentry was guarding the exit.

Cross the bridge and search the porch of the house on the left for a chest with COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Afterwards, continue heading north into the Kirsla Caverns.

KIRSLA CAVERNS

* Items: Blackberries x2, Scale Armor, Aquaberries, Ripe Berries, Fresh Sage, 5000 Fol, Falchion, Earth Pixie, Charm of Insight
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

Move forward until the tracks split, then follow the western path to the next area. Once there, take the northern exit to yet another area (the southern one leads to a dead end). The enemies here offer much more Exp than previous ones you’ve encountered, so spend some time fighting them to level up your characters. Note that boulders will be falling on you during battles as well, so heal up in between. Anyways, continue heading north through the mineshaft until you reach a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. The door on the right is locked so backtrack to the first area.

Once there, take the eastern path to the next area and continue straight through the next screen. You’ll come to a room with 5 switchboxes. Just note their location and proceed east across the tracks. When the track starts to curve, head south. Defeat the Skeletons guarding a chest to receive some SCALE ARMOR. Now, return to the previous area and continue along the tracks until you reach a healing circle and Save Point. Use both before entering the door.

BOSS >> Earth Smasher
HP 3,600 / MP 163
Drops: Decrepit Tome

Strategy: The Earth Smasher uses mainly earth spells that can do some nasty damage but you can avoid them easily. Also, watch out for the boulders that constantly roll across the screen. If you do not keep an eye on your HP it’s likely that someone like Nel will die easily. Have Fayt use Blade of Fury along with Aerial and you should rack up some nice damage.

Upon defeating the Earth Hauler, you’ll receive another Decrepit Tome that teaches Common Support symbols. It might be wise to give it to Cliff as he’s the only character so far who hasn’t learned Healing. After a brief dialogue scene, pull the lever on the wooden overhang to raise a gate below. Now, return to the room with the 5 switchboxes.

Once there, examine the switches and choose to read the instruction manual, which will tell you all about Haulers – creatures that you ride and give orders to. There are 5 types of Haulers to choose from and each has a specific talent or limitation:

- Steady: As the name suggests, this Hauler has a pretty good disposition and will respond to most orders given.
- Carefree: Not terribly reliable in terms of taking orders but may lead you to some interesting places.
- Whimsical: Another Hauler that won’t really listen to you, but it can jump the farthest and reach certain chests.
- Ill-Natured: This Hauler appears to do exactly the opposite of what you tell it to do.
- Aggressive: This Hauler is fast and can break through walls, gaining access to some more chests.

While riding a Hauler, try to keep your speed between 14-23 km/h so that you can respond to the special prompts on screen quickly. There are places where you can stop to hunt for chests but you have to be at 15 km/h to do so. In order to make a turn, you need to be at 25 km/h. To successfully jump, you need to be over 25 km/h so make sure to bump up the speed when coming to a jump. You will notice a stress meter on the left side of the screen. This rises by getting hit by boulders or other obstacles. If it reaches 100% the Hauler will collapse and you’ll have to start again. If you want to collect all of the available treasure in this area, you’ll probably have to ride all 5 Haulers at least once.

To reach the exit, choose the Steady Hauler. When you come to the first switch, go left. Take a right on the next switch then head left each time after that. During these switches, some boulders will fall on the tracks. Slow down when you hear the warning signals to avoid getting hit. Once you finally reach the exit, a scene takes over involving an old soldier. If you ever want to return to Kirsla via the caverns just talk to him again. He’ll offer to escort you or ask if you want to drive yourself back to the switchbox room.

BEQUEREL MOUNTAIN PATH

* Items: Blackberries, Ripe Berries, Crafting Materials, Compounding Elixir, Aquaberries, Writing Materials
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

Upon exiting the Caverns you’ll see a Save Point. After using it, head north until you can turn left. Follow the mountain path along the western edge to find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Now, return to the intersection and follow the path east until you reach an area where you can veer south. Take the southern path down to an abandoned campsite. Grab RIPE BERRIES from a chest near the tent then head back up the hill.

Back at the intersection, head further east until you reach a second intersection. Take the northern path up to chest containing CRAFTING MATERIALS. While here, you’ll notice a mining entrance to the north. You’ll be coming back to this area later in the game but feel free to explore it now if you want to fight two fairly powerful enemies inside. Either way, head southeast down the mountain.

When you reach the gated area, follow the mesh barrier northeast. Pass between the pieces of mesh on top and move further north. You’ll find 3 chests up here. They contain COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS, AQUABERRIES, and WRITING MATERIALS. After getting the items, head back down, moving south past the blocked gate to complete the last part of the map and enter the village of Arias.

RIVERFRONT VILLAGE OF ARIAS

* Items: Ripe Berries, Perfect Berries, Cooking Ingredients, Multi-Flask, Aquaberries, Blackberries

Watch a scene then explore the village. First, head southeast towards a dilapidated cottage and open the chest there to get RIPE BERRIES. Just north of the cottage is Jack Potato’s General Store, which offers some nice weapon upgrades and armor. Remember, if you acquired another 1/144 Bunny you can sell it now for 9,000 Fol. After shopping, continue heading east.

Enter the Private Home to the north and look behind the bookshelf for a chest containing PERFECT BERRIES. Avoid the Mansion to the south for the moment. Instead, move further east and look near a pile of crates for a chest holding COOKING INGREDIENTS. Head directly south from here to find a large green chest underneath a tree. It contains the MULTI-FLASK, which becomes useful during the invention process later on.

Continue heading south and look behind the stack of boxes near the tree for a chest containing AQUABERRIES. Head further south, past the fountain, to find an Inn. Go ahead and use the Save Point inside but don’t bother paying to rest, as you’ll be doing it for free shortly. There’s a bakery across from the Inn if you want to buy food items. Heading west takes you to a Private Home and a Chapel you can visit.

When you’re finished exploring, head back up to the Mansion and enter. Go upstairs and enter the 2nd bedroom to find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Use the Save Point in the 1st bedroom if you like then head downstairs and enter the last room on the right to trigger a scene. When the scene ends, go upstairs to the 1st bedroom and examine the left bed. When prompted, choose to rest.

In the morning, go back downstairs and enter Claire’s room to watch a lengthy scene, wherein you’ll learn of your new objective. Prepare for the upcoming journey then head west to leave the village.

AIRE HILLS

* Items: Blueberries x3, Blackberries, Jewel of Refuge, Compounding Elixirs
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

Now, with only two party members, head south until you reach a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. Return to the main dirt path and follow it around the rocks further south, to another chest containing BLUEBERRIES. From here, head north back to the main path then head south. Veer slightly east off the path to grab a chest with BLACKBERRIES in an alcove between some rocks. Return to the main path.

Head west until you reach a clump of deadwood trees. Search among them for a chest containing a JEWEL OF REFUGE. From here, head north around the edge of the mountain until you see a chest. Grab COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS from it then continue heading north around the mountain. Veer slightly west into an alcove where a couple of enemies guard a chest. Defeat them to get some BLUEBERRIES. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you complete the map before heading west to reach the exit.

KIRSLA

Back in Kirsla, restock your supplies and rest at the Inn. When you’re ready to leave, use the south exit to reach the Granah Hills.

GRANAH HILLS

* Items: Blackberries, Blueberries, Steel Chain Mail
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

Head south down the path. Veer towards the edge of the cliff to find a chest with BLACKBERRIES. Return to the main path and continue east. Go around the rocky crevasse then head north to reach a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. Return to the main path and continue in a northerly direction. You’ll find a chest with STEEL CHAIN MAIL near some brush. After getting it, head south to get back on the main path. Continue south until you reach a large building. Enter to trigger a scene.

KIRSLA TRAINING FACILITY

* Items: Blueberries x2, Cooking Ingredients x5, Blackberries x3, Anti-Poison Amulet, Long Dagger, Aquaberries x2, Neglected Textbook, Symbol of Courage, 8000 Fol, Compounding Elixirs x2, Steel Gauntlet, Cuprite Key
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

During the scene, you will be forced into battle against some Black Brigade Soldiers. The boss battle theme is playing but these enemies are no different than the ones you’ve been fighting in the hills. More scenes follow. When you regain control of Fayt, you’ll be inside the Kirsla Training Facility.

Use the Save Point and healing circle in front of you then head west (eastern route leads to a dead-end). Enter the door at the end of the hall. Defeat more enemies then head south into the next room. In this area, you have the option of going further south or detouring east. Take the eastern route first. Follow it down to a red door. Enter.

Walk forward and search the alcove on the left for a chest with BLUEBERRIES. The other red door here leads to some Airyglyph soldiers and a chest you cannot reach yet. Backtrack to the corridor where you detoured from and head south to a new area. Keep moving south and on the next screen, head east down the corridor until you reach a doorway leading north. Enter and follow the hallway up to a red door on the right. Inside, move forward to a chest containing some COOKING INGREDIENTS. You cannot reach the other chest here yet so return to the main hallway.

Go all the way to the end then head north to the next area. Move forward then head west through archway. Continue heading west, past the first door and enter the second door at the end of the hall. Inside, you’ll find a series of shelves and tables along with a few enemies to defeat. Once the room is cleared out, go behind the bookshelves to the south. At the end, you’ll find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. In the southwest corner, locate a green chest containing an ANTI-POISON AMULET. Leave the room and return to the corridor.

Go back down to the red door you passed earlier and enter. Search near the weapons up ahead for a chest with a LONG DAGGER. On the opposite side, fight a Black Brigade soldier to get to a chest containing AQUABERRIES. You cannot access the other chests here, so go to the southwest corner of this room and enter the door there. You’ll be in a stairwell. Follow it up to the 2nd floor.

On the 2nd floor, go north. In the next area, head west through the rubble to find a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. You can enter the northern door here to fight another enemy but there’s no treasure inside. Leave the room via the eastern exit. Continue south and move through the next rubble-filled room until you reach the southern exit (the eastern route leads to a dead end). In the next area, enter the red door facing east. Grab two sets of COOKING INGREDIENTS from the chests inside. Leave the room and head through more rubble to the southern exit.

Follow the corridor west and enter the first door facing north. There’s another chest you cannot reach, so continue through the archway. You’ll be in a room with a green-tiled floor. Continue north and enter the room on the other side. You’ll find a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS there. Now, backtrack south through the rooms until you reach the lower corridor again. Once there, head west and enter the door at the end.

Move forward to the red door on your right. Inside the small room, you’ll find 3 chests containing BLUEBERRIES, AQUABERRIES and a NEGLECTED TEXTBOOK. This textbook lets your characters use the “Homing” Aura, which damages enemies rather than just stunning them. Leave the room and continue heading north up the corridor until you can turn east. Follow the corridor all the way east until you reach a room wit a locked door. Go south from here to reach the stairwell. Ascend to the Prison Level.

Once you reach the 3rd floor, go north then head west along the corridor until you reach a large door facing south. Inside you’ll find 3 cell doors. Enter the first one. After defeating the enemies inside, look in the southwest corner for a chest containing the SYMBOL OF COURAGE. Kill off enemies in the other two cells if you like; otherwise return to the northern corridor.

Head west to the end then follow the southern route all the way down until you reach a door facing east. Enter and continue heading east down the new corridor until you get to the 2nd cell door facing south. After defeating the enemies inside, grab 8,000 FOL from a chest in the southwest corner. Return to the corridor and head east to the next cell. Enter to find a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. Leave and continue south to the final cell in this area. Defeat the enemies inside before opening a chest containing COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS.

Now, backtrack to the northern corridor and head west until you reach the door facing north. You’ll find a Save Point and healing circle inside. Use both then talk to the young worker there to get the CUPRITE KEY. Leave the room and head west until you can go south. Follow the southern passage all the way down to the end. Now, take the eastern corridor until you reach a door facing north. Enter to find another row of cells.

The first cell has a chest containing STEEL GAUNTLETS stuffed between two wooden bunks. The second cell has 2 chests containing BLACKBERRIES and BLUEBERRIES. After getting the items, return to the lower corridor and head east. Enter the first door facing north. Continue through the next area until you get back to the 3rd floor stairwell.

Descend to the 2nd floor and backtrack to the stairs leading down to the 1st floor, which are in the center of your map. Once there, descend and go to the easternmost corridor. From there, head all the way north until a scene takes over. You’ll be forced into an easy battle here, after which Nel rejoins the party. Take a moment to equip her before using the Cuprite Key on the door in front of you. Once it’s unlocked, enter the elevator room. Step on the platform and select the 4th floor.

When you reach the Arena Level, exit through the door facing west. Take the hallway down to the next room. Inside, you’ll find a Save Point. Heal up and save your game before continuing through the door to the south. Outside, watch a scene during which you will be forced into an easy battle. Afterwards, the real enemy appears.

BOSS >> Shelby
HP 5,100 / MP 13,816

BOSS >> Black Brigade Soldiers x2
HP 1,150 / MP 68
Drops: Smithery Materials (rare), Jewel of Refuge (rare)

Strategy: Shelby can be a real pain to deal with if you are under-leveled. His Ice Breath can do some nasty damage. Try to take care of the Black Brigade soldiers that accompany him first so that all three of your characters can focus on Shelby. Sidekick works well on him, as do all fire-based spells.

After defeating them, you’ll see another scene. When you take control of Fayt, return to the elevator room and go down to the 1st floor. Head west, back to the entrance. Use the healing circle and Save Point there then exit the Training Facility at long last.

JOURNEY TO PALMIRA

Travel through the Granah Hills back to the town of Kirlsa. Conduct any business you have in town then take the eastern exit to the Kirlsa Hills. Head east until you reach the gates of Arias. A scene takes over upon entering. When you regain control of Fayt, head over to the Mansion. Go upstairs and rest/save before speaking to Clair in her chamber to trigger another scene. Once it ends, you will find yourself on the Palmira Plains.

PALMIRA PLAINS

* Items: Blueberries, Ripe Berries, Cherubic Bust, Aquaberries, Jewel of Refuge
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

Cross the bridge then head south towards a patch of yellow flowers. Behind them is a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. From here, head east along the ocean cliff. Go around some boulders there to reach a chest with RIPE BERRIES. Head further north along the cliff towards a cluster of trees on the left. Look among them for a chest containing the CHERUBIC BUST.

Continue further north towards the building and you’ll see another chest nestled among some low boulders. This one contains AQUABERRIES. Now follow the wall west, past the entrance to Peterny, until you reach a slope. Move down towards a patch of flowers and look to the right to find one last chest, which contains a JEWEL OF REFUGE. After you’ve completed the map, head north to the town of Peterny.

TRADING TOWN OF PETERNY

* Items: Blackberries x3, Blueberries x2, Ripe Berries, Aquaberries, 3400 Fol, Cooking Ingredients, Compact Communicator, 1000 Fol, Maiden Of Irisa

Watch a brief scene when you enter then start exploring. From the gate, head north into the central plaza. Look behind the food stand in the middle for a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Speak to the vendors in the plaza if you want to buy some basic items, or just head east to the next section of town.

Once there, take a quick right and enter the first Private Home facing east. Grab some BLACKBERRIES from the chest near the door then leave. Continue south towards the next Private Home and look in the grassy patch there to find a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. Enter the second house and pick up RIPE BERRIES from the chest near the plants. Exit and go to the end of the block. Look for a chest on the west corner. It contains AQUABERRIES. Now backtrack to the intersection.

Head east and enter the Tavern on the left. Speak to the man sitting next to the menu easel to trigger an optional event. He’ll ask if you know about the Moonshadow Clan. How you reply affects your relationship rating. After speaking with the man, exit and look to the right of the Tavern for a chest with 3,400 FOL. The gate beyond is guarded so return to the central plaza and head west.

In the western part of town, you’ll find an Inn. Ignore it for the moment. Check the food stand on the left for a chest containing BLUEBERRIES then look directly across the street for another chest with COOKING INGREDIENTS behind a barrel. There are several shops up ahead but before visiting them, go back towards the Inn and enter the door facing south.

This is the Craftsman’s Guild, where you are about to enter the fabulous world of inventing (see Extras page for detailed information). Approach the young woman behind the counter to initiate a conversation. When she asks if you’re interested in becoming an inventor, answer, “Yes I am.” As the scene continues, you’ll be given a COMPACT COMMUNICATOR and learn how to use it. You’ll also acquire 1,000 FOL and be escorted to the Workshop down the street where the tutorial continues.

When you regain control of Fayt, you can try inventing something right away by approaching the counter, however only do this if you feel pretty confident with the rules, as it can get rather costly. When ready, leave the Workshop to trigger an on-screen alert that informs you of 3 new inventors available for hire: Damda Mooda, Milenya and Mayu. From now on, you’ll see many on-screen alerts relating to the invention process. Open the Camp menu and select ‘Invention Info’ for more information as to what these alerts mean.

Go over to the Inn and save your game now if you want; otherwise head west to do some shopping. Visit the Summit Armory shop to buy some new weapons and armor for your characters. Across the street, you’ll find the Outfitter’s store. The stand next to this store sells health drinks. Further up, you may run into a little red Rabbit fellow wandering around on the street. Speak to him if you see him, as later he will have some nice items for sale. When ready, head back to the central plaza.

Move southwest towards the entrance of the Temple to trigger a brief scene, during which you can choose to explore town some more or wait there for the others. Choose to wait. During the scene that follows, Fayt receives the MAIDEN OF IRISA, which automatically replaces any accessory he has equipped in the first slot. Feel free to remove it once you regain control of Fayt, though you probably won’t want to since it’s a very nice item. After Ameena leaves, open a chest near the temple entrance to obtain some BLACKBERRIES then head back to the Inn.

