LAPIS WOODS

The game starts off with a lengthy cutscene introducing Klein (Atelier’s hero), as well as several characters he will meet during his journey. As soon as you take control of Klein, a Falcon Hawk attacks and Lita jumps in to help. Fight the bird normally until it flies away.

After watching another scene, approach the large green boulder next to you to trigger a tutorial on elemental extraction. When it ends, try extracting some objects in the immediate area (stones, bushes, signs, etc.). Use L1 to select the action then press Square while standing in front of the object you want to extract. If successful, the object will disappear. Afterwards, press Circle to jump onto the roots of the tree and extract the blue crystal, which allows you to start synthesizing the elements you collect.

Move forward to the trunk and press X to climb up. On top, you’ll find a chest containing a Feather Charm. Equip it then climb back down and head north until a scene takes over. The Falcon Hawk has returned but this time you have some mana to use against it. Select Mana Synthesis from the battle menu and create a Bomb Ice. Toss it on the bird for an easy victory. Watch the title sequence that follows. When it ends, you’ll be in the city of Kavoc.

KAVOC

When you gain control, extract elements from the flowerpots, barrels, and crates you see in the center of town. Also, collect any items that have a sparkle around them and make sure to grab the pouch with 280 Cole on top of the crates. Note that some items are unreachable right now. When finished, enter the Tavern marked with a beer mug sign.

Norman, the barkeep, asks if you’d like to earn some money by dropping off lunchboxes to the Magic Shop and Grocery Store clerks. A brief tutorial explains that you can use the action dial to check the status of a mission if you aren’t sure what to do next. A blue journal is placed on one of the tables. Use it to save your game. If you need healing, talk to Popo who is standing in the corner; otherwise, exit the bar. Use the stack of objects next to the bar to jump onto the roof. Once there, head right and follow the stone bridge down for a pouch with some Cole. Cross back over and head north up the wooden ramp. You’ll find a weapon shop up ahead but Hagel’s prices are too steep right now, so return to the center of town.

You’ll notice that objects in the center of town have regenerated so extract additional elements from them if you wish. Head south to the grocery store and speak to the proprietor inside. After Lyla takes one of the lunchboxes, check her inventory to see what she sells. When finished, exit the store and follow the path beyond the crates to the upper part of town. Once there, enter the first building on the right. Speak to Veola, the Magic Shop owner, to give her the lunchbox. She sells two items at the moment (Medicine and Bombs) but you’ll be able to synthesize new items here later. Leave the shop and explore the rest of this area.

When an X appears over a barrel, make sure to check the contents rather than extracting it as there may be a valuable item inside. The Well Water box is also marked with an X. Grab some then climb up the ladder next to the church. Go all the way around the balcony to get a Mini Pendelook hidden in the corner then climb back down. If you can’t reach certain items try jumping to grab them. When ready, go back to the tavern and speak with Norman to get 100 Cole for delivering the lunchboxes. Like Veola, Norman sells items and can synthesize new ones later on.

Now return to the grocery store and speak to Lyla so that she opens the back door of her shop. Inside you’ll find a mana chest containing Heal Jar and trigger two tutorials showing how mana items are used. Basically, mana spirits can only synthesize items that are aligned to their element and they will do a better job of it if you keep them happy by offering gifts. After completing the tutorials, Lyla tells you that Norman may know more about alchemy.

Go back to the bar to trigger a scene involving Delsus, an archer who likes to flirt with the ladies. During the scene, you’ll unlock a new path leading to the Tower of Airfen. View a map of the route then use the blue journal to save your game. Exit town and head south towards Lapis Woods.

LAPIS WOODS

Once there, collect any sparkling items you come across and extract some elements as you head south. You may encounter some random enemies in the woods so be prepared to fight. Continue traveling south until you reach the world map again. Follow the linear path to the Tower of Airfen.

TOWER OF AIRFEN

Collect a few items from the ground and the trees then step on the red teleport pad to get to the top of the tower. Watch a scene wherein you gain access to a new area, Henmil’s Gate. Afterwards, open the chest to acquire Herbal Drop, a mana skill that requires a Fire spirit to synthesize. Leave the tower and continue north until you reach Henmil’s Gate.