Once inside, talk to the woman at the front desk to trigger a scene. Since your room is not ready yet, leave and head back to the east section of town. Go down the southern street until a scene takes over, in which Fayt sees Ameena again. Afterwards, return to the Inn and speak to Nel outside the 3rd guest room. Tell her you are finished exploring to prompt a scene.

In the morning, save your game then leave the Inn to trigger yet another scene. Head west and pass through the gate to Sanmite Steppe.

SANMITE STEPPE

* Items: Smithery Materials, Blackberries, Blueberries, Cooking Ingredients, Perfect Berries
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

It may be difficult to complete the map of this region during your initial trip because the enemies get tougher, so just try and fill in as much as you can for now. From your starting position, head north. When you reach the dirt path, head east. Go up to the Scorpion guarding a chest. Once defeated, open it to get SMITHERY MATERIALS. Return to the dirt path and continue heading north up the hill. Grab BLACKBERRIES from the chest next to the water then cross the bridge.

Head further north to find another chest containing BLUEBERRIES. Be careful when engaging the enemies up here as they can kill you pretty easily. Go back over the bridge and head southwest down the slope towards the stream. Once there, grab some COOKING INGREDIENTS from a chest near the waterfall then follow the stream down to the very end where you’ll see a chest sitting in the water. Open it to get some PERFECT BERRIES. Head northwest from the stream and enter a patch of trees to reach Duggus Forest.

DUGGUS FOREST

* Items: Compounding Elixirs x3, Aquaberries x2, Blackberries x3, Blueberries x2, Perfect Berries, Wind Pixie, Orb of Alertness, Limited-Edition Doll, 12000 Fol, Gold Figure, Alchemy Materials, Crafting Materials, Water Shielding, Heavy Armor
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

This is a large, maze-like area that you can get lost in easily, so check your map frequently to avoid disorientation. Start by moving forward and looking next to the rock formation for a chest containing COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Continue forward to the next screen where you’ll find a 4-way crossroad.

First, follow the southern route to a chest containing AQUABERRIES then look behind the rock formation further south for a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Go back to the crossroad. Now, follow the northern route until you reach a light patch of grass. Look in the opening on the right for a chest containing COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Continue further north to find a chest with BLACKBERRIES, then go back one screen and take the western path to a new area.

Here, you’ll see two exits and a chest you cannot access due to the rocks that surround it. Use the exit near the blocked chest and continue south until you reach a little Fairy creature sitting in the grass. It seems she needs some fresh spring water. Backtrack to the last pool you passed (to the north) and examine it to learn that it’s ‘glittering’. Grab some water and bring it back to the Fairy. She will help you identify trees that must be defeated in order to clear paths.

Once the Fairy joins you, head north then veer west at the rocks to find your first “hostile” tree. As soon as you approach it, a battle ensues. (Note that all of the tree creatures you face are weak against fire, so use it often for easy victories.) Once the Grapebind is defeated, move forward into the new area.

For map completion purposes, you may want to fight the Grapebind to the north; otherwise, head south until you reach a path going west. Follow it to another Grapebind. Kill it to unblock the western route and enter the next area. You’ll see a Blue Slime creature guarding a chest here. Defeat it to get some COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS then return to the previous screen. Head south until you reach an area with another Blue Slime creature. Search behind the rocks for a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. If you like, you can continue south to open up a few paths. They lead to dead-ends and ultimately bring you back to the original 4-way crossroad. If you want to avoid this detour, go north and on the next screen, head west.

Continue heading west until you reach the second area of the forest (your map will reset). There are two more chests blocked by rocks to the south, so head north. Keeping moving north until you see a chest up ahead on the right. Before approaching it, note that enemies will be tossing boulders down at you from above. If you get hit by them, you’ll be sent back to the beginning of the area. Time your approach to avoid them and open the chest to get PERFECT BERRIES. Run around the corner to the next area.

There will be a new set of boulders falling here, but this time you can avoid them by running over to the trees on the right. Keeping moving forward to two chests that can be opened safely if you are positioned behind them. They contain BLUEBERRIES and BLACKBERRIES. From here, head north into an alcove with two green chests. Grab a WIND PIXIE and ORB OF ALERTNESS from them then go back to the previous screen.

Hug the wall on the right as you pass through the boulder area to a new area in the south. Defeat the Grapebind up ahead to clear the path. Keep moving south until you can go west. This area has more falling boulders. Run under them, past the blue chest that’s getting pounded, and watch their pattern from the other side. Go for the chest when the boulders fall from a different angle or less frequently. You’ll receive a LIMITED-EDITION DOLL for the effort. Head west and defeat the Grapebind to reach the next area.

Veer left towards the cabin to trigger a scene, in which you’ll meet a sassy little fellow named Roger S. Huxley. During the scene, you’ll be forced to fight a couple of Moonshadow Clan Members but they pose no real threat. Upon defeating them, the scene continues and you’ll have to decide whether you want to take Roger with you or not. If you pass on his offer now, you will not be able to recruit him later. It’s in your best interest to bring him along at this stage. Roger starts at Level 6 so you’ll need to raise his stats a bit if you decide to put him in your main party.

When you regain control of Fayt, leave the hideout and head east. If you brought Roger with you, you’ll see a scene here and engage in an easy boss battle.

BOSS >> Moonshadow Clan Chief
HP 5,500 / MP 250

Strategy: This guy is easier to defeat than the trees you’ve been fighting throughout the forest. His moves don’t do that much damage and you can avoid them easily. It’s very likely you’ll get all the available Trophies upon winning this battle.

Watch the scene that follows, during which you will obtain the GOLD FIGURE. Once you have control of Fayt, head north to the next area then veer west past more falling boulders. You’ll end up on a cliff where you can take out some of the pesky creatures that have been hurling things at you. After defeating them, continue north to the next area.

Once there, head east to another cliff and take out the rock-tossing enemies there. Move north past the boulders and you’ll have the option of continuing north or heading west. First, take the northern route to an alcove with 4 chests. They contain AQUABERRIES, 12000 FOL, ALCHEMY MATERIALS, and CRAFTING MATERIALS. Now, return to the previous area and head west, where you’ll see big holes in the ground. Wait for the falling boulders to fill them in so you can walk across to the other side.

Once you’ve safely made it across, go east to defeat more boulder-throwing enemies or just continue west to the next area. Now, head south until you can turn east again. Defeat the enemies here then open a chest containing WATER SHIELDING. After detouring, return to the southern path and follow it until you reach a Save Point. Heal up and save your game before proceeding.

The next area is covered in fog, making it difficult to navigate and avoid the many roaming creatures. Your goal is to find a way to remove the mist. Start by moving west towards the trees, then head straight north. Heal your party before going into the area ahead.

BOSS >> Mudman
HP 8,000 / MP 500
Drops: Synthesis Materials

Strategy: Mudman is another easy boss if you’ve leveled up by fighting enough battles in this region. His attacks are slow and easily interrupted by strong combos. Just pound away until he falls.

After defeating Mudman, the fog will lift. There’s one more chest to get before rescuing Ameena. To find it, head south from the mud pool. Move towards a group of rocks and defeat the Grapebind then enter a new passage to the east. Go all the way down to find a large chest containing HEAVY ARMOR. Once you have it, return to the central area and head north.

Just before reaching the mud pool, head west into the patch of multi-colored flowers. A scene takes over as soon as you approach Ameena. If you took Roger along, he will leave while the rest of the group returns to Peterny.

PETERNY / SANMITE STEPPE

When you regain control of Fayt, you’ll be back in Peterny at Ameena’s house. Walk outside to continue the scene. Once it finishes, stock up on any items you may need before leaving Peterny via the western gate.

Back in the Sanmite Steppe, head north and cross the bridge. If you weren’t able to finish the map of this area before due to the tough enemies, you can probably do it now that your characters are leveled up. When finished, head northwest to arrive in Surferio.

LOST CITY OF SURFERIO

* Items: Machinery Materials, Aquaberries, Smithery Materials, Blueberries / Ancient Books 1-7 (Roger)

Move forward across the wooden bridge and enter the first building on the right. This is the Fairy General Store, where you can purchase herbs and a few other basic items. When you’re finished shopping, enter the Private Home next door. Search next to the bed for a chest containing MACHINERY MATERIALS then leave. Now, enter the Private Home across the street from the general store. At the back of the room, you’ll find a chest containing AQUABERRIES. Exit the house and move forward to an intersection.

Follow the northern path to a 2nd intersection. The northeastern route leads to a Private Home with nothing special inside, so head west. Take the stairs up and approach the robot leaning against a rock to trigger a scene. This defunct robot is actually an inventor named Izak whom you will be able to sign up later on. Once the scene ends, enter the Village Chief’s house above.

Talk to the girl near the table and she’ll ask if you want to rest. It’s free, so take her up on the offer. Afterwards, use the Save Point in the guest quarters then leave. The stairs beyond the Inn lead to Mosel but you don’t want to go there yet. Instead, backtrack to the first intersection (near the town’s entrance) and head southwest.

If you took Roger with you earlier, he’ll be standing near the tree along with his two siblings. Approach them to trigger a scene. Apparently, Roger needs some help finding hidden treasures. If you agree to cooperate with him, you’ll be given the ANCIENT BOOKS 1-7, which offer hints as to where these hidden treasures can be found. Take him along if you want to complete these side-quests later on.

There are 3 Private Homes on this hilltop to explore. The one facing southwest has a chest with SMITHERY MATERIALS inside and the northwestern one has a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. After grabbing the loot, leave Surferio and start heading back to Peterny.

SANMITE STEPPE / PETERNY

Head south through the Steppe back to Peterny. Once there, you can initiate a side-quest by heading to the Inn. Enter the middle guestroom and talk to the couple inside to trigger a scene. When they ask for directions to Kirsla, answer, “It’s south. Didn’t you know that?” Your goal in this side-quest is to guide Ruddle and Rumina to Kirsla by giving them correct directions each time you meet them. When finished in town, head out through the northern gate to reach Irisa Fields.

IRISA FIELDS

* Items: Jewel of Alertness, Blackberries, Magical Berries, Perfect Berries, Synthesis Materials
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny x2

Go across the bridge then veer northeast to reach a chest containing a JEWEL OF ALERTNESS. Return to the path and head north to get BLACKBERRIES from a chest on the upper mound. Head further north to another chest containing MAGICAL BERRIES, which is nestled in some rubble. The entrance to Aquios is straight ahead but before going there, you may want to explore a second area in the northwest. If so, take the low road over the western bridge to enter.

You’ll notice that the map percentage is back at 1%. This area is very small and there are no enemies to worry about, so it should be a breeze to complete the map and earn another 1/144 Scale Bunny. First, head west. You’ll see a stone stairwell up ahead. Just before reaching it, head right and look behind the tree for a chest holding PERFECT BERRIES.

Use the Save Point further up if you want, but avoid the stone stairs. They lead to the Aquatic Gardens, an optional dungeon that we’ll be tackling later on. For now, head left from the Save Point and look behind some bushes for a chest containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS. After completing your 2nd map, go back to the first part of Irisa Fields and head north to the entrance of Aquios.

SACRED CITY OF AQUIOS

* Items: 1800 Fol, Synthesis Materials x2, Blackberries, Compounding Elixirs x2, Ripe Berries, Aquaberries x3, Cooking Ingredients, Smithery Materials

Upon entering Aquios you will trigger a scene. When it finishes, there will be an alert from the guild informing you of 3 new inventors available for hire: Eliza, Grats, and Stanice. Head north across the bridge and enter the Inn on the right. Rest up and save your game then enter Ariana’s Hammer, the armor shop across the street, if you want to buy or sell things. When finished, continue north to the first intersection.

Once there, head east and enter the first door facing north. This is the Grocer’s store and fans of Final Fantasy IX will be amused to see that they have a barrel of Super Pickles here. Leave the store when you’re ready. There are four Private Homes on this block. The 2nd one facing south offers a chest with 1,800 FOL. Look inside the pantry to get it. Enter the 4th house and look behind the curtains to find a chest containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS then go inside the kitchen to find another chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Before leaving this house, speak to the nervous occupant to initiate a short event.

Back outside, you’ll see an intersection with stairs leading south and a road going north. The stairs lead down to a statue overlooking the ocean and a couple of people you can speak with. Check it out if you like, then head north up the road. Pass the house on the right and look behind the iron gate for a chest containing COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. From here, head west until you reach the main boulevard again.

Continue west to a new section of the city. Once there, look under the tree to your right for a chest with RIPE BERRIES. Continue west, past the northern detour, to a Private Home within an alcove. Inside, you’ll find a chest under the stairs containing AQUABERRIES. Exit and continue to the end of the path to find a chest with COOKING INGREDIENTS.

From here, follow the southern path to the Workshop, which already has Cooking, Compounding, and Crafting gear installed. Go around the corner and you’ll see a plump fellow in the street. This is Damda Mooda, a cook, who you can hire if you give him a bottle of Winking Cider. The doors on either side of him lead to the Outfitter’s shop, which sells all of the items invented so far.

Now, take the southern path down to a clock tower where you’ll find 2 chests. They contain AQUABERRIES and COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Enter the house next door and look by the stairs to find a chest containing some more AQUABERRIES. The Private Home below this one has a chest on top of the stairs containing SMITHERY MATERIALS. There’s another Private Home round the corner, but it has nothing inside. Backtrack to the main boulevard and head north.

Before going up to the Castle, veer west and go down the stairs. Head to the end of the path to get SYNTHESIS MATERIALS from a chest near the waterfall. There’s a Private Home here, but nothing’s inside at the moment. When you’re ready to move on, head up to the Castle to trigger a scene.

CASTLE AQUARIA

* Items: Blackberries x2, Aquaberries, Compounding Elixirs, Jewel of Refuge, Ripe Berries, Magical Berries, Jewel of Alertness, 4700 Fol

When you regain control of Fayt, follow Nel down the hallway. Speak to her when she stops at the stairs then follow her again. When you reach the Audience Chamber, approach Nel to trigger a scene during which you’ll meet the Queen. If you spoke to the Nervous Man in his house earlier, you’ll see an additional scene as well. Once it ends, you’ll be able to explore the castle.

First, use the Save Point and look near the bed for a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Leave the guestroom. You’re on the 1st floor of the castle’s east wing now. Enter the guestroom directly across from yours. Inside, you’ll find a chest with AQUABERRIES. Clair’s room is 2nd on the left and Nel’s room is 2nd on the right but there is nothing special inside either one. Continue heading north to the next set of rooms.

On the left, you’ll find the Magistrate’s room and across from it, the High Priestess’ quarters. If you brought Roger along, he’ll be roaming the hall above. If you head west from Roger, you’ll find a Theological Library to the north. The door at the end leads to the Great Temple, which you’ll be visiting later. For now, return to the main hall and enter the next room on the right. Inside, you’ll find two chests on the left with COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS and a JEWEL OF REFUGE, and a third chest on the right (behind the metal screen) containing RIPE BERRIES. Exit and take the stairs up to the 2nd floor.

Once there, you can go south and visit the Conference Room, but the path leads to a dead-end, so head west. Enter the Audience Chamber where you met the Queen earlier. Walk up to the throne. There are 2 doors behind the Queen leading to an outside patio and another door in the eastern corner. Enter that one to reach the Queen’s Private Quarters. Look inside the adjoining bedroom for a chest containing MAGICAL BERRIES then leave the Audience Chamber. Back in the hallway, head west.

At the intersection, go south and enter the first door on the eastern side. Speak to Dion in the Research Lab then grab 4,700 FOL from a chest on the table. Enter an adjoining room to the south. Look for a ladder on the western wall and climb down to the room below. Inside the Weapons Storehouse, you’ll find two chests. One contains BLACKBERRIES and the other, a JEWEL OF ALERTNESS. Exit to the 1st floor corridor.

On the west wing, you’ll see 6 more rooms. Beyond them is a path leading east. Follow it to the Runological Library on the north side of the hall or just continue to the door facing east. Go down the spiral stairs and speak to Cliff who is standing near the back of the Temple. When the scene ends, exit and speak to Nel by the castle’s entrance. She’ll suggest you rest, so head east back to your room. As soon as you enter, a scene takes over.

When you regain control of Fayt, save your game and exit the guestroom. Follow the west wing up to the 2nd floor and enter the first door to the south to trigger another scene, in which the group learns it must find some copper ore. When the scene ends, exit the castle and head south towards the city’s entrance. Tell Nel you are ready to leave then head out towards the mines.

JOURNEY TO THE MINES

Head south through Irisa Fields to Peterny. Once there, talk to Cliff at the entrance for an optional dialogue scene then pick up any supplies you may need for the journey ahead (Basil & Sage will come in handy). Exit town through the southern gate to arrive in Palmira Plains.

Continue heading south through the Plains until you reach the town of Arias. Once there, visit the Inn where you’ll bump into Ruddle and Rumina again. They are standing near the Save Point in the lobby. When asked for directions, choose either the “Southwest Gate” or “Northwest Gate” answer, as both lead to Kirlsa. After resting/saving, leave the Inn.

You can speak to the Fervent Man standing near the well outside to hear some optional dialogue. If you want to hire inventor Milenya, visit the town’s Chapel. She’s standing near the altar. When ready, head over to the northwest gate to trigger a scene.

Once the scene ends, you’ll be on the Bequerel Mountain Path and have to fight some Dragon Legionnaires. They can be quite tough if you’re under-leveled or if you run in without thinking. They have the ability to paralyze you. Use Basil to undo the effect if this happens. The scene continues afterwards and the party ends up in the Bequerel Mine.