HENMIL’S GATE

Lita is there and convinces Klein to form the Gagazits, a squad of mercenaries. After she joins, Klein examines a glowing square next to the gate. Press X to enter a tent where you can heal, save, and talk to other party members. The campfire can be extracted there as well. When finished, leave the tent and head back to Lapis Woods.

LAPIS WOODS / KAVOC

Watch a scene involving two kids and a ghost named Pamela. When you regain control, stick around to fight some enemies and gain a level; otherwise, return to Kavoc.

Upon arriving in town, you’ll automatically enter the tavern. Norman offers the room above his bar to serve as your base of operations and will allow you to perform alchemy there if you bring him a Tingleberry from Veola’s magic shop. When ready, go fetch the item for Norman.

When you enter the upper part of town, a fellow alchemist named Rurona tells you about a place called the Flawless Marvel. After she leaves, enter the magic shop and talk to Veola to get 3 Tingleberries. Bring them back to Norman to trigger a tutorial on Shop Synthesizing. When it ends, Norman will give you several items to help you get started. After touring the base with Lita and watching a scene introducing Beggur, check out your new digs.

Afterwards, go down to the bar and try synthesizing some items. Norman will add new recipes if you synthesize frequently and by trying different combinations you can come up with a few new recipes on your own. Using better ingredients increases the quality of the item and brings more customers into his bar, so pay attention to which items you include in his menu. To create potions and other magical items, visit Veola who allows item synthesis now as well. [Refer to the Extras page for more information on item synthesizing.] When ready, leave Kavoc to trigger a scene.

In the Lapis Woods, you’ll learn about Growloons and spot one engaging a swordsman named Arlin. When he leaves, fight the creatures he left behind - a Mandragora and some Punis. Once they’re defeated, Klein extracts the Growloon while Arlin watches from a distance. When you regain control, return to Kavoc.

Enter the bar and report to Norman, who gives you 500 Cole for killing the Growloon and places a red book on the table that keeps track of the Growloons you’ve killed. Occasionally, you’ll find food items left on the other table. Jump up and grab them whenever they appear. Lita suggests giving your group a name. Choose one from the list provided (names vary). Return to your base to trigger a tutorial on Growloon hunting. When it ends, a thug arrives and tells you to go to the cathedral. Save your game then head over to the church in the upper part of town. Enter to meet Sir Beggur, the General of Alkavana.

When you regain control, you’ll be inside the sewers. After Delsus joins the party, press X to examine the barrel next to you. Most of the barrels in the sewers contain items so check them as you pass by. Go straight past the intersection, heading east, until you reach a set of crates. Extract them to clear the path and continue forward until you reach a chest. Open it to acquire a Blue Bracer. Equip it then go around the corner. You’ll see a mana chest up ahead but purple blocks prevent you from reaching it so backtrack to the intersection.

Follow the southwestern path to another barrel. Examine it to get an item then jump over the purple blocks further down. Continue around the corner to an electric pit. Grab some items scattered on the floor there then cross the wooden bridge opposite the pit. At the next intersection, head northwest. Extract one of the crates to create a staircase. Jump over to a chest containing Cole then return to the intersection. Head further south to a platform. Cross the stone bridge at the very bottom to reach a storage area and extract the sign so that you can pass through. Check the barrels for items then extract all of the crates to reveal a chest hidden in the back. It contains a Blue Mana. Backtrack to the platform and head southeast to exit the sewers.

You’ll emerge in the back room of the grocery store. Leave the shop to trigger a scene in which Delsus suggests going to Lake Forwel, thus unlocking a new route on the world map. The fire mana reappears and offers to join you. Now you can synthesize mana items that require his fire skill such as the Heal Jar you found earlier. Uru also adds a new command called Destruction Blast that allows you to blow up certain objects such as purple blocks. Watch a tutorial on the subject then heal/save and head back to the sewers.