BEQUEREL MINE

* Items: Lightstone, Cooking Ingredients, 15000 Fol, Key To Barred Door, Blackberries x2, Ripe Berries, Magical Berries, 23600 Fol, Aquaberries, Amulet of Freedom, Copper Ore
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

You cannot complete the map of this area yet, so just fill in as much as you can. Be careful though, as Dragons who inhabit the mine can do some nasty status effects. If you brought some Basil and Sage along, they will not be as much of a problem. Note that boulders will fall on you during battles here as well.

Head north into the mineshaft until you trigger a scene showing how torches can be lit. Go ahead and light some as you round the corner and head north again. When you approach the gate, two Brass Dragons emerge and force the party into battle. After ridding them, you’ll obtain the LIGHTSTONE, an accessory that illuminates the area. Equip it on Fayt then go back and extinguish any torches you lit earlier. When ready, head north through the open gate.

In the next area, move forward then follow the western route to a T-section. Here, you will be advised to light the area but the party will be attacked by 3 waves of Dragons before you can do anything about it. Once defeated, head west (the northern path leads to a dead-end). When you reach the next room, examine the stone pedestal in the corner to get a clue for the upcoming puzzle: Weave the two into a single line of darkness.

To solve the puzzle, enter the western passage to find 2 unlit torches in the center of the room. Light each one then stand between them so that your shadow touches both flames. When done correctly, a gate unlocks in the northwest corner of this room. Enter the new passage.

Fight off some enemies while traveling north around the bend. Enter the room at the end of the path. Move forward into a maze-like area with a Dragon who runs when you try to approach it. Ignore the Dragon for now and head west around the center structure. Veer north into an adjoining passage and go all the way the end to find a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. Return to the t-section you just passed and head east.

Wind around to the very end of the path, past an intersection, to find a chest containing 15,000 FOL. Now, backtrack to the intersection and head south until you see the Dragon again. Chase him into a corner and defeat him to get the KEY TO BARRED DOOR. Before using it on the locked gate to the west, take the northern path up to a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Return to the gate and unlock it to proceed.

Move forward into the large room. When you approach the door at the other end, it closes shut. To unlock this door, you must extinguish all of the lights in the mine. If you lit any wall torches earlier, go back and extinguish them now, including the 2 flaming pedestals you lit earlier. Once all of the lights are off, return to the dragon door in this room and remove your Lightstone if you still have it equipped. The door will open and you can enter the next area.

Once there, you can re-equip your Lightstone. Fight off a few Dragons then head west at the intersection. Move forward and take the northern passage up to the next area. Defeat another Dragon then examine the stone pedestal to get a clue in solving the next puzzle: Race ahead of thyself, but not when alone. Enter the adjacent door.

Begin by going to the center of the room and standing on the stone disk to light 3 dragon sconces. Once they are lit, you’ll notice 2 doors – one facing north and the other facing west. The idea is to turn off certain sconces so that your shadow faces away from the door you want to go through. The western door is of no use now, so try opening the one to the north. To do this, extinguish the sconces on the southern and western walls. Enter the northern chamber.

Move forward then head east at the intersection, past a blocked chest, to the end where you’ll find another passage leading north. Go inside to find two chests. One contains AQUABERRIES and the other, an AMULET OF FREEDOM. This accessory prevents petrifaction; so equip it if you’ve run out of Sage. Now, backtrack to the intersection and head west to a door. Continue north until you reach a Save Point. As usual, heal up and save your game before proceeding.

BOSS >> Cockatrice
HP 15,500 / MP 431
Drops: Synthesis Materials

Strategy: This boss has low MP, so make good use of skills such as Blazing Sword or anything else that drains MP quickly. He’ll mainly try to petrify the party, so be prepared to use some Sage if necessary. Other than that, just slash away and the boss will be dead in no time.

Watch the scene that follows then head north, towards the back of the tracks, to trigger another one, during which you’ll obtain the COPPER ORE. Leave the room via the western exit. Save your game again if you like, then continue heading west down the tracks until you get outside.

ABANDONED REFINERY

* Items: Compounding Elixirs x2, 23600 Fol, Blackberries, Ripe Berries, Magical Berries, Synthesis Materials, Worm-Eaten Tome

Start by heading west towards the rope bridge. Next to it, you’ll find a chest with COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Cross the bridge and go over to a set of ruins near the cliff. You’ll find two chests containing 23,600 FOL and BLACKBERRIES. From here, head south to a chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Now follow the tracks to a building and enter.

Speak to the Aquarian soldiers by the entrance then check under the window to the northwest for a chest with COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Go up the nearby steps and follow the path out to a green chest containing MAGICAL BERRIES. Backtrack to the top of the steps and head south. At the end of the path, you’ll find a chest with SYNTHESIS MATERIALS. Return to the center of the room and head east to enter the Workshop.

Speak to the man wearing a red cape. Grats is an inventor skilled in Weaponry, whom you can hire for 13,500 Fol. Spend some time inventing items here if you wish; otherwise check under the window near Grats for a chest containing a WORM-EATEN TOME. When ready, speak to the Runologist standing in front of the mining cart to rest, then talk to the Soldier beside her to leave the refinery. You might want to return to the previous Save Point before leaving though, as the area up ahead is rather tough.

Once you decide to leave, watch a scene showing the Dragon Brigade’s arrival, during which you’ll have to battle a couple of them. Keep your health up during this battle - as another, tougher one is about to begin.

BOSS >> Demetrio
HP 14,800 / MP 17,776
Drops: Synthesis Materials

BOSS >> Legion Dragon x2
HP 3,000 / MP 192

Strategy: Demetrio can deal some hefty damage with his flaming breath move, so watch out. Try to get rid of his cronies first, so that you can focus on attacking Demetrio in full. He can be difficult to hit while he’s flying around, so try to get a few Chain attacks going, especially Aerial ones. Defeating him shouldn’t be too hard if you keep everyone’s health up.

After the battle, watch a short scene. When you regain control of Fayt, you’ll be on the Mountain Path side of the mine. Speak to the woman standing next to the mining cart here if you want to ride back to the refinery and rest. Talk to the soldier when you’re ready to return then leave the mine.

BEQUEREL MOUNTAIN PATH

Back outside, head south towards the town of Arias. Just before you reach the exit, you’ll trigger a scene and face yet another boss.

BOSS >> Albel
HP 26,000 / MP 2,600
Drops: War God’s Symbol

BOSS >> Black Brigade Soldier x2
HP 4,200 / MP 192

Strategy: Take out the two Black Brigade Soldiers that accompany Albel first if you can, then try to get you party to surround Albel so he cannot move. He is extremely quick and his attacks do a fair amount of damage so anything you can do to prevent him from moving is a good thing. Don’t be afraid to heal often using your best berries, as Albel can take out your entire party pretty quickly if you’re not careful.

Upon his defeat, watch a couple of scenes and you’ll end up back in Arias.

JOURNEY TO AQUIOS

When you regain control of Fayt in Arias, save your game and/or rest then leave the Mansion. You’ll get an alert from the guild that 3 more inventors are available for hire: Gossam, Mackwell, and Rigel. If you’ve been inventing, the shop in town may offer some new items. Check them out if you like; otherwise leave Arias via the eastern gate.

Head north through the Palmira Plains until you reach Peterny. When ready, leave Peterny through the northern gate. Continue north through Irisa Fields until you reach the city.

SACRED CITY OF AQUIOS

Walk forward to trigger a scene involving Mirage and Ameena. When you regain control of Fayt, you’ll be at the Inn. Save your game in the lobby then go up to the Castle. Once there, enter the Runological Research Room on the 2nd floor, which is at the southern end of the west wing. Approach Dion to trigger a scene. Afterwards, return to the Inn and go upstairs to Ameena’s room. Watch another scene before taking control of Fayt again.

Before leaving the city, head back to the Castle and enter the Audience Chamber. Speak to Nel, who is standing on the red carpet inside to trigger a scene. Afterwards, attempt to leave the room and you’ll be introduced to Adray Lasbard, Clair’s father. You can invite Adray to temporarily join the party if you like and I suggest you do. Adray comes with several symbological spells and 180 skill points to distribute as you see fit. His defense rating is weak but all other stats are outstanding. Anyways, the choice is yours whether or not to bring him along.

Once you’re done in Aquios, head south all the way back to Arias.

ARIAS

Upon entering, you are told to go see Clair. Head over to the Mansion and enter the Conference Room to trigger another scene, in which the party is given its new directive. When you regain control of Fayt, stock up on supplies at the local store then head to the southern end of town (near the large machine) to trigger an event involving Dion. Afterwards, return to the Mansion.

Go upstairs and speak to Cliff in the guestroom. He’ll ask if you’re ready to rest. Do so then save your game and head back down to the Conference Room. Speak to Clair. If you brought her father with you, speak to her a 2nd time. Tell her you are ready to leave and the war commences.

AIRE HILLS

When you take control of Fayt, move south across the battlefield. As you get closer to the enemy’s camp, you may fight a few soldiers who are not otherwise engaged. Moving towards the southwest, you’ll eventually bump into Vox and have to battle him.

BOSS >> Vox
HP 30,000 / MP 20,000

Strategy: Even though Vox has a lot of HP, you shouldn’t have too much trouble defeating him. His attacks are pretty basic. The only thing to be concerned with is making good contact, since he’s flying on a dragon. If you’ve learned the Sidekick skill, use it liberally.

Watch the scenes that follow, along with a couple of FMVs that reveal some interesting story developments. When you gain control of Fayt, head north through the enemies until you return to base camp. Once there, a scene takes over.

SACRED CITY OF AQUIOS

* Items: Disintegration Hammer

The scene continues in Castle Aquaria. After it ends, use the Save Point then leave the guest quarters. Head over to the west wing and enter the first door on the right. Approach the bed to trigger a scene. Afterwards, leave the Castle and go down to the Inn. Once there, go upstairs and enter Ameena’s bedroom. Watch a scene then return to Dion’s room in the Castle to trigger more scenes.

When you finally take control of Fayt, you’ll have gained a new party member, Maria Traydor. The leader of Quark starts at Level 20 and comes with 190 skill points to distribute. Her pulse gun weapon is not all that good, so if you intend to use Maria, make sure to visit the Retail Rabbit in Peterny the next time you’re there to buy her a better one. For now, leave the Conference Room and head over to the queen’s Audience Chamber to trigger another scene.

When ready, enter the Temple and approach the altar where the entrance to the Sealed Cavern is revealed. Before going inside, speak to the Priestess near the cavern’s entrance to acquire a DISINTEGRATION HAMMER. This tool allows you to break through certain impediments such as cracked walls. To use it, stand in front of the object you want to disintegrate and press the [Square] button to bring up a menu screen. If the object can be broken, you’ll see it outlined in green. Press X to use the hammer, making sure to jump back from any falling debris. Hammers have a limited amount of charges in them (this particular one comes with 10), so choose your destructions wisely.

Finish up any business you have in town then enter the Sealed Cavern.

SEALED CAVERN

* Items: Blueberries, Cooking Ingredients, Earth Shielding, Blackberries, Anointed Chain Mail, Lunar Talisman / Intellect Berries (Roger)
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny

Head north down the long passageway until you reach a room at the other end. You’ll see a door up ahead and another one on the far right. Enter the door in front of you and continue forward, past the intersection, to the next room. Defeat the Bronze Brute inside then open two chests. One contains BLUEBERRIES and the other, COOKING INGREDIENTS. After getting the items, examine the statue in the northwest corner and flip the switch to “On”. Now backtrack to the first room (past the moving blocks) and enter the small door on the right. Move forward to the next area.

Walk across the moving blocks to a ledge on the other side. Defeat the Flying Armor here then enter the door facing north. Move forward until you reach a passage on the left. Enter. Run underneath the blocks to a chest containing EARTH SHEILDING, then return to the previous area. Head north until you get to another set of moving blocks. Run underneath them and enter the eastern passage.

Defeat the enemies here then go over to the cracked wall on the southeast side. Open your Disintegration Hammer menu and press X while facing the crack to create an opening. Now close the menu and step inside the new area. Grab ANNOINTED CHAIN MAIL and BLACKBERRIES from the two chests on either side of the stairs. After getting the items, descend the stairs and examine the lever on the right. Choose to pull it. Now, go back up to the previous room and take the northwest passage to a new area.

Use the Save Point here then run under the moving blocks to the other side of the room. Once there, enter the passage to the north. Defeat another brute then continue north to a door. Enter and defeat the enemies inside. Once cleared, look for a crack on the southern-facing wall. Use your Disintegration Hammer on it to create a new opening. Enter and examine the statue in the center. When prompted, flip the switch to “On” then return to the previous room and take the northwestern door to a Save Point.

After saving your game, move forward and defeat the Bronze Brute blocking the northern path. Continue through this area until you reach a door facing east. Enter and look on the south-facing wall for a crack. Once inside, examine a statue in the center of the room. When prompted, flip the switch to “on”. Now, return to the previous area and head east through the rubble.

Open a chest containing the LUNAR TALISMAN, an accessory that gives its wearer 10% extra HP. Now, enter the room to the south. If you received the Ancient Volumes from Roger earlier, examine the sarcophagus in the eastern niche to acquire INTELLECT BERRIES, which will permanently increase one character’s Intelligence points. Either way, take the southern route back to the mage-filled room and enter the southwestern door.

Use the Save Point if you like then travel west. Enter the doorway at the end. Defeat the brute again, then run under the blocks to the western side. Heal before entering the door there, as you are about to face a boss.

BOSS >> Flying Knight
HP 17,000 / MP 240
Drops: Smithery Materials

Strategy: This boss has a spinning move that be quite damaging, so watch out. It’s vulnerable to MP attacks, so try using them from afar for a quick victory. If you’d rather beat him with physical attacks, equip the Berserk aura and chain him to death.

Afterwards, exit the Sealed Cavern through the door at the top of the stairs.

SHRINE OF KADDAN

* Items: Saint’s Stone x3, Compounding Elixirs x3, Saint’s Amulet, Blueberries x2, Blackberries x4, Cooking Ingredients x3, Aquaberries, Heavy Armor, Synthesis Materials x2, Alchemy Materials x2, Smithery Materials, 54000 Fol, Hammer Charm, Anti-Stone Amulet, Celestial Pixie, Orb of Foe Finding, Shabby Textbook, Book of Prophecies 1
* Map Completion: 1/1 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

Continue heading north to the next room. Approach the shiny object on the floor up ahead to initiate a battle. Despite the boss theme, this Crystal creature is pretty easy to defeat - quick but not very strong - so just try to corner him and pound away until he crumbles. Upon defeat, you’ll receive a SAINT’S STONE. Continue north to the next room and move forward to a hole in the wall where a scene takes over. When it ends, head east to a new area.

Approach the shiny pile in this room to initiate another battle against a Crystal Statue. Upon defeat, you’ll receive a second SAINT’S STONE. Enter the door heading south and take out the Vendeeni Soldiers up ahead. Afterwards, go around the corner and kill some more enemies. Head east to the next area.

As you enter, an earthquake occurs. Avoid the falling debris while waiting for it to stop. Once things are calm, examine a newly created crack on the western wall. Use your Disintegration Hammer to open a new path. You’ll find yourself inside a Workshop, with two chests to open. One contains COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS and the other, a SAINT’S STONE. After getting the items, examine the table in the center of the room. Fayt will use the 3 Saint Stones to create the SAINT’S AMULET, which becomes important later on. You can invent items while here by examining the equipment in the southern part of the room; otherwise go back to the corridor where you fought the soldiers.

Once there, enter a door to the north. Look for a crack on the north-facing wall to disintegrate. Inside, you’ll find 5 chests containing BLACKBERRIES, COOKING INGREDIENTS, HEAVY ARMOR, COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS, and a SHABBY TEXTBOOK. The textbook teaches your party the “2-Way” Aura. Exit the room and head east to a new area. After defeating more enemies, go over to the crack on the wall facing south (near the room’s entrance). Use your Hammer to reveal a new path. Enter to find two chests containing a HAMMER CHARM and BOOK OF PROPHECIES 1. Return to the previous room.

Before continuing east, you may want to backtrack to get two final items concealed in a wall. If so, head west out of this room and go all the way back to where you fought your first Crystal Statue (west then south). Once there, look on the eastern wall for a crack and use the Hammer on it. Enter and grab SYNTHESIS MATERIALS from the two chests inside.

Now that you have all the items, return to the area you detoured from and continue traveling east until you reach a Save Point. Make sure you have the Saint’s Amulet in your inventory, as it required to defeat the boss up ahead.

BOSS >> Crystal Cerberus
HP 30,000 / MP 3,500

Strategy: If you do not possess the Saint’s Amulet, you will not be able to damage this boss no matter how hard you try. However, with the Amulet in your possession, Crystal Cerberus can be defeated in much the same way as the other Crystal creatures, except he has a lot more HP. The boss is just as fast, so try to corner him and pound away. Elemental magic is ineffective, but Cliff’s Aerial Assault works well to drain MP, which is just about his only weakness.

Once defeated, return to the previous room and save your game before continuing north into the next area. Now, move forward to a door on the eastern side and enter. Defeat some enemies then head north through the next door. After vanquishing more enemies, take the western door into another large room. Move through and enter a door to the north. Kill the brute inside then continue north to the next area.

You’ll be in a room where some chests have already been looted, but there are still four to open. They contain BLUEBERRIES, AQUABERRIES, BLACKBERRIES, and COOKING INGREDIENTS. After grabbing the items, examine the green chest in the center to cause another earthquake, producing a crack on the eastern wall. Hammer it open and enter the new room.

Navigate around the swinging debris to find a chest along the eastern wall that contains an ORB OF FOE FINDING. The other chest here is blocked by debris, so exit. Take the southern door back to the previous area with the Bronze Brute. After defeating it, continue south then head east into a large room. Look for a new crack along the eastern wall. Hammer it open and enter.

You’ll see the Vendeeni pacing in front of some open chests. Defeat them and pass by the closed chest on the right, as it is a booby trap. In this next area, the door to the east leads to a few dead-ends but you may want to explore them to fill out more of the map. If not, continue heading north until you reach a door. Inside, you’ll find a wide staircase. Go up to the 2nd floor of the shrine.

From the top of the stairs, enter the door on the right. Head north through this room to the next one. You’ll see a door straight ahead and chests on each side of the room. The chest on the right contains ALCHEMY MATERIALS and the one on the left, BLACKBERRIES. After getting the items, head through the door. Fight off another Crystal creature then continue heading north to the next area.

In this room, there are two doors on either end of the hall and one leading further north. Following the eastern and western routes leads to several extra rooms, all of which are empty. Detour for map-filling purposes or just enter the door to the north. Defeat another Crystal Statue then continue north to the next room.

Here, you must make a choice: Either engage in 4 solo battles to win a valuable prize or avoid fighting by going through the hole on the right. Assuming you want to collect the prize, approach the center statue to bring up a menu. Select your 4 strongest characters to go head-to-head with an enemy behind each of the 4 doors here. Note that the enemies on the left are weaker than those on the right. After making your selections, start fighting. If you win all four, open the green chest to receive an ANTI-STONE AMULET. You can re-enter the 4 rooms afterwards to fill in more of the map or just continue through the northern door.

Move forward to a chest in the northernmost corner to get some BLACKBERRIES then follow the eastern part of corridor around a corner to an area with an angel statue. Enter the door to the south. Continue forward then veer east through the winding hallway past the door facing north. Keep moving east until you get to a door at the very end. Enter the new hallway and go north until you can turn east again.

Follow this path around a corner. You’ll find a chest at the northern end containing BLUEBERRIES. After getting them, backtrack to the intersection and head north, around another corner. You’ll get to an opening where you have the option of continuing north or traveling west. Follow the northern route to a door at the end. Enter to find a big red crystal at the back of the room. Touch it to cause a tremor then leave. Backtrack to the opening and follow the western route now.

At the end of the path, you’ll find a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. After getting the item, return to the opening and head south. Go all the way down to the door heading west. Enter and move forward to the north-facing door you passed earlier.

Inside, you’ll find a large maze with moving blocks. The goal is to reach the door on the northwest side without getting hit by any of the blocks. You’ll have to start the puzzle over again if you get hit, which is not really a bad thing since the more map you fill in allows you to watch the pattern of the blocks and time your move. When safely across, enter the door to find a second maze puzzle.

The premise is the same for this room, a maze with moving blocks that you want to avoid. Although the exit is to the north (almost straight ahead), you’ll want to grab 54,000 FOL from a chest in the southeast corner and a CELESTIAL PIXIE from the chest in the northwest corner before leaving the maze. Once across, enter the door at the other end.

There are four chests in this room. Two contain COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS and the others, ALCHEMY MATERIALS and SMITHERY MATERIALS. After getting the items, enter the northern door. Use the Save Point then approach the door to trigger a brief scene. When ready, enter the next room.

BOSS >> Vendeeni Soldiers
7,400 HP / 336 MP

Strategy: The Vendeeni you face here are considered a boss fight, yet apart from their ability to petrify you, they are no more dangerous than the ones you’ve been fighting all along. If you acquired the Anti-Stone Amulet, equip it to prevent petrifaction or use Sage should a character become incapacitated. Other than that, avoid their gunfire and swing away. The gang should fall in no time.

Watch the scene that follows then head all the way back to Castle Aquaria’s Temple. There will be no monsters to contend with on the return journey through the Shrine of Kaddan, however they will be present within the Sealed Cavern, so be prepared.

Sacred City of Aquios / Maria’s Flashback

As soon as you enter the Temple, you’ll receive a message from the guild that 3 more inventors are available for hire: Misty Lear, Lias, and Dejison. There is, in fact, an inventor in the castle that you’ll want to hire right now – but only if you got the Book of Prophecies 1. If so, go the Library of Theology located in the east wing of the castle. It’s the first door facing north, right next to the Temple. Once there, give the book to Mackwell, an inventor skilled in Alchemy. After signing him up, head over to the Audience Chamber.

Approaching the queen triggers a few scenes, during which you will see a flashback involving Maria and take control of her as a child. When you do, walk around the transport ship and speak to all of the passengers on board. After doing so, speak to Jessie a second time to continue the scene. When you take control of Maria again, speak to all of the passengers one last time, then kick back and watch several more scenes, concluding in present-day Aquios.

Once the flashback sequence is over and you have control of Fayt again, return to the Audience Chamber in the castle. Watch an additional scene where the party receives its new objective. Afterwards, speak to Magistrate Lasselle near the throne if you want directions to where you are headed next; otherwise leave the castle and make preparations for the journey. When ready, exit the city and enter Irisa Fields.

Before heading off to Mosel, you might want to take a side-trip to an optional dungeon, whose entrance is found in the second half of Irisa Fields. If so, follow the low road south then cross the bridge and head northwest to reach the stone entrance. If not, skip over the next section.

AQUATIC GARDENS – OPTIONAL

* Items: Crafting Materials, Eldritch Fire Stone, Symbol of Courage, 8200 Fol, Blackberries x2, Smithery Materials, Holy Sword, Fresh Sage, Earth Charm, Wind Absorption, Anointed Chain Mail, Blueberries, 15000 Fol, Paracelsus’s Table
* Map Completion: 1/1 Scale Bunny

Surviving the Aquatic Gardens would have been quite hard if you attempted it at any point before visiting the Shrine of Kaddan, but by now your levels should be high enough. You can complete the map here as well and receive a Bunny worth much Fol – but don’t use it on your party, as it will actually decrease everyone’s speed by 50%.

Start off by descending the stairs. When you reach the intersection, head east (the other paths lead to dead-ends). In the next area, fight some foes while navigating around the holes in the ground to reach the eastern passage. Continue heading east until you reach a T-section. Follow the southern route up to a chest containing CRAFTING MATERIALS then return to the T-section. Take the eastern path to the next area.

Once there, look in the southwest corner for a chest containing an ELDRITCH FIRE STONE then take the eastern exit to the next screen. Move forward to the crossroad where you’ll have a choice of going north or south. The southern route leads to a dead-end so take the northern one.

You’ll come upon an area with two green tiles on the floor. Stepping on them brings up a series of colored blocks, which you must move around in order to reach the paths beyond. Lines on the floor correspond to the direction the blocks will move in. If you screw up and want to reset the puzzle, just press the [select] button.

Your first goal is to get to the eastern exit. Once there, move forward then take the northern path up. Look to the right for a chest containing a SYMBOL OF COURAGE. After getting the item, return to the puzzle slab and step on the green tiles again to bring up the blocks. This time, your goal is to reach the northern exit. To do so, push the white block then the orange one next to it. Push the 2nd white block and finally, the blue one up ahead.

Once you’ve reached the exit, continue north until you reach a 4-way intersection. First, take the western route to another hole-filled platform. Look in the southern corner for a chest with 8,200 FOL. Return to the intersection and head north to the next platform. Fight some slab enemies there then look for a chest in the southwest corner. It contains BLACKBERRIES. Continue north down the winding staircase to an intersection.

From here, head west to a 2nd intersection then travel south to reach a chest containing more BLACKBERRIES. Return to the intersection and go further west, around a corner and up to the next puzzle platform. This one is more complicated but the premise is the same: move colored blocks to reach the various exits. You will also find two chests within the puzzle area. The one in the southeast corner contains SYNTHESIS MATERIALS and the one next to the northern exit holds SMITHERY MATERIALS.

Your first goal is to move the blocks so that you can reach the northern exit. Once there, follow the path around a corner until you find a chest containing the HOLY SWORD. This weapon is probably better than anything Fayt currently has, so equip it now. Backtrack and reset the puzzle. If you want to fill in more of the map, go ahead and open the southern route; otherwise, move the blocks to free up the western exit. Once there, continue forward to the next platform.

Defeat more enemies then look in the southwest corner for a chest containing FRESH SAGE. Leave through the northwestern exit and continue traveling west, around the corner, to a new platform. Navigate around the holes to the southern exit. Follow the path until you reach the chest containing an EARTH CHARM then backtrack to the platform. Head east now.

At the intersection, travel south to a new platform. Navigate around the holes reach the southern exit and continue down to a 3rd puzzle platform. As before, step on the green tile to bring up the blocks. In addition to the southern and western gates, you’ll see 3 chests sitting within the maze. The two chests in the northwest corner contain BLUEBERRIES and WIND ABSORPTION. The chest in the southwest corner holds ANOINTED CHAIN MAIL. After getting the items, take the western exit out to a new area.

Follow the western path up to a chest containing 15,000 FOL then return to the puzzle platform and reset the blocks. Move them so that you can reach the southern exit. Once there, continue up the winding stairs to a new platform with holes. Defeat enemies then head northeast to a new area. Use the Save Point there then head east to trigger a scene, during which you’ll face a tough boss.

BOSS >> Sculpture Lord
HP 40,000 / MP 30,000

BOSS >> Sculpture Guard x2
HP 11,000 / MP 3,200

Strategy: If your characters are at level 29 or above, this boss should fall pretty easily. Start by taking care of the two Guards, who can be taken out quickly using MP-draining skills. Once they’re out of the way, put Fayt or Cliff in Berserk mode and have them chain-combo the Lord to death. The boss can administer a lot of physical damage, so keep an eye on your HP and heal when necessary.

Upon victory, open the chest to receive the PARACELSUS’S TABLE, an item that allows you to open up Versus Mode gameplay once you reach Peterny. For now, exit the area and travel all the way back through the Aquatic Garden to Irisa Fields.

JOURNEY TO MOSEL

Back in Irisa Fields, head south to the town of Peterny. If you got Paracelsus’s Table by defeating the Aquatic Garden’s boss, visit the Craftsman’s Guild on the west side of town. Once there, speak to Welch, who will hold the Table for you. From now on, you may play in Versus Mode just by speaking to her. If you completed the Aquatic Garden map, go to a shop and sell the1/1 Scale Bunny you earned. It’s worth 82,000 Fol. When you’re finished up in town, leave Peterny through the western gate.

Travel north through the Sanmite Steppe, up to the bridge. A scene takes over when you try to cross, followed by an encounter with Schweimer.

BOSS >> Schweimer
HP 16,800 / MP 1,400

BOSS >> Legion Dragon x2
HP 3,000 / MP 192

Strategy: Schweimer is much like Vox in that his moves are practically the same. His MP is extremely low, so exploit it. If you prefer to go for the HP kill, just activate Beserk and Schweimer will go down in no time at all.

After defeating Schweimer, cross the bridge and enter Surferio from the northwest. Once there, go to the Chief’s house to rest/save then continue your journey by taking the southwest staircase up to the Mosel region.

PASSAGE FROM PARCH TO PLENTY

* Items: Map of Mosel Dunes
* Map Completion: 1/144 Scale Bunny

Travel west to the next area and fight the luminous creature there, making sure to avoid rocks that fall during battles in this region. Afterwards, continue forward until you reach a stone archway facing south. Take the detour if you want to fill in more of the map and fight a large bird; otherwise, continue heading northwest. You’ll reach another stone archway, this time facing north. Detour once again if you like, or just stay on the main path until you reach an Old Man. If you speak to him twice, he’ll offer to sell you a map. Pay him 10,000 Fol to receive a MAP OF THE DUNES, which is quite useful for the area ahead. When ready, leave via the opening next to the old man.

MOSEL DUNES

* Items: Blueberries, Blackberries, Aquaberries, Perfect Berries, Synthesis Materials, Smithery Materials, Machinery Materials, Cooking Ingredients, 22400 Fol, Alchemist’s Stone, Fire Pixie

If you chose not to buy the map from the old man, the Mosel Dunes will be rather difficult to navigate, as it is very large. Either way, head north through the open desert until you reach the next area. Once there, you’ll notice a new meter on screen that indicates the party’s thirst level. If it drops to zero before reaching a water source, you’ll have to start the entire area again.

First, head northwest until you reach a puddle of water. Press X while standing in it to replenish your water gauge then run up to a chest in the northwest to get AQUABERRIES. From here, head east towards the rocks to reach another chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. The man standing next to this chest is Balbados, an inventor you can hire later on. Now, run back to the water puddle and refill your gauge. After doing so, head northeast around the rocks until you reach a 2nd water source.

Replenish your meter then move north towards the green chest containing PERFECT BERRIES. Veer northwest from this chest to another one holding MACHINERY MATERIALS. Run back to the 2nd water puddle and refill the meter. This time, head south to a chest containing BLACKBERRIES then move east towards a chest with AQUABERRIES. Dash over to a 3rd water source, which is further east.

Once replenished, head southeast towards the rocks to get 22,400 FOL from a chest then return to the water puddle. Now, head northwest to the 4th puddle. You may have to battle an Aquaregia who resides there. After replenishing your water, continue heading northwest to a chest containing SMITHERY MATERIALS. Further up, grab SYNTHESIS MATERIALS from a green chest then head west to the next water source.

Getting the last three treasures in this area before your water gauge depletes is difficult, since they are spread far apart. If you pass out before reaching a water source, just retrace your steps to this point. The next treasure lies within the northwestern tip of your map. Open the green chest there to get the ALCHEMIST’S STONE. Run back to the water puddle before time expires if you can.

You can wait to get the last two items if you don’t want to retrace your steps from the entrance. For those that want them now, head northeast from the 5th water source, to a green chest containing a FIRE PIXIE then run to the easternmost tip to find a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. After getting all the items, head northeast to the final, and largest, water source. Follow the rockface east to reach the exit.

ANCIENT RUINS OF MOSEL

* Items: Blueberries, Blackberries x2, Aquaberries, 40000 Fol, Aqua Veil
* Map Completion: 1/1 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

Once inside the Ancient Ruins, you no longer have to contend with the water gauge. Move forward to the Save Point. After using it, enter the door up ahead. Step on the disk surrounded by statues to trigger a scene showing how puzzles in this area are solved. Basically, it’s Rock/Paper/Scissors using black and white versions of a Warrior, Thief, and Symbologist:

- White Warrior loses to Black Symbologist / Black Symbologist loses to White Thief
- White Thief loses to Black Warrior / Black Warrior loses to White Symbologist
- White Symbologist loses to Black Thief / Black Thief loses to White Warrior

After learning the rules, go through the northern door to the next area. Move forward to an intersection and take the eastern route up to a door. Enter to find a Workshop, where there is a chest to open at the southern end. Grab some BLACKBERRIES from it and spend some time inventing things here if you like; otherwise, go through the door to the north. Move forward until you reach another door facing north. Defeat the enemy inside then open a chest in the northeast corner to obtain BLUEBERRIES. Leave and backtrack through the Workshop to the initial intersection.

Head west this time, past a locked door on the left, until you get to a door facing north. Enter the new corridor and continue through the door directly ahead. Open a chest containing BLACKBERRIES then return to the corridor. Continue traveling northeast, past another locked door, until you reach a door flanked by 2 statues on the left. Go inside and grab 40,000 FOL and AQUABERRIES from two chests on the northern end of the room. After getting the items, examine the disk next to the statue. When asked to make a choice, select the “Warrior” to witness the Black Thief’s demise. Doing so unlocks a door within the ruins. Leave the room and continue east down the corridor until you reach a door at the other end. Defeat the enemy waiting inside then go through the eastern door to a new corridor.

Continue heading east through another door where you’ll find a 2nd statue puzzle. This time, press the “Symbologist” button to watch the Black Warrior’s defeat. Leave the room and head southwest to get back to the very first corridor. Once there, head west again. Go through the door at the end and follow the corridor up to the door with blue markings facing east. Now that it’s unlocked, enter the new area.

Inside, you’ll find a chest containing the AQUA VEIL, an item that allows you to navigate the Dunes without needing water. After getting it, use the Save Point then examine the statue. Press the “Thief” button to defeat the Black Symbologist and unlock a door to the south. Enter this door to trigger a scene. When it ends, leave the Ancient Ruins.

JOURNEY TO AIRYGLYPH

Now that you have the Aqua Veil, you can head back through the Mosel Dunes without fear of fainting. If you missed any treasures during your previous trip, you can easily find them now. Head south to get back to the Passage From Parch To Plenty. Follow it to Surferio and out to the Sanmite Steppe. Head down to Peterny, where you’ll see a scene as you enter town. Speak to your party members at the Peterny Inn if you like; otherwise exit through the southern gate.

Continue south through the Palmira Plains to Arias. Rest up at the mansion or just exit through the northwestern gate. Follow the Bequerel Mountain Path north then head west at the crossroad. Take the southern route down to the Mines. Talk to Gregory, who offers to give you a lift back to the switchroom. If you acquired Ancient Volume II from Roger earlier, examine the torch across from the switchboxes to obtain MAGI BERRIES, which permanently boosts a character’s MP by 10%. Either way, use a Hauler to leave the mines and head south to reach Kirlsa.

While in Kirlsa, you can explore the Storm Brigade’s Garrison, which is now open to the party. If you prefer heading straight to Airyglyph, skip the next section and take the western gate out to the Traum Mountains.

KIRSLA STORM BRIGADE’S GARRISON - OPTIONAL

* Items: Aquaberries, Ripe Berries, Cooking Ingredients, Synthesis Materials, Blackberries x2, Fire Pixie

Speak to the guards at Kirlsa’s northeastern gate in order to pass through. Once inside, move forward and look behind the tree on the right for a chest containing AQUABERRIES. Head west from the tree towards a house. Go to the end of the porch to find a chest containing RIPE BERRIES then return to the main path.