Once there, move straight ahead, smashing the crates that have reappeared. Round the corner and use your new Blast skill to destroy the purple blocks guarding the chest up ahead. Open it to receive a Black Mana. You can’t reach the other chest right now so go back to the entrance and take the southern path down to the electric pit. Continue east along the upper walkway until you reach a wooden guardrail where you can jump down. Ride the log across. Destroy the purple block on the landing then ride the next log over to a chest containing some Cole. Ride back and exit the sewers.

After finishing up any additional business in town, leave Kavoc. After a scene showing Beggur plotting with his evil compatriot Mull, you’ll be out on the world map. Travel east to a crossroad then follow the southern route to an outdoor theatre.

OUTDOOR THEATRE

Use D-Blast on the purple blocks so that you can reach a pouch with 140 Cole. There’s another pouch tucked away in the left corner behind a colorful box. Grab a Dark Mana stone from it then leave the theatre. Continue heading south on the world map until you reach a field. Enter it.

FIELD

Extract the 3 Growloons here then grab some Cole from a green pouch near the stone marker. Collect any items strewn in the trees and on the ground then exit the field. Back on the world map, travel east until you reach Lake Forwel.

LAKE FORWEL

As soon as you arrive, Gemlis, the local fish merchant asks you to find some Stained Grass. Before leaving to search for it, explore the seaside village. Gemlis sells fish if you want to buy some; otherwise, open the mana chest next to him to acquire Sleepaid. You’ll find a Save Tent near the cow to the south. If you use it, you’ll see a dialogue scene with Lita inside. Afterwards, go up the stairs and enter the house on the right. Pick up a few items on the floor including two sacks containing Twisted Lando and a Feather Charm. Exit and go down to the dock. Smash some crates and blast the purple blocks on the left to reach the Red and Dark Mana stones. When ready, exit to the world map and go back to Lapis Woods.

LAPIS WOODS

When you arrive, you’ll see a scene involving a lady knight. Afterwards, climb the big tree and search the ground until you find some Broken Grass. Leave the woods and make your way back to Lake Forwel.

LAKE FORWEL

Give Gemlis the Broken Grass to receive 325 Cole then return to Kavoc.

KAVOC

First, check the Growloon Record book at the bar to increase your hunter ranking. Norman will reward you with 1600 Cole and a mana stone as well. Speak to him to learn that there’s a ghost in the sewers you should check out. Before going there, spend some time synthesizing items in both shops and stop by your base to heal and save. When ready, go to the upper part of town and watch a scene with Dia and Yach. When it ends, enter the sewers.

Inside, take the southern route then head east past the electric pit. Watch a scene involving Pamela then leave the sewers. Go back to your base to trigger a scene. It appears that little Yach has gone into the sewers by himself, so back you go to rescue him.

Return to the electric pit area in the sewers then cross the wooden bridge further south. You’ll find Yach near the waterfront being threatened by a witch-like creature. The group jumps in to help.

BOSS >> GHOST PUNI

Strategy: Eliminate the Puni underlings first using regular physical attacks, as they are annoying. Physical attacks do not work on spirit creatures so you’ll have to use magic to take out this ghost. If Lita has learned Force Blast, use it on the ghost and have Klein use Bomb Ices. The ghost should fall quickly.

After the battle, Dia gives you a Red Bracer. Equip it then head back to the bar in Kavoc. Speak with Norman to get 5 Milks. He’ll add a new recipe to his synthesis menu as well. When ready, enter your base to trigger a scene during which Lita leaves to take a nap. Explore the upper part of town with Delsus. Veola should have some new recipes that allow you to create armor. When you return to the lower part of town, you’ll trigger a scene involving a Cat Lady. Afterwards, return to base. Once Lita rejoins the party, go outside. You’ll overhear the townsfolk talking about a show that is taking place in the Outdoor Theatre. Travel there when you’re ready to advance the story.

OUTDOOR THEATRE

The Cat Lady sneaks in during the play and steals Klein’s alchemist book among other things. When you regain control, return to Kavoc.