Now travel north through the open gate and look behind the weapons rack on the left for a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. Explore the training grounds if you like; otherwise, head back down to the intersection and go west. Go up the stairs at the other end and enter Count Woltar’s Mansion.

Once there, enter the storage room in the northeast corner and open two chests containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS and BLACKBERRIES. After getting the items, go upstairs to the 2nd floor. Head east around the sitting area and enter the first door facing south. Inside, you’ll find a chest holding a FIRE PIXIE. Continue down the hall to the next room and open the chest inside to get more BLACKBERRIES. The last room is empty so leave the mansion and return to town.

TRAUM MOUNTAINS

As you head west through the mountains, you’ll notice some new enemies populate the region. They shouldn’t pose too much trouble. Go across the snowy bridge at the other end to reach Airyglyph.

ROYAL CITY OF AIRYGLYPH

As soon as you enter the city, you’ll hear an alert from the guild that 3 new inventors are available for hire: The Killer Chef, Cornelius, and Balbados. Before going to the castle, you should purchase some of those weapons and pieces of armor that were too expensive the first time you visited.

After shopping, head over to the Inn. You’ll find Rumina and Ruddle hanging out in the lobby. Approach them to trigger a scene. When prompted, tell them they “already passed Kirlsa” then leave the Inn. Head west down the main boulevard until you reach the castle gate. Watch the scene that follows.

AIRYGLYPH CASTLE

* Items: Compounding Elixirs, Blueberries, Jewel of Avarice, Synthesis Materials, Smithery Materials, 1100 Fol, Letter From King of Airyglyph, Magical Berries

When you regain control of Fayt, use the Save Point then follow Woltar down the southern corridor to the cellar entrance. Speak to him there to trigger a scene. After Albel joins the party, leave the Torture Chamber and head east. Take the southern-facing door back to the 1st floor of the castle.

Once there, feel free to explore. If you enter the kitchen in the northwest corner, you’ll find a chest containing COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS near the stove. The room next door holds a chest with BLUEBERRIES and the third one has a chest containing a JEWEL OF AVARICE. Enter the room that is south of the kitchen, next to the Air Dragon’s Cave. Inside, you’ll find a chest with SYNTHESIS MATERIALS.

Follow the hallway down to the door in the southeast corner. You’ll find a chest containing SMITHERY MATERIALS as soon as you enter. Climb to the top of the watchtower if you want to take in the view, otherwise return to the 1st floor hallway. The other doors on this floor lead to empty areas so head upstairs to the 2nd floor.

The first two doors along the northern wall lead to more empty spaces. Enter the last one against this wall to find a passage leading to the king’s dragon. Enter and look behind a barrel for a chest containing 1,100 FOL. Now, return to the 2nd floor hallway and enter the door to the south to trigger a scene involving the king. If you choose to help him, you’ll receive the LETTER FROM KING OF AIRYGLYPH, which is to be delivered to Elena Frahm in Aquios. Afterwards, enter the room to the east. Inside the king’s private chamber, you’ll find a chest containing MAGICAL BERRIES.

Now, leave the castle and exit Airyglyph from the eastern gate.

TRAUM MOUNTAINS

Cross the snowy bridge then approach the Dragon Brigade Soldier hovering on the right. He offers to give you a lift to the Bequerel Mountain Path. Take him up on the offer.

BEQUEREL MOUNTAIN PATH

The Dragon Brigade Soldier deposits you near the top of the mountain. If you want to go straight to the Mountains of Barr, head west then veer north at the cliff’s edge. Continue forward until a scene takes over. When it ends, you’ll be in the Mountains of Barr. For those that want to detour a little first, read the section below:

Take the southeast exit out of Bequerel and go through Arias, back to Peterny. While there, speak to Albel on the street near the Inn. Your response to him will either increase or decrease his affection for Fayt. If you want Albel to join the party permanently (which means forfeiting the right to have either Nel or Roger join permanently later on) choose to rest at the Inn. You’ll trigger another scene, during which Albel will ask if you hate him. Answer, “Not really” and he’ll join up for the long haul.

If you want Roger to join the party permanently (instead of Albel or Nel), go to Surferio and enter the house across from the shop to participate in an event with Roger. If Nel’s your choice, do not participate in either the Albel or Roger events noted above.

If you took the king’s letter earlier, leave Peterny via the northern gate. Continue heading north until you reach Aquios. Once there, go to the Castle and deliver the letter to Elena Frahm. Her room is on the 1st floor of the west wing, third door on the right. Approach her at the desk to trigger a scene, in which she asks that you deliver a message to the king. Leave Aquios and go all the way back to Airyglyph (speak to the Dragon Soldier on the Bequerel Mountain Path again if you want to take the shortcut).

Once in Airyglyph, enter the castle and go upstairs. Speak to the king, who is now sitting on his throne. After giving him Elena’s message, leave Airyglyph and ride the dragon from Traum back to Bequerel.

MOUNTAINS OF BARR

* Items: Smithery Materials x2, Blackberries, Aquaberries, Wind Shielding, 18100 Fol, Blueberries, Writing Materials x2, Ripe Berries, Steeled Earth, Dragon’s Windpipe, Dragon Bone Flute, 46000 Fol, Superior Chain Mail
* Map Completion: 1/1 Scale Bunny (cannot complete yet)

Head north to the next area. Defeat the dragon blocking your path then move forward to the intersection. Head west to the next screen and follow the path up to a chest containing SMITHERY MATERIALS. Now, return to the intersection and go east until you reach 2 chests sitting on the path. They contain SMITHERY MATERIALS and BLACKBERRIES. Continue forward to the next intersection.

Head right, around the boulder, then veer south. You’ll find a chest at the end of the path containing AQUABERRIES. Return to the main path and head northeast to the next area. Go up the hill until you reach water. Cross the logs and enter the cave behind the waterfall.

Kill the enemy inside then move forward to the next area. There are two paths you can follow here. The one to the east leads to a panel showing a ‘happy’ dragon. You cannot do anything here yet, so backtrack to the previous area and head north. You’ll see two paths in front of you and one heading east. Follow the eastern route to a chest carrying WIND SHIELDING then return to the previous area. Head north (both paths lead to the same spot) then veer west. Pass under the archway to reach the next area where you’ll find 2 chests. They contain 18,100 FOL and BLUEBERRIES. Return to the previous area and head east now. In the next room, travel north to get back outside.

Continue heading north up the mountain path until you reach a woman. She is Misty Lear, an inventor whom you’ll definitely want to hire later on. For now, examine the wooden structure next to her to find that it is actually a Workshop. Spend some time inventing things here if you like; otherwise, continue past it until you reach another intersection.

Head east through the next area and continue forward until you reach another intersection. Look for a chest on the right that contains WRITING MATERIALS then head west, over to a double waterfall. Go across the rocks and enter the cave in between the falls. Inside, look for a chest containing RIPE BERRIES then exit the cave. Backtrack to the intersection near the Workshop and travel west now.

Open a chest to the north to get the STEELED EARTH, a very powerful weapon for Albel. After equipping it, you can fight the big dragon near the rocks or just continue heading north to the Save Point. Use it then enter the cave behind the waterfall to trigger a scene.

BOSS >> Blue Dragon Zombie
HP 30,000 / MP 2,500
Drops: Pulse Gun

Strategy: This dragon mainly uses MP attacks so pay attention to your levels. On the other hand, it is resistant to all spells so don’t bother using symbology. Instead, pummel the dragon with physical attacks and you should take it out pretty easily.

After winning the battle, you’ll acquire a Pulse Gun for Maria and the DRAGON’S WINDPIPE. Take the windpipe back to the Workshop near Misty Lear. Enter the structure and watch Fayt modify the instrument to create a DRAGON BONE FLUTE. Afterwards, travel south and enter the cave again. Go all the way through until you’re back outside, near the waterfall.

Once there, head northwest until you reach an intersection. Continuing northwest leads to a chest containing WRITING MATERIALS. After getting the item, return to the intersection and head north towards the waterfall. You’ll see a large dragon hovering above. If you wait there long enough, the dragon will scoop you up and deposit you in a new area. Watch a brief scene, in which the party realizes they are surrounded by a hoard of little dragons.

When you regain control of Fayt, head east through the flock then travel southwest to reach a chest containing SUPERIOR CHAIN MAIL. Continue further to a new cave entrance. Go inside and head south until a scene takes over. Afterwards, go around the corner and approach the baby dragon sitting next to the doorway. Press the [Circle] button to practice playing your Dragon Bone Flute. The baby dragon’s mood will change depending on which tune you play:

- Happy: Tap button lightly a couple of times
- Sad: Press button hard a couple of times
- Playful: Hold button down lightly
- Angry: Hold button down firmly

After learning the various tunes, use the exit next to the baby dragon to get back outside. Once there, continue east past the waterfall to reach a chest containing 46,000 FOL. Afterwards, enter the second cave behind the falls to trigger a scene. When it ends, you’ll be back in the very first cave you visited. Move forward to get out of the alcove then travel south. In the next area, head east and go over to the dragon panel you passed earlier. Now that you have a flute, play the ‘happy’ tune to gain entry.

RUINS OF BARR

* Items: Dragon’s Cranium, Synthesis Materials, Masterwork Plate, Magical Berries, Damask Plate, Blackberries, Wind Charm, Spirit Stone, Wind Pixie

Use the Save Point by the doorway then head north towards another ‘happy’ dragon panel. Play your flute accordingly to gain entry. As soon as you move forward, a yellow tile lights up on the floor. There are several tiles in this room and the goal is to light all of them up. Examine the dragon panel on the northern wall to learn how to solve the puzzle: “Offer the dragon’s cranium while within the cross. The dragons seek nothing more than their favorite sound.”

Before opening the panels in this room, return to the previous area and approach the ‘angry’ dragon panel on the eastern wall. Play the appropriate tune to open up a new path (regarding all panels in the ruins, playing the wrong tune results in a battle). Move forward until a scene takes over. When it ends, examine the jar in front of you to acquire the DRAGON’S CRANIUM. Open a chest in the opposite corner to get SYNTHESIS MATERIALS then leave the room.

Head north, back to the puzzle chamber, and examine the dragon panel on the western wall. Play the ‘sad’ tune to gain entry. Head north down the corridor and step on the tile at the end to illuminate it. After doing so, go south to find an ‘angry’ dragon panel. Play your flute to open it and step on the tile inside. Now, return to the corridor and enter the opening further up on the right.

Go inside the room facing west to find a chest containing MASTERWORK PLATE armor. Exit and head north into a new room. Defeat the enemy inside then examine the dragon panel on the eastern wall. This one is tricky because it changes moods from ‘happy’ to ‘sad’ to ‘angry’. You need to play the flute in that order to unlock the path. Prepare to battle a few dragons before perfecting your timing.

After opening the panel, go inside to find two chests containing MAGICAL BERRIES and a DAMASK PLATE. After getting the items, return to the central puzzle room. Once there, examine the ‘playful’ dragon panel on the eastern wall. Play your flute accordingly and enter. You’ll see a ‘sad’ dragon panel directly in front of you. Play the correct tune then step on the tile inside the room. Now, return to the corridor and head south. Step on the tile at the end of the path then turn around and enter the passage facing east.

Enter the door at the far end of the path. Defeat an enemy inside then open a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Leave the room and take the thin passageway on the left up to another door. Enter and head west through the next door to reach a room with two chests. They contain a WIND CHARM and the SPIRIT STONE (an item that allows you to hire Misty Lear). Exit and continue north to find a dragon panel that changes between ‘sad’ and ‘angry’. Play the flute in that order to open up a new path. Grab a WIND PIXIE from the chest inside then backtrack to the main puzzle room.

Once there, examine the dragon panel on the northern wall. Play the ‘angry’ song to gain access to the next area. Use the Save Point on the left then open the ‘playful’ dragon panel facing north. Step on the tile inside then return to the main puzzle room. All of the floor tiles in the puzzle room should be lit now. Stand on the center one and watch Fayt use the Dragon’s Cranium to unlock a door somewhere. Return to the Save Point and use it before facing a powerful foe in the room up ahead.

BOSS >> Robin Wind
HP 50,000 / MP 1,800
Drops: Synthesis Materials

Strategy: Don’t let his size fool you. This guy is really tough and you may actually die a couple of times before beating him. Robin Wind is extremely fast and his attacks drain both your MP and HP very quickly, so pay close attention to your party’s health. His Aerial Slash does the most damage but the electrical web he casts is a close second. Try to pin him down and chain attacks so that he cannot run away. Take advantage of his low MP if you can spare the time, otherwise just pound away so he has no chance to hit back or confuse the party.

After the tough battle, go back and save your game then head north into the Urssa Lava Caves.

URSSA LAVA CAVES

* Items: Damask Gauntlet, Rabbit Ears Key, Cooking Ingredients, Blackberries, Book of Prophecies 2, Disintegration Bomb, Gutsy Bunny
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny

The creatures that reside here are pretty tough to defeat if you’re under-leveled, so take advantage of the save point in the previous area if you’re having difficultly getting through. Most are fire-based so counter with ice spells to make it easier. Begin by heading north around the lava pit, then veer east to reach the next area.

Once there, head north to find a chest containing a DAMASK GAUNTLET. Return to the main path and continue east to the next area. Wind your way around the fiery rocks until you reach a stone statue. Examine it to see a brief scene then search behind the statue to acquire the RABBIT EARS KEY. If you have Roger’s Ancient Book VII in your inventory, examine the left torch by the statue to get the RABBIT EARS CHALICE as well. Now, backtrack to the cave entrance and head west.

Continue traveling west through the lava field until you hit a wall. Look to the south for a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS then head north to the next area. An enemy attacks as soon as you enter. After defeating it, look behind the rock on the left for a chest with BLACKBERRIES then continue north until you reach a door. Fayt uses the Rabbit Ears Key to unlock it and automatically enters a thick, red fog.

You cannot change camera angles while in the fog, so rely on your map to navigate. Move forward then veer east through a patch of rocks when the opportunity presents itself. Continue moving east, past the first intersection, to a second one heading north. Pass through some black smoke, looping around, until you find an alcove facing west. Enter it to find a chest containing the BOOK OF PROPHECIES 2. Leave the alcove and loop back down so that you’re traveling west again.

Continue west, past the entrance, until you reach a turn. Move north a short distance then take a quick turn east onto a new path. Follow this path up to a door and enter. You’ll be inside a cozy little Workshop with a rabbit inventor named Vanilla. Approach the rabbit to trigger a scene, during which you’ll learn you have to pick up an item in Airyglyph. When Vanilla asks how much you’re willing to spend for his services, select 1,000 Fol, 10,000 Fol, or 30,000 Fol. He will give you a DISINTEGRATION BOMB and the number of ‘gem’ charges in it (1, 10, or 30) depends on how much you paid him. It’s similar to the Disintegration Hammer, except it works only on ice.

I suggest paying 10,000 Fol to get 10 bombs. If you pay this amount, Vanilla will also give you a GUTSY BUNNY, an accessory that empowers weaker enemies so that you can earn more Exp. Whether you choose to equip this or not, leave the Workshop and start the journey back to Airyglyph.

JOURNEY TO AIRYGLYPH

* Items: Glowstone

Leave Urssa and head south through the Ruins of Barr until you reach the Barr Cave again. If you found the Spirit Stone earlier, take the northern exit out of this cave and visit Misty Lear at her mountainside Workshop. Give her the stone and she will offer her excellent Alchemy skills in return. Once hired, head south again through the cave. Back outside, take the southeastern route down the mountain until you reach Bequerel. Have the Dragon Brigade Soldier give you a lift to Traum then cross the snowy bridge into Airyglyph.

Back in Airyglyph, head south down the central street then take the western stairs up to the Aqueducts. Once inside, walk towards the big chunk of ice in the northeastern corner. Use the Disintegration Bomb on it to reveal a doorway. Open the chest inside to obtain the GLOWSTONE then leave the Aqueducts.

Before returning to Urssa, you may want to spend some time inventing things in Airyglyph, especially if you hired both Mackwell and Misty Lear. They, along with Maria, can create some powerful ores to attach to your weapons – even better if you have the Alchemist’s Stone. If they create Orichalcum, for example, you can synthesize it to weapons for +500 ATK increase. Many other gems and ores enhance your weapons nicely also. If you want to hire someone with decent Smithery skills, talk to Lias in the Tavern. Pay him 28,000 Fol for his services.

If you cannot afford to invent things or simply don’t want to, leave Airyglyph and go back to the Urssa Lava Caves.

URSSA LAVA CAVES

* Items: Ring of Disintegration, Crafting Materials

Return to Vanilla in his workshop and give him the Glowstone so that he can make you a RING OF DISINTEGRATION. This ring allows you to break almost any obstruction you come across now and also rewards you for chaining breaks together. It starts off with 100 charges and operates the same way as your bomb and hammer. Visit specialists in town to replenish the ring when it runs out of charges, or to increase the number of gems you can collect using chains. Revisiting parts of the world to complete maps and obtain previously blocked treasures will be covered later in this walkthrough, but feel free to do it now if you’re so inclined. For everyone else, read on…

Leave the Workshop and return to the Urssa entrance. Use the Save Point below before continuing north through the lava caves. Go as far north as you can until you can veer east. Look in the lower corner for a chest containing CRAFTING MATERIALS then continue heading east until you can travel north again. Follow the path up to a blocked door. Use your Ring of Disintegration to crush the boulders and open the way to the Marquis. Heal everyone before moving forward, as you’re about to face a tough boss.