KAVOC / LAPIS WOODS

After chasing the Cat Lady to the church area, Arlin arrives to tell you she’s escaped to the forest. Stop by base to save your game then enter Lapis Woods. Sir Beggur and his knights stop the Cat Lady and Klein steps in to challenge them.

BOSS >> SIR BEGGUR

Strategy: Use Delsus’ Power Shot, Lita’s Stone Blast, and Klein’s Bomb Ice to interrupt any skills Beggur and his cronies try to unleash. Their skills usually take two turns to complete but damage the entire party if left unchecked. Prepare to heal your party if they pull one off. If you run out of mana, use regular attacks on anyone left standing.

After being humiliated, Beggur’s knights drag him away and the Cat Lady escapes. Watch Popo’s Battle Training tutorial if you like; otherwise, return to Kavoc.

After a scene showing Beggur back at church, go to your base. Delsus tells the group where the Cat Lady can be found, thus unlocking a path to Poto’s Forest. When ready, leave Kavoc. On the world map, travel east then south back to Lake Forwel.

LAKE FORWEL

When you arrive, old Zazzy tells you you’ll need a Visa in order to reach your next destination. Delsus suggests taking a boat to the other side. Use the Save Tent to see a scene with Lita then go down to the dock and speak to the boat captain to depart. When you reach the other side of the river, leave the landing area and travel north until you reach the Collector’s Caravan.

COLLECTOR’S CARAVAN

The woman behind the counter gives you a Visa in exchange for setting up an items list for her. Additionally, Lector will pay you for each new item you bring to her. Watch a tutorial on the Collector System then show Lector all of the items you’ve collected thus far. If you’ve been grabbing items off the ground and synthesizing a lot, you should earn a hefty amount of Cole. Completing item sets also unlocks certain bonus features so it is wise to visit Lector frequently during the course of the game. When finished, exit to the world map and head back to the boat landing area. From there, head east until you reach the Proselyte Encampment.

PROSELYTE ENCAMPMENT

Once the coast is clear, the group shows Drei their Visa and is allowed to pass. Before leaving, open the mana chest next to Drei to obtain Flame. Have Uru create a few for you, making sure to give him a gift so that he remains happy. Use the Save Journal then exit the encampment. Back on the world map, follow the linear path until you reach Iris’ Resting Place.

IRIS’ RESTING PLACE

As soon as you enter, you’ll see a Growloon floating above. You can’t reach it yet, so just move forward. Extract any objects that block the path but be careful when extracting any lamps, as they will shock you if you get too close. Continue forward until you see a chest. Open it to obtain a Red Bracer. Head north from there, collecting items off the ground as you go. When you reach the iron door, enter it.

Inside, you’ll meet a little fairy that looks like Popo, who is overseeing a broken furnace. There’s a Save Tent on the right but before using it, grab items off the floor and check the bookshelves for some mana stones. When ready, leave the furnace room and go up the stairs on the right.

Move southwest along the path until the group notices 3 empty pedestals in an alcove to the left. When you regain control, continue heading southeast towards a floating Growloon. Use D-Blast to take it out then jump over the blocks up ahead. Extract the Growloon in front of the arrow tiles. Jumping onto arrow tiles such as these will cause you to slip back in the direction the arrow is pointing. Extract them instead to gain some valuable Power mana. When you reach the other side, head west until you see a blue statue up ahead. Examine it to unveil Plua, the mana of Darkness. When she joins the group, Plua adds a Gather Monsters command to your action dial. Watch a tutorial on the subject as well as one on how to find other mana statues. When you regain control, give Plua some gifts to raise her stats then move forward and extract the blue orb to get a large chunk of dark mana material.

Now go up the stairs on the left. At the landing, take the stairs on the right up to a set of purple and black blocks. Jump over and move forward to the next set. Blast one of the purple blocks so that you can jump onto the stone steps above. Continue up the stone steps until you reach a Growloon guarding a chest. Dispose of it and open the chest to acquire a Sorcerer Support accessory. Hop back down and backtrack to the landing.