BOSS >> Crosell
HP 29,000 / MP 4,200

Strategy: Crosell is very large and can easily step on your characters to deal massive damage. He will also pound most of the battlefield, causing both HP and MP damage. Keep your health up and just slash away with Cancel Combos until he pauses the fight.

A brief scene follows and before you have a chance to heal, you must fight Crosell again.

BOSS >> Crosell (2nd round)
HP 62,000 / MP 6,000
Drops: Ring of Vigor

Strategy: This time, Crosell has a lot more HP and MP. Be prepared to revive characters using Fresh Sage if the big dragon crushes anyone or flaps his wings to drain all MP. Apart from that, your strategy should be the same.

Watch the scenes that follow, ending back in Aquios.

SACRED CITY OF AQUIOS

When you regain control of Fayt, you’ll be in the garden outside the queen’s Audience Chamber and hear an alert from the guild that 3 new inventor are available for hire: Mishell, Gusto, and Vanilla. Leave the garden and start searching for your party members.

If you delivered the king’s letter in an earlier side-quest, enter Elena Frahm’s room to view a scene before speaking to Cliff in the hallway near the castle’s entrance. Maria is inside the Temple. After speaking with her, head over to the east wing. Enter the first room on the right to find Mirage. Talk to her and use the Save Point inside then leave this room and enter the one next door. Speak to Nel then return to the corridor and enter the room on the opposite wall to find Adray. After talking to him, leave the castle.

You’ll find Albel walking on the central boulevard (inventor Mishell is nearby in case you want to hire him). Talk to Albel then head over to the Grocer’s store on the side street near the Inn. Inside, you’ll find Roger. Use any services in town before heading back to the castle. Once there, enter the garden behind the Audience Chamber to trigger more scenes.

FLAGSHIP DIPLO

When you regain control of Fayt, you’ll be on the upper deck of the Diplo, Quark’s main flagship. Put Maria in your party if you haven’t done so already then go explore the rooms. There’s a Save Point in the Sick Bay (purple doors) below and a few people to talk to in the other rooms. When you’re ready to proceed, go upstairs and enter the north-facing door to trigger a scene. When it ends, you’ll be prompted to save your game and switch over to Disc 2.

DISK 2

Once the scenes end, talk to everyone on board the flagship. Eventually, you’ll hear an announcement to meet in front of the Transporter Room. Go down to the 1st floor and approach the group waiting near the southern door. When asked, tell them you are ready to leave. Watch the scene that follows.

KIRLSA TRAINING FACILITY

The scene continues on Elicoor II where you will be forced to fight two Vendeeni Soldiers. They are not especially tough, even if you forgot to put Maria in your party and are fighting them with just Fayt and Cliff. More scenes follow and the group ends up in the facility’s Cafeteria.

Save your game and use the healing circle. If you want to invent stuff, check out the bench in the northeast corner; otherwise leave the room. Now that you have the Ring of Disintegration, you can complete the map of this area and get to a few blocked chests on the other floors. Whatever you decide, make your way over to the elevator in the northeast corner (from either the 1st or 2nd floors) and ride it up to the 4th floor.

Once there, head west until you reach a Save Point. Use it before going south to trigger a scene, during which an old friend shows up. The person who appears (Nel, Albel, or Roger) depends on earlier choices you made. There’s no time for chat-chat though, as you’re about to face a boss.

BOSS >> Biwig
HP 26,000 / MP 13,816
Drops: Ring of Vigor

Strategy: Biwig is basically an enhanced version of the Vendeeni Soldiers you’ve been fighting all along, so just go at him the way you normally would against a regular soldier. If he gives you any trouble at all, your characters’ levels are too low.

More scenes follow and the party ends up on a federation battleship.

BATTLESHIP AQUAELIE

When you take control of Fayt, you’ll find that you have two new party members: your cohort from Elicoor (mine was Nel) and Sophia, who starts at Level 1. Sophia will become a very good addition to the party if you spend time leveling her up (and there will be an opportunity to do so shortly). In the meantime, explore the large ship.

Take the southwestern door out to a corridor and loop around until you reach the western wing of the ship. Head south and visit Maria in the 1st room facing west to trigger a scene. Afterwards, continue south until you reach another set of doors. Sophia is inside the one facing west. When she asks about her mother, answer as you see fit. Your party member from Elicoor is the room opposite Sophia if you want to visit him/her; otherwise, enter the door at the very end of the hall.

Approach the console inside the Game Room if you want to use a virtual Armorer, Outfitter, or Workshop. If you need to recharge your Ring of Disintegration, there’s a Retail Rabbit in the workshop who will do it for a fee. When you’re finished, return to the hallway and go over to the eastern wing of the ship. Your room is the first door facing east, but before entering visit Cliff in the room next door. After speaking to him, go to your room and rest to trigger a scene. When it ends, use the Save Point and head back out into the hallway.

Return to the bridge and enter the Transport Room at the top of the stairs. Step on the pod to reach the Lower Starboard Transport area. Explore the rooms on this level if you like or just use the Lower Port Transport to get to the central corridor. The purple door leads to the Sick Bay if you need healing or want to save your game; otherwise, go down to the end of the corridor to reach the Long-Distance Transport Room. Step inside the pod to trigger a scene, during which you’ll arrive at Federation Station #5, known as Moonbase.

MOONBASE

* Items: Blackberries, Aquaberries, Ripe Berries x3, Perfect Berries, Magical Berries x2, 19000 Fol, 32000 Fol, 24000 Fol, Cooking Ingredients, Synthesis Materials x2, Ablative Shield, Battle Armor, Runic Cloak, Ablative Armor, Carbonite Armor, Life Saver, Mind Saver, Jewel of Alertness, Spike Shoes, Sunrise Dictionary, Laser Weapon, NC Program Disk, Trading Card 1, Trading Card EX1

Leave the Transport Room to trigger another scene. Afterwards, head west through the glass corridor until you reach the Recreational Zone. There’s an elevator pad to the north, which leads to a Game Room if you want to use its virtual services; otherwise, keep heading west until you trigger another scene. When it ends, you’ll be inside the base’s Auditorium. Speak to the folks inside then head back to the area you were in before the scene took over.

From the center circle, head north to the Armorer’s shop. He sells some excellent weapons and armor, but you’re going to find some for free in a moment, so it may be wise to hold off and only purchase things for Sophia right now. Back outside, head south to reach the Shopping Center where you can stock up on herbs and other health supplies. Afterwards, return to the circle and follow the northwestern path to a new area.

At the first intersection, head northeast to an elevator pad. Take it down to the Bar and look in the bottom corner for a chest containing 32,000 FOL. Speak to the people inside if you like; otherwise, ride the elevator back up and head northwest until you reach the Habitation Zone. Move forward then turn left at the intersection to find a chest with COOKING INGREDIENTS at the end of the path. Continue northwest until you reach the center platform. If you want to level up Sophia, this would be the time to start. She’ll probably die a couple of times during the early battles. Make sure you revive her with Fresh Sage before the battles end so she earns the Exp.

After defeating enemies on the platform, follow the northeast path over to a chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Return to the platform and head north to find another chest containing ABLATIVE ARMOR. Go back to the platform and regroup. When ready, take the western path to trigger a scene and boss fight.

BOSS >> Proclaimer
HP 50,000 / MP 50,000
Drops: Alchemy Materials (rare)

Strategy: The Proclaimer can whittle down your MP very quickly so be on constant guard. Use Berserk and Chain Combos to try and stop it from performing any battle skills. If your party is under-leveled, you may have to use a few revival herbs. Other than that, just whack away until it falls.

Following the battle, Peppita joins the party. She, too, starts at Level 1. Before continuing through this area, return to the Recreational Zone (southeast) and take the elevator back down to the Bar. Watch a scene, in which Peppita convinces Leon to open up the storeroom. Enter it to find 4 chests containing a RUNIC CLOAK, ABLATIVE SHIELD, SPIKE SHOES, and BATTLE ARMOR. Equip the new items then return to the area where you fought the Proclaimer.

Follow the western route to an intersection. Once there, head north to find a chest containing TRADING CARD 1 then return to the intersection. Take the southern path if you want to fight a couple of enemies; otherwise, continue traveling west to a new area.

Move past the intersection to the center platform. Defeat some enemies there then take the northern path up to a chest containing TRADING CARD EX1 and the northwestern one to a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. After getting the items, follow the southern path to an elevator pad. In the room below, look for a chest containing a LIFE SAVER then take the elevator back up and follow the southwestern path over to the Research Zone.

Continue forward to the center and loop around to get a chest containing the SUNRISE DICTIONARY. Backtrack to the intersection and head south to a second one. Follow the western path over to a chest containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS then return to the previous intersection and head east.

Pass the next intersection and head up to the center. Grab CARBONITE ARMOR from a chest to the north then return to the intersection and head south until you reach the next intersection. Go up to the center and follow the eastern path to a chest containing the NC PROGRAM DISK, which raises your success rate while engineering products. Backtrack to the previous intersection and head southwest to a new area.

At the intersection up ahead, travel northwest and fight a couple of enemies so that you reach the chest behind them. Once defeated, open it to get MAGICAL BERRIES then continue southwest through this area. You’ll reach a chest containing a JEWEL OF ALERTNESS and further up, a chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Use the elevator in between these two chests to get down to the Research Facility.

Once there, check the corners for two chests containing RIPE BERRIES and MAGICAL BERRIES then return to the area above. Continue northeast to an intersection. Follow the southeastern path to a 2nd intersection and head west, back toward the center structure. Continue all the way around until you reach another path heading west. Take it over to an elevator and ride down. Look inside the room for two chests containing PERFECT BERRIES and 24,000 FOL then go back up.

Return to the center and take the southeastern path down to an enemy guarding a chest. After defeating it, open the chest to receive 19,000 FOL. Continue down this path to another elevator. Take it down to a room with two chests containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS and a LASER WEAPON, which any character can equip. Now, ride the elevator back up and return to the center area. Follow the eastern path, past the intersection, to reach the Recreational Zone.

Move forward to the center and then head southeast to a chest containing AQUABERRIES. Take the path next to the chest down to an intersection and head southwest. Use the elevator at the end of the path to get down to another room. Inside, look for a chest containing a MIND SAVER then ride the elevator back up. Return to the center area. If you need to restock supplies or wish to save your game in the Auditorium, head northeast; otherwise, take the northwestern route back to the Research Zone.

At the first intersection, head north, then veer northeast to the next area. At the next intersection, head northwest and loop around, past two more intersections, until you reach the other side of the circle. Fight an enemy on the landing then continue forward until you reach a path going east. Follow it down to an elevator pad. Use the Save Point next to it then descend to trigger a long scene.

When you regain control of Fayt, leave the Research Center via the western elevator. Loop back around and head south, then east and finally northeast until you reach the shopping center again. Move forward to trigger a scene, in which you must choose whether or not to have Peppita join the party permanently. This is your only opportunity to get her, but note that doing so prevents you from adding one of your other Elicoorian friends (Roger, Albel, or Nel) later on. Either way, head east to the Transport Room and re-board the Aquaelie.

BATTLESHIP AQUAELIE / SHUTTLE CALNUS

Go to the bridge to trigger a few scenes. Afterwards, go down to the western guest quarters and visit Sophia in her room for an optional event. Speak to your other party members in their respective rooms or just enter Fayt’s quarters and choose to rest. Upon waking, you’ll hear an announcement to report to the bridge. Go there to watch another set of scenes.

When you regain control of Fayt, head south to the Long-Distance Transporter Room. Using it triggers more scenes. Afterwards, leave the Calnus Shuttle by taking the adjoining Transport down to the planet’s surface.

PLANET STYX

Use the Save Point and healing circle on the left then head north. There are no treasures or maps to complete here, but the enemies offer great Exp and Fol. Be warned, though. Some can wipe out your party in a matter of seconds; so you’ll be returning to that Save Point and healing circle frequently should you choose to engage them.

Veer east when you reach the flat rock formations then continue north to the next screen. Continue forward until you reach the Time Gate and a scene takes over. When it ends, the party will have passed through 4D space to another world.

ARKIVES - Residential District

* Items: Authentication Disk, 35000 Fol, Ripe Berries x2, Cooking Ingredients, Jewel of Alertness, Physical Enhancer, Blackberries

After meeting Flad Garrand, the party is forced to battle members of the security squad. They are fast and numerous but very weak. One hit should kill each of them. More scenes follow, during which you’ll get Flad’s AUTHENTICATION DISK. When you regain control of Fayt, explore the district.

Flad’s mom will not let you enter the house yet, so head south. Go around the corner and at the intersection, head north. Enter the house on the right and look for a chest containing 35,000 FOL in the lower circle. Leave the house and head west until you reach another intersection. Go north and follow the glass path up to another private home. Inside, you’ll find a chest near the ramp containing RIPE BERRIES. Return to the previous intersection and head west.

In the next house, you’ll find another chest containing RIPE BERRIES. Go outside and take the southern path past another intersection, to a T-section. Head west and enter the house at the end of the path. Get COOKING INGREDIENTS from a chest there then exit and follow the glass path east until you reach the large intersection. Head south now, around the corner and up to another home. Inside, you’ll find a chest containing a PHYSICAL ENHANCER.

Backtrack to the previous intersection and head east. Speak to Maria as you pass by or just continue forward to another home with a chest containing a JEWEL OF ALERTNESS. Exit and head west until you reach the central intersection. Go north, up to the portal encased in a clear box. Before using it, head all the way west until you can veer south. Follow the southern path down to the Eternal Sphere’s Terminal Room. This room is much like the Game Rooms you visited earlier, except the console is currently non-operational. Look for a chest here containing BLACKBERRIES then leave and return to the central portal. Step on it to transport to the next area.

ARKIVES – Satellite City / Spacetime Station

Head southwest, past another portal box, until you reach a woman standing inside a mechanical contraption. This is actually the Amazing Don Quixote shop, where you can buy basic health items. You’ll find a similar vendor in the northeast corner. The Calsup sells the same armor and weaponry available at Moonbase. When ready, enter the western portal to reach the Spacetime Station.

Once there, walk around and talk to people or just enter the Inn at the northern end of the city. Rest up and save your game then enter the building across from the Inn to trigger a scene. When it ends, step inside the transport to go to Gemity.

GEMITY THEME PARK

* Items: Book of Prophecies 5, Ripe Berries, Rapid Invocation, Synthesis Materials

Use the Save Point up ahead or just leave the station to trigger an event. When you regain control of Fayt, go behind the station to find three chests containing the BOOK OF PROPHECIES 5, RIPE BERRIES, and a RAPID INVOCATION. Walk back up and speak to the vendors on either the left or right side if you need healing; otherwise just enter the Tavern on the right. You’ll find a chest containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS at the top of the southern stairs. Now enter the Outfitter’s shop across the street.

Among the items sold here is the Keen Kitchen Knife, which raises your Cooking success rate. Buying an extra one also allows you to hire an inventor later on. Afterwards, enter the next shop on the right. Remul’s Armorer sells Laser Weapons and Ablative Shields, which virtually any party member can use. Buy some if you can afford to or just head over to the next two shops, a pharmacy and a bakery. When you’re finished shopping, continue north to the next area.

You’ll be standing in front of a large circle with several portals stationed around it. The portals to the south take you to the Bunny Races, where you can earn points and redeem them for prizes. Winning is actually rather difficult, but if you want to hire the best blacksmith in the game, earn 100 points and get the Bent Mystic Sword before leaving.

The northeast and northwest portals take you to the Runic Chess game, which uses the same basic rules as the puzzle you solved earlier in the Ruins of Barr. However, this time you are the white pieces (Thief/Symbologist/Warrior) playing against the black pieces on a large chessboard. Play a few rounds or just return to the circle outside.

The northern portal takes you to the Arena, where you can pay to use a Battle Simulator and earn prizes. Note that your party members gain Exp while fighting, so spend as much time as you want leveling them up here. Once you are finished with all of the games, step one of the portals attached to the center to reach the Eternal Sphere Reception area.

As soon as you arrive, you’ll hear an alert from the guild that 3 new inventors are available for hire: Ansala, Puffy, and the duo Aqua & Evia. Speak to the attendant up ahead and choose to enter the sphere. Watch the scene that follows. Afterwards, talk to all of your party members and then Maria a second time to trigger an event, during which you’ll be given a choice of where to go: Vanguard III, Elicoor II, Moonbase, or Styx.

Although you are required to visit only one region to advance the story, I’ve listed them in order below, noting some new things that can be achieved during each tour. Skip any area that doesn’t appeal to you.

PORTAL TRIP #1 – Vanguard III

* Items: 35000 Fol, Bunny Shoes, 65000 Fol, Earth Pixie, Perfect Berries, Trading Card Ex16

The portal deposits you in the upper part of Pesotto Forest. When you take control of Fayt, head north. Go visit Niklas in Whipple Village to trigger an optional event (and to rest for free) or just head northwest to the Ruins of Coffir.

Now that you have the Ring of Disintegration, you can complete the map and get to a few blocked treasures. Start by heading east until you reach a set of stairs blocked by some rubble. Use your ring to smash the debris and enter a brand new area. Demolish more rubble to the north then pass through the arch. Continue forward and look for a chest near the water. It contains 35,000 FOL. Go back up and continue north to the next area.

Once there, you’ll find some more rubble blocking a path to the west. Break it open then move forward to a chest containing BUNNY SHOES. Now backtrack to the entrance and head north, all the way up to Norton’s Hideout. Destroy the front door and enter the dilapidated building.

Look to the left for a chest containing 65,000 FOL then enter the adjoining room to find a chest containing an EARTH PIXIE. Go over to the right side of the building, where you’ll find a chest to the north containing PERFECT BERRIES. Enter the room in the southwest corner and grab TRADING CARD EX16 from a chest there. Upon exiting the building, you should have earned the 1/60 Scale Bunny for finally completing the map. Remember to sell it the next time you visit a shop, as keeping it will only slow the group down.

Return to the portal in Pesotto Village. Step on it to get back to Gemity, where you will watch a scene (assuming this was the first trip you took). Fayt will suggest going straight to the Sphere Company, but I recommend visiting Elicoor first. To do so, examine the console and pick a new destination.

PORTAL TRIP #2 – Elicoor II

* Items: Blueprints, Writing Materials x3, Compounding Elixirs x2, 25500 Fol, Ripe Berries, Trading Card Ex12

The portal deposits you in the Aire Hills. Head south to the well-worn path then make a choice as to where you want to go first, Kirlsa (west) or Arias (east). If Peppita did not join the party, you can recruit Nel, Roger, or Albel now. The person you want determines which path to take:

To recruit Nel, head east. Pass through Arias to Peterny and take the northern gate back to Aquios. Once there, visit Nel in her room at the castle. When given a choice, tell her you “do not have the time” and she’ll join the party.

To recruit Roger, take the western gate out of Peterny and go to Surferio. Visit Roger in his home and when you are presented with a choice, accept his help. Roger will then join the party.

To recruit Albel, head west to Kirlsa. Once there, go to Woltar’s Mansion in the garrison and speak with him in his upper office. He mentions that Albel is training where “sweat pours off the body” which can mean only one place – the Urssa Lava Caves.

Before going there, stop by the Kirlsa Tavern to find Ruddle and Rumina, who have finally reached their destination. After watching the scene, talk to Rumina and pay her 5,000 Fol for BLUEPRINTS that will help you reconstruct the robot in Surferio later on. Ruddle sells items now and there’s a Retail Rabbit in the tavern if you need to recharge your Ring of Disintegration. When ready, leave Kirlsa and go to the Urssa Lava Caves.

Once there, take the northern path up to the room where you fought the dragon Crosell. Approach Albel to trigger a scene, during which Fayt must fight him one-on-one. To make the battle even tougher, Albel’s strength is determined by Fayt’s level at the time of their meeting – so if you’re going to fight him, do it sooner rather than later. Note that the battle takes place whether or not Albel can be recruited.

BOSS >> Albel
HP 50,000+ / MP 10,000+
Drops: (varies)

Strategy: Albel’s HP/MP values are based on your initial meeting, so assume they will only grow if you face him later on. Your best bet is to bring lots of healing items so you don’t waste time using spells during the encounter. Try to attack his MP as it is still weaker than his HP. Berserk allows you to rack up some hefty damage as well. Other than that, Albel is the same as the first time you faced him so use whatever strategy worked the last time.

Watch the scene that follows. If you can recruit Albel, he will say as much; otherwise the scene just ends. The item he drops depends on his level. If you fight him early, he will drop a Demon’s Symbol. If you fight him at higher levels, he drops either a Philosopher’s Symbol or Boots of Prowess.

Explore the dragon’s cave before leaving. The three chambers on the right contain chests with WRITING MATERIALS, COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS x2, and 25,500 FOL. The three chambers on the left have chests containing WRITING MATERIALS x2, RIPE BERRIES, and TRADING CARD EX12. While in Urssa, you can also hire Vanilla by paying him 30,000 Fol for his engineering services.

Feel free to explore other areas of Elicoor II to hire inventors, complete maps and unearth new treasures with your Ring of Disintegration. Duggus Forest and the various Mines are particularly fruitful. When ready, return to the Aire Hills and take the portal back to Gemity.

PORTAL TRIP #3 – Moonbase / Sol III (Luna)

If you choose to visit Moonbase (a.k.a. Sol III, First Satellite Luna), you will find that it is no different than the first time you visited.

PORTAL TRIP #4 – Styx

Like Moonbase, the Planet Styx is no different than the first time you visited…

GEMITY / ARKIVES

* Items: Smithy Hammer

If this is your first trip back, you’ll see a scene in which Fayt suggests going to the Sphere Company. If you are returning from one of the additional locations, you’ll simply gain control of Fayt. Either way, leave the amusement area and go back to the Spacetime Station. Approach the portal to trigger an event, during which the group is given access to the Sphere Company. Before going there, return to Arkives and use the portals to get back to the Residential District.

Once there, enter Flad’s house in the northeast corner and take the elevator tube up to the 2nd floor. Look for a chest on the left edge containing the SMITHY HAMMER. After leaving Flad’s house, you can visit the Eternal Sphere’s Terminal Room to the south, which is now operational. Use the virtual workshop, armorer or outfitter inside then head back to the Spacetime Station. Select the Sphere Company as your next destination.

SPHERE COMPANY

* Items: Ripe Berries x2, Perfect Berries, Analeptic Physical Enhancer, Mental Enhancer x2, 15000 Fol, Wind Pixie, Synthesis Materials x2, Trading Card 2, Laser Weapon, Ceramic Gauntlet, Dremela’s Tool Set, Uninstaller, Dilapidated Textbook, Celestial Pixie
* Map Completion: 1/1 Scale Bunny

Watch a scene as you enter and then battle some Security Soldiers, using the same tactics as before. After defeating them, Azazer challenges you himself.

BOSS >> Azazer
HP 99,000 / MP 9,000
Drops: Charm of Tranquility

Strategy: Azazer is fast and attacks with MP draining skills, however his own MP is very low, so exploit that weakness. As with other boss fights, try to surround him then use as many Cancel Combos as you can before he has a chance to pull off a skill of his own. Stay healthy and pound away until he falls.

Watch the scene that follows and when you gain control of Fayt, use both the healing circle and Save Point up ahead. When ready, enter the door to the north. You’ll come across some tough enemies on these floors that mostly use MP damaging skills, so make sure to keep up your health. Characters at high enough levels should have no problem.

Start by going west. At the first T-section, head north until you reach a door. Enter and head east. Round the corner and go to the end of the path where you’ll find a thin passage facing west. Follow it into a stairwell and ascend to the 2nd floor.

Defeat the Robo Gunners on top then take the southeast exit to a corridor. Head north to the end then follow the western path to a new area. After defeating some Security Guards, take the western exit to another stairwell. Open the chest inside for some PERFECT BERRIES then go up to the 3rd floor.

Once there, head north then take the western path to a new room. Clear out the enemies inside and open a chest containing a MENTAL ENHANCER. Return to the previous room and exit to the northwest. Head north up the corridor until you reach a path heading west. Follow it over to a room facing north. Grab RIPE BERRIES from the chest inside then return to the previous area. Take the southern route now to a room with a chest containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS. Return to the previous room and go west to reach the corridor. Once there, head north. Kill the Robo Gunners inside then enter a stairwell to the southeast. Grab an ANALEPTIC from the chest here before going up to the 4th floor.

Defeat the enemies up above then take the northeast exit to a corridor. Follow the corridor north, around a corner and past the first T-section, until you can travel north again. Take this path up to another T-section and head east. Enter the north-facing door there. Open two chests inside to get DREMELA’S TOOL SET and a PHYSICAL ENHANCER. Backtrack to the T-section and head north now. When you reach the end of the path, head west.

Fight two Robo Gunners inside the next room then open the chest to get a WIND PIXIE. Return to the corridor and continue south, past the T-section, until you reach the bottom. Once there, head west and enter the door at the end. Kill the Soldiers inside then take the southern exit out to another corridor. Head east and enter the door at the other end to reach the next stairwell. Go up to the 5th floor.

Use the Save Point on top then exit to the north. Defeat the Gunner then take the northwest exit to another corridor. Move forward until you trigger a scene. When it ends, head south. Go through the door at the end to trigger another scene, during which you’ll receive the UNINSTALLER. Before leaving the room, talk to Shar, then to her sister Leiria, who is sitting at a console in the northeast corner. She will give you BLUEBERRIES, BLACKBERRIES, a FRUITY POTION, a VERDUROUS POTION, a RESURRECTION ELIXIR and the AI PROGRAM. If you speak to her a second time, you can buy health items from her as well. After stocking up, talk to Aire (who is sitting at another console in the southwest) who will heal your party.

When ready, exit the room via the southwest door. Head down the hall until a scene takes over, during which you must fight two of the company owner’s goons.

BOSS >> Belzeber
HP 62,000 / MP 30,000

BOSS >> Berial
HP 70,000 / MP 5,000
Drops: Scholar’s Bracelet

Strategy: Together, these guys are pretty tough so focus on taking one of them out at a time. Start with Belzeber if you can, as his rocket attacks wreak havoc on your party. Once he’s out of the way, focus on Berial using a standard flurry of combos and sheer physical might. As usual, pay attention to your health and revive any fallen members before the end so they can gain some decent Exp.

Watch another scene and when you’re back in control of Fayt, return to the Research Room. Have Aire heal the party again and use the newly installed Save Point. When ready, exit the room via the northern door. Continue north through the corridor, as well as the room up ahead. In the next corridor, head west and enter the door at the end.

Kill the Robo Gunner inside then take the southwest path to another corridor. Head east into a room with a chest containing a LASER WEAPON. Now, return to the corridor and head south, until you reach a 2nd path facing east. Open the chest inside to get a MENTAL ENHANCER then return to the corridor. Now head north, back to the room with the Robo Gunner. Once there, take the northeast exit to a new corridor.

Follow this corridor east, all the way to the end, and enter the next room. Defeat the enemies inside so that you reach 4 chests containing a CERAMIC GAUNTLET, TRADING CARD 2, RIPE BERRIES, and SYNTHESIS MATERIALS. After opening the chests, take the northwest exit to a new room. Approach the Elevator Control Panel up ahead and choose to activate it.

Leave the room and head back towards the 5th floor stairwell (west, southwest, east) until you reach a room containing two operational elevator tubes. The one facing south takes you down to the lower floors and the other one goes all the way up to the 211th floor. Feel free to explore floors 6-100 (101-210 are currently unavailable) or just go straight to the 211th floor. You’ll have another opportunity to visit these floors later if you want to skip them now.

Once you reach the 211th floor, exit the elevator room. In the hallway outside, follow the eastern route until you are facing north again. Enter the room at the end. The western door leads to a Save Point and healing circle but before going there, continue heading north until you get to a door facing west. Enter to find a chest containing the DILAPIDATED TEXTBOOK, which teaches the “Ring Wave” Aura. Now backtrack to the room with the Save Point and head west.

Defeat a few more Robo Gunners while continuing north until you reach a room facing east. Inside, you’ll find a chest with a CELESTIAL PIXIE. Backtrack to the Save Point room again. Heal up and save your game before continuing through the door to the north. Watch the scene that follows. When it ends, the group will be back on the planet Styx.

PLANET STYX

While Sophia leaves to take care of the uninstaller, the rest of the party must engage in three back-to-back battles. If Sophia is currently in your lineup, you’ll be prompted to replace her with someone else. As soon as you do, the first boss attacks.

BOSS >> Proclaimer
HP 65,000 / MP 4,000

Strategy: Other than its increased HP, this Proclaimer is no different than the one you fought back at Moonbase so apply the same tactics. Try to keep your party’s health up throughout, as there will be no rest in between battles.

BOSS >> Enforcer
HP 82,000 / MP 35,000
Drops: Jewel of Refuge, Crafting Materials (rare)

Strategy: If you’re hurting from the last battle, this one will be tough. Let your other party members go in for the initial attacks while you spend some time healing them (either with spells or items), then jump in and help. Enforcer will try to Confuse your party, so watch out for that, too. Health is critical here as your toughest battle is still ahead.

BOSS >> Convictor
HP 120,000 / MP 10,000
Drops: Jewel of Refuge

Strategy: This boss is the hardest out of the three and if you don’t pay attention to your health, the party will be dead in no time. Convictor uses strong attacks like Whirlwind and he can chain them together, making it impossible for you to recover in time to hit back. If you see this skill name appear at the top of the screen, it’s best to run. Try to exploit the boss’ relatively low MP and hit from behind if you can. Other than that, just be patient and stay sharp.

After three tough battles, Sophia rejoins the party and the scenes continue. Once you take control of Fayt, head south to the nearby Save Point and healing circle. Use both, then continue south down the barren mountain until another scene takes over. It seems that earthquakes have altered the terrain, making it harder to locate the shuttle down below. Note that enemies in this region have become stronger also.

When the scene ends, head south along the ridge until you reach a big crack in the earth. Veer slightly east now and go down to a Robo Gunner blocking the path ahead. Kill it then continue south until a scene takes over. When it ends, you’ll be back on board the Diplo.

FLAGSHIP DIPLO

Leave the bridge and talk to the duo sitting on a bench outside to trigger a lengthy conversation. Afterwards, speak to Marietta and Steeg again then talk to everyone else on board the ship. Once you’ve done so, return to Mirage on the bridge. Speak to her a second time to prompt a scene, during which she joins the party for good.

If you choose to use her, you’ll find that Mirage is capable of many of the same skills as Cliff and Maria plus a few of her own. Spend some time upgrading her equipment and stats, then head south to the Transporter Room. As you step inside the pod, a scene takes over.

IRISA FIELDS / SACRED CITY OF AQUIOS

The group is deposited in Irisa Fields close to the entrance of Aquios. Note that enemies from Styx have replaced the ones on Elicoor. Head south along the lower path then turn left and take the northern route up to Aquios.

As soon as you enter the city, you’ll get an alert from the guild that 3 new inventors are available for hire: Meryl, Count Noppen, and Boyd. Before going to the castle, spend some checking out the new items for sale in town. If you completed the Ruddle and Rumina side-quest, enter the house next to the waterfall in the northwest corner to find they have superior weapons and armor for sale. Buy what you can afford then go up to the castle.

Enter the Audience Chamber to trigger a scene, during which the party learns what to do next. When ready, go down to the Temple and enter the secret passage.

SEALED CAVERN

Follow the passage down to the Sealed Cavern and proceed north then west towards the Shrine of Kaddan entrance. Just before reaching it, you will trigger a scene wherein you have to fight a boss.

BOSS >> Lesser Eye
HP 230,000 / MP 56,000
Drops: Synthesis Materials

Strategy: This boss is slow and fairly easy to defeat despite the huge amount of HP it has, so long as you avoid the red circle it casts under itself. When you see it, run away or else Lesser Eye will rapidly drain both your MP and HP. If you have the Dimension Door skill, use it. Air Raid also works well.

After the battle, enter the Shrine of Kaddan.

SHRINE OF KADDAN

* Items: Sacred Orb

Head north. When you get to a hole in the wall, head east until you reach the room with a Save Point. Use it before entering the door further north.

BOSS >> Dark Armor x3
HP 67,000 / MP 6,000

Strategy: Although the Dark Armors have less HP, they make up for it in strength. Try to kill one at a time and use a lot of Chain Combos. When you see them raise their big hammers, run away or else they’ll pummel you to death.

Afterwards, continue north and in the next room, head east again. Follow the winding corridor north and continue up the stairs. At the top, another boss awaits.

BOSS >> Crystal Statue
HP 168,000 / MP 10,000
Drops: Compounding Elixirs

Strategy: The Crystal Statue is just like the Crystal Cerberus you fought here earlier but with more HP. Keep it pinned down in a corner and wail on it with a constant flurry of melee attacks before it can zip away.

After the battle, enter the door to the north and continue forward until you reach a room with another Crystal creature. Use the same strategy to defeat it and note that you will be facing more of them as you go. Continue forward to the next room. Heal the party before entering the door up ahead.

BOSS >> Dark Eye
HP 330,000 / MP 56,000

Strategy: This boss is almost identical to the Lesser Eye you fought in the Sealed Cavern so apply the same tactics. The main difference is that this boss has more HP so it may take you an extra couple of minutes to defeat it.

Thankfully, that was the last boss you’ll face for a while. Continue north then head east around the corner until you reach the two block puzzle rooms. Navigate through them then continue north until you reach a room with a Save Point. Enter the door up ahead and examine the central pedestal to trigger a scene. When it ends, you’ll receive the SACRED ORB. Now, head all the way back to Castle Aquaria. Yes, really.

CASTLE AQUARIA

As soon as you enter the Great Temple, you’ll hear an alert from the guild that 3 final inventors are available for hire: Chilico, Osman the Sage, and Louise the Diviner. Return to the Audience Chamber to trigger a scene, in which the group learns of their next destination. Speak to the queen afterwards if you need healing; otherwise, leave the castle and prepare for the journey ahead.

JOURNEY TO MOSEL

Now is the time to finish up everything you wanted to do on Elicoor (fill in maps, hire inventors, seek hidden treasure, create items, etc.) as there will be few opportunities to do so after this point. Make sure to fully stock up on health items - especially Resurrection Elixirs - before heading off to Surferio.

Once there, rest and save at the village chief’s house then take the stairs up to the Passage From Parch To Plenty. If you took Adray along earlier in the game, you’ll see a scene and he’ll join the party for good. Either way, continue northwest through the passage until you reach the entrance to Mosel Dunes.

MOSEL DUNES / ANCIENT RUINS

* Items: Perfect Berries, Synthesis Materials

As soon as you enter the region, one of Luther’s minions attacks.

BOSS >> Chimera
HP 200,000 / MP 28,000
Drops: War God’s Symbol, Cooking Ingredients

Strategy: This boss is capable of paralyzing you so hopefully you brought some herbs to counteract the effect. Avoid its tail, which can damage you with even the slightest touch. Keep an eye on your party’s HP at all times, as chances are they’ll be smacked by that tail a lot.

After the battle, head north to the next screen. Note that Chimeras become common enemies up ahead but there are even tougher ones here also, so be careful. Continue heading northeast through the dunes until you reach the entrance to the Ancient Ruins. Use the Save Point then go inside.

Head north to the first corridor. Once there, veer west and go through the door at the far end. Follow the corridor up to the first door on the right. Use the Save Point inside then enter the door to the south.

BOSS >> Stone Golem
HP 300,000 / MP 20,000
Drops: Synthesis Materials

Strategy: This boss is slow but strong. Avoid standing directly under him for too long, as he can squash your entire party merely by sitting down. Slash and run or use symbology from a distance, and the boss should go down pretty quickly.

Afterwards, you’ll notice two open stairwells at the far end of the room. The eastern one leads to a Subterranean Waterway and is entirely optional (see below). The western one advances the story. For the moment, take the western stairs down to trigger a scene. When it ends, you can return to the Ancient Ruins by stepping through the blue wall directly south. I suggest doing so if only to grab two treasures that await on the other side. This is, in fact, your LAST CHANCE to go back and finish any business on Elicoor, so do it now or never…

If you decided to return through the blue wall, you’ll find yourself in a room on the western end of the Ancient Ruins. Open the two chests inside to get PERFECT BERRIES and SYNTHESIS MATERIALS then use the stairs to the right to get back to the central room. Again, choose to take the eastern set of stairs down to an optional dungeon or take the western stairs to return to the owner’s development lab. Skip the section below to bypass the optional dungeon.

SUBTERRANEAN WATERWAY – OPTIONAL

* Items: Blueberries x2, 160000 Fol, Smithery Materials, Synthesis Materials x4, Trading Card Ex6, Cooking Ingredients, Ring of Vigor, Magical Berries, Ripe Berries, Perfect Berries, Trading Card 4, Star Guard, Decrepit Tome, Blemished Textbook
* Map Completion: 1/1 Scale Bunny

Starting at the bottom of the stairs, head north past a t-section until you reach a 4-way split. Take the western path to another intersection and go south to find a chest with BLUEBERRIES at the end of the path. Backtrack to the 4-way split and head east now. Follow the eastern path past another t-section and go north again, up to a chest containing BLUEBERRIES. Back at the intersection, continue east then veer north until you can travel east again. Wind around south to reach the water’s edge.

Examine the rock-looking object there to find that it’s actually a hauler creature that you can ride. Jump on and head south through the water until you can go northwest. Keep paddling north until you get to an intersection. Follow the northwest passage up to a stack of bricks. Go under the walkway there, moving west now.

Head north in the new area then veer west again, under another walkway, until you reach the open water. You’ll find a few ramps in this area where you can de-board and search for treasure. The center dock leads to a chest containing COOKING INGREDIENTS. Towards the northwest, you’ll find a ramp that leads to a chest containing 160,000 FOL and one containing SMITHERY MATERIALS. You can access a 3rd chest by using the Ring of Disintegration. Doing so gets you some PERFECT BERRIES. Get back on the hauler and use the center water channel to return to the first area. Once there, head over to a dock in the southwest corner. Disembark and meet the boss waiting above.

BOSS >> Amoeba Giant
HP 220,000 / MP 25,000
Dropped Item – Writing Materials (rare)

Strategy: Avoid the boss’ spinning arm attack, as it will waste your party. Chain together as many strong melee attacks as you can and be patient. Defeating this boss may take some extra time because it has the ability to heal itself.

When the giant is defeated, he’ll cause a tsunami-like quake that dries up the waterway, allowing you to walk on the sand below. Go down to where you left the hauler (which was scared off during the quake) and start walking. There are two chests in the immediate area that contain SYNTHESIS MATERIALS and TRADING CARD EX6. After getting the items, head north until you reach a big wall. Turn right and continue north to exit the area.

Now go all the way around to reach the eastern exit. On your way, you’ll see a thin path leading to a raised slab in the southeast corner. Use the notches to climb onto the slab and open the chest above to get a RING OF VALOR. Go back down and head south to the next area.

Continue traveling south and avoid fighting the glowing sphere enemies if you can (you’ll need one of them alive in a moment). When you reach the bottom wall, look for a set of pillars to the west. Destroy them then move forward to find a plate buried in the ground. You must lure one of the glowing creatures to this spot in order to open the plate. If successful, a boss appears.

BOSS >> Aurora Monster
HP 285,000 / MP 212,025
Drops: Synthesis Materials

Strategy: Don’t be fooled by the boss’ similarity to other monsters. His attacks are fierce, especially the MP draining ones. Try to use long-distance attacks and avoid getting caught by his tentacles. As usual, Cancel Combos work well. If you are having trouble, just slash and run. Use Stun to gain enough time to heal.

Watch a scene afterwards then go through the door. Head northwest to the next room then travel north until you reach a room on the right. Enter to find a chest containing SMITHERY MATERIALS. Exit and head east now. Enter the door in the southeast corner to find a chest containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS then exit through the eastern door. Move forward until you find a door blocked by debris.

Use your Ring to destroy the debris then enter the room to find two chests containing MAGICAL BERRIES and TRADING CARD 4. Leave and take the western door to the next area. Use the Save Point up ahead. When ready, enter the door beyond to trigger a scene involving Robin Wind.

BOSS >> Robin Wind
HP 120,000 / MP 30,000

BOSS >> Aquaregia
HP 115,400 / MP 50,000
Drops: Jewel of Refuge (rare)

BOSS >> Nova Blaze
HP 135,000 / MP 40,000
Drops: Fire Charm (rare)

Strategy: Robin Wind will be as wily as the first time, plus he’s brought two companions to help him fight. Try to focus your attacks on one of them at a time, ideally starting with Robin Wind, who is by far the deadliest. Take advantage of the large battle stage to dodge their area attacks. Other than that, be patient and they will eventually perish.

Afterwards, head north until you reach a ghost, with whom you can play a round of Runic Chess. If you remember that Thief beats Symbologist, Symbologist beats Warrior, and Warrior beats Thief – then you’ll win rather easily. If you do, the ghost and chessboard will vanish, revealing a set of stairs. Go down to find several chests containing two sets of SYNTHESIS MATERIALS as well as a STAR GUARD, BLEMISHED TEXTBOOK, and DECREPIT TOME.

Once you’ve collected all of the items, return to the upper level of the Ancient Ruins. Save your game in the room next to the stairwell chamber then take the western set of stairs back to the blue wall. Enter Luther’s development lab. It’s worth mentioning again that moving forward prevents you from returning to Elicoor, so do so only when ready.

FIREWALL

* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny

Leave the lab through the western exit and continue down the corridor to a door at the other end. Enter and move forward until you get to the first door facing east. Enter. At the intersection, take the western path down to another door. Kill the enemy inside then use the transporter tube to reach a new area.

An Elder Eye attacks as soon as you arrive. After defeating it, leave the transporter room. Continue west past the intersection and enter the door at the other end. Move forward to the next intersection. Once there, follow the eastern path to a door. Enter and move forward to a 3-way split. Take the northeast path over to a door, while avoiding the white polyhedrons. If you get knocked down, you’ll have to start from the entrance again.

After safely reaching the northeast exit, navigate past more polyhedrons to an intersection. Follow the western route to a door. Navigate through the next room north, then west, until you reach the exit. Fight an enemy in the adjoining corridor then take the northern path to another crossroad. From here, go west and enter the next room.

Defeat the Lesser Eye inside then approach the center device to activate it. After doing so, leave the room and head south back down the corridor, until you get to the 2nd door facing east. Activate the device inside then return to the corridor and go north. Enter the newly unlocked door to the east.

Avoid more polyhedrons while going towards the southern exit at the far end of the room. Defeat an enemy in the adjacent corridor then head east to the next room. Navigate past more polyhedrons to get to the northern exit. Kill the Elder Eye inside then continue forward to a door facing east. Activate the device inside then return to the previous room. Move towards the Elder Eye and take the western exit now.

You’ll arrive in another polyhedron room except this one is a lot larger. Navigate through the area, heading west until you reach a Save Point. The large blue door in front of it needs to be unlocked. Start by heading east from the Save Point. When you reach another locked door, go north and follow the path around until you can head east. At the next intersection, head north and continue winding around to the northwest corner of the room. Enter the door there.

After defeating the Lesser Eye up ahead, enter the door to the north. Follow the corridor up to a door and kill another Lesser Eye inside. Once cleared, activate the device on the east side of the room. Now, backtrack all the way to the Save Point. Use it before entering the large blue door beyond.

BOSS >> Battlecopter
HP 200,000 / MP 30,000
Drops: Machinery Materials

Strategy: Don’t bother defending in this battle. Focus instead on taking out the Battlecopter as quickly as possible, as its attacks only get stronger the longer you continue to fight. When it rises, you cannot hit it, so just move out of the way until it descends again. As usual, combos and Berserk mode work well so long as your characters remain healthy.

Afterwards, move forward and use the Save Point. When ready, enter the teleporter next to the switch to trigger a scene.

SPIRAL TOWER

* Items: Blackberries x3, Ripe Berries, Perfect Berries, Magical Berries, 62700 Fol, Compounding Materials x2, Synthesis Materials x2, Trading Card 3, Bunny Shoes, Fire Absorption, Fenrir’s Crystal, Efreet Crystal x2, Worn-Out Textbook
* Map Completion: 1/60 Scale Bunny

When you regain control of Fayt, head north until you reach a set of crystals blocking the path. Use your Ring of Disintegration to smash the collection and move forward along the linear path until you get to an intersection. Once there, head south. When you reach another intersection blocked by crystals, take the eastern path to a chest containing TRADING CARD 3 then return to the intersection.

Smash the crystals and head north to an area with an enemy and a 3-way split. Take the eastern path first, up to a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Return to the 3-way split and go northwest now. Destroy some crystals up ahead then move forward to an intersection. Take the northern route up to an elevator and ascend to the 2nd level. Use the Save Point on top then go north until a scene takes over.

BOSS >> Pseudo Blair
HP 100,000 / MP 13,992

Strategy: The boss uses a barrage of different spells but none of them do much harm. Her relatively low HP should make for a swift victory; in fact, one or two good hits will most likely kill her.

Watch the scene that follows then return to the Save Point and use it before continuing north. Move along the linear path until you trigger another scene, in which you’ll learn that 3 crystals need to be activated on this level before you can use the elevator. Start by going west until you reach a green crystal shrouded by a strange object. Examining the crystal unleashes its guardian.

BOSS >> Ruktogias
HP 280,000 / MP 30,000

Strategy: This boss has some strong attacks, so make sure you stay on top of your health, otherwise you’ll find yourself reviving party members frequently – and you really need to save those elixirs for later. Try and get behind the boss to deal high damage with combos and don’t waste time trying to hit the boss when he’s in the air.

Once the green crystal is activated, return to the elevator room where you fought Pseudo Blair and take the eastern path this time. Eventually, you’ll reach a red crystal where a host of guardians await.

BOSS >> Chimera Hawk x3
HP 85,000 / MP 28,000

Strategy: This trio does less damage than the previous boss, so either defeat them using area attacks or take out one at a time. Dimension Door is likely to hit more than one, so try and chain that with Aerial Raid and Berserk. Just make sure you don’t let them perform their area attack or you might face an unexpected defeat.

Afterwards, the red crystal activates and its time to return to the elevator room. Once there, take the western path. Examine the blue crystal at the end of the path to engage the final guardians.

BOSS >> Death Monster x3
HP 120,000 / MP 30,000

Strategy: This may be the toughest battle of the three due to their poison breath attacks. Use Aquaberries to counter the status effect and heal characters as necessary. Use Dimension Door to soften up the group then finish off each one using combos from behind.

Once the third crystal is activated, return to Blair in the north. Watch a scene then backtrack to the elevator room. Approach the platform to trigger another scene then ride up to the 3rd level. Use the Save Point on top then head north to the next area. Inside, you’ll find a couple of crystals that change color. Move past them and enter the door further north. Continue forward until you reach a doorway facing east. Enter and approach the purplish door at the far end to trigger a brief scene. Leave the room and follow the hallway west.

Enter the room at the end to find two crystals flanked by a larger one with the number 2 written on it. The idea is to use your Ring of Disintegration to change the color of the crystals on each side so that the big one matches the color of the door you’re trying to unlock. The number indicates how many moves you have to do it in. Failing to create the correct color results in a fight. For now, use your ring to change each crystal’s color once so the center one matches purple.

If done correctly, a chest will appear. Open it get an EFREET CRYSTAL then return to the purple door room. Now that it’s open, go inside. Head south down the new hallway, all the way around until you reach a doorway facing north. Approach the orange door inside to see a scene showing that you’ll have 10 turns to unlock it. Return to the hallway and follow it around until you get to the first door facing south. You’ll find the new crystal puzzle inside.

Change the color of the clear crystal (atop the red pedestal) 9 times followed by the other crystal once. Grab another EFREET CRYSTAL from the chest that appears then return to the orange door. Pass through to an area with enemies and a chest containing BLACKBERRIES. Continue further east to find a 2nd chest containing a WORN-OUT TEXTBOOK, which teaches the wide-area homing aura. Backtrack to the hallway and follow it around to a door facing east. Examine the green door inside to reveal 6 moves.

Leave and follow the hallway north. Go around the corner and enter the room at the far end to find the next crystal puzzle. Here, change the color of each crystal 3 times then open the chest that appears to obtain FENRIR’S CRYSTAL. Return to the green door afterwards and enter. Follow the new passage north to an area with enemies then continue northeast to another circular platform. Enter the door to the southeast.

Inside, you’ll find a red door as well as the crystals used to open it. Change the color of the crystal sitting atop the red pedestal once then keep changing the other one until the red door opens. Enter to find two chests containing PERFECT BERRIES and 62,700 FOL. Now, backtrack to the circular room where you fought the enemies and enter the door to the northwest. After fighting off some more enemies, take the western exit to a new hallway and head south. Enter the first room facing west. Smash some crystals to gain access to the yellow door further up. Examine it to see that you have 16 moves to solve this puzzle.

Destroy the crystals again and enter the room facing north. Change the color of the crystal atop the red pedestal twice, then alter the other one 4 times. Return to the yellow door and enter an elevator room. Ride up to the 4th level. Once there, you’ll see another elevator pad and nothing else. Take it up to the 5th level then use another one to get to the 6th. Here, you’ll find a Save Point. Use it before entering the door to the north.

Destroy some crystals then use the door in the northeast corner to reach a new area. Head north to an intersection then go west. Enter the door at the other end. Exit this circular room using the southwestern door then follow the hallway all the way around to a door at the end. Outside, you’ll find three chests containing SYNTHESIS MATERIALS, RIPE BERRIES, and COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. After getting the items, backtrack to the hallway where you originally veered west. Once there, head north to the next area.

Open two chests in this room to obtain SYNTHESIS MATERIALS and BLACKBERRIES. You’ll see 3 doors surrounding a non-operational elevator here. Start by taking the northwestern door to an area with enemies. Continue heading northwest to the next area. Use the door to the south to get to an empty room. Examining the room more closely, you’ll find a crack on the western wall. Destroy it to reach a switch room. Step on the pad inside then backtrack to the central elevator area.

Take the southeastern route now to reach a new area. Once there, use the southwest exit to get to a room with some crystals. Destroy them to access a chest containing a FIRE ABSORPTION item. Return to the previous area and use the door in the southeast corner. You’ll find another crack on the wall facing south. Destroy it to reveal another switch room. Depress the switch then backtrack to the elevator room.

Enter the northeastern door now and continue through the area until you get to a hallway leading south. Follow it down to a doorway facing east. Enter to find a chest containing MAGICAL BERRIES. Return to the hallway and continue south to a room with a chest containing COMPOUNDING ELIXIRS. Leave and head west at the intersection to find the last cracked wall. Destroy it and step on the switch inside. Backtrack to the elevator and ride up to the 7th level.

Once there, head east to another elevator pad. Take it up to the 8th level and repeat the procedure until you reach the 10th floor. You’ll see 3 staircases in front of you. Other than filling in the map, there’s nothing to be gained by following the left or right ones, so climb up the center. Continue north, straight through, until you reach the final Save Point.

Use it and make sure your party is fully prepared before proceeding. When ready, move forward to trigger a lengthy sequence, during which you’ll engage in back-to-back battles against the final boss.

BOSS >> Luther
HP 200,000 / MP 60,000

Strategy: In his first form, Luther is not terribly difficult to defeat. He uses basic spear attacks, which you can guard or dodge easily. The main thing to focus on is keeping your party’s HP/MP near max before defeating him as his second incarnation is going to be a lot harder.

FINAL BOSS >> Luther (2nd form)
HP 400,000 / MP 120,000

Strategy: Hopefully you saved a few resurrection items because it’s likely you’ll die a few times before defeating Luther in his final form. The boss has added many new attacks to his arsenal including one that can paralyze you. Make sure to undo this effect as quickly as possible or Luther will keep slamming the affected party member to death. His most deadly attack is the Insanity Prelude, which covers the entire battlefield with red smoke. To avoid certain death, just stand still while the spell is in effect and wait for the smoke to dissipate. Most likely, at least one of your characters will have moved during that time, so revive them as quickly as possible. The most effective attacks against Luther seem to be Dimension Door and Air Raid, with the Berserk aura turned on. Don’t be afraid to use plenty of health potions. After all, this is the final battle…

Upon defeating Luther, watch the wrap-up scenes, including those following the end credits. Your “cleared” game will be saved at the very end. Reloading this file unlocks a host of bonus features.