Once there, head south to reach a mana chest containing Mana Jar. Create some if you like; otherwise, return to the landing. Take the left set of stairs past a ledge with a gold object you cannot reach yet. At the end of the path you’ll find a thin staircase leading up to a door that is currently blocked by an electrical field. Note this location, as you’ll be returning here later. For the moment, return to the lower area and jump down to the blue hologram gyrating on the floor. There’s a pouch inside an electric pit that you cannot reach yet, so continue north towards some spikes until you trigger a scene. After Mull steals Lita’s Ruby Prism, move forward to the exit.

POTO’S FOREST

You cannot reach the chest on top of the brick exit yet so head east, extracting and collecting new items as you go. The mushrooms offer Spirit mana so extract as many as you can while in this area. You’ll find a chest near the river’s edge that contains Cole. Cross the short log to reach the eastern side of the forest. Search behind the mushroom up ahead for a pouch containing a Glowing Mana. The sign next to it explains that you’re on the Animal Path. Not much else to do here at the moment so cross the river and return to the western part of the forest.

Head northwest from the brick exit, extracting any pumpkins or bushes that get in your way. Cross the bridge up ahead, making sure to collect some River Water while standing on it. When you reach the other side, head east around a sandy ledge. There’s a chest to the south you cannot reach yet, so continue forward until you find stack of wood with a chest on top. Extract the wood to reach it and obtain Cole. From there, head northwest to find another stack of wood. Extract all of it to reveal a chest containing more Cole. Now backtrack to the bridge below the sandy ledge. Once there, hop up onto the grass and travel northwest to another bridge. Cross the river again and extract some bushes to the south so that you can reach a chest that contains Cole. Backtrack and head east to the next screen.

You’ll find several barrels here, all containing String. Gather as many as you can and collect any other items you find in the immediate area. Before entering the house, head south from the big pumpkin to find a chest with Cole. Make sure to use the Save Tent under the house before continuing. When healed and ready, enter the witch’s house. Zeldalia will not hand over Klein’s book until he proves himself against Norn, the Cat Lady you’ve been chasing all this time.

BOSS >> NORN

Strategy: Do not underestimate Norn, as she is quite a powerful magician. Her Magical Staff reduces both HP & MP so prepare to use a lot of healing items. Try to kill her Puni underlings first to avoid the additional damage they incur. The Master Puni can heal its comrades so take it out as quickly as you can. Klein’s Ice Bomb and Flame skills are fairly effective on both Norn and the Master Puni so use as many as you can. Eventually, Norn will start casting Sleep, which usually takes her two turns to complete. At this point try any attack that will break her skill and take advantage of the time to heal your own party members.

After defeating her, Klein gets his book back and Zeldalia forces Norn to join your party. She tells the group that something is waiting for them back at Iris’ Resting Place. Before going there, speak to Zeldalia to receive a gift. Choose either a mana item (Ether Bulb) or a skill (Living Item). Afterwards, climb the ladder in her house and speak to the black cat upstairs. Though Nyaron’s inventory is limited, the cat sells some good items so buy what you can afford. After shopping, go through the door on the left to reach the ledge outside. Extract the gold orb to get some Light mana then continue to the edge to grab an Ancient Mask accessory. Use the Save Tent below before heading back to Iris’ Resting Place.

Travel east across the bridge to trigger a tutorial on changing party members, now that you have more than three. Afterwards, jump onto the grass mounds and cross the second bridge below. On the next screen, head south then veer east to reach the brick structure leading back to Iris’ Resting Place.

IRIS’ RESTING PLACE

Once inside, head east past the blue hologram on the floor. Jump up and follow the lower path south around the wall until you reach the blue arrow tiles. Extract them if you want more power mana; otherwise ride them across and continue along the path until you reach the alcove with 3 empty pedestals. Watch a scene during which your mana companions join forces to remove the electrical field that was blocking the door above.

When you regain control, go downstairs and use the Save Tent in the furnace room if you need to; otherwise follow the arrow block path back to the thin stairway in the northwest corner of the dungeon. Upon reaching the door above, Klein and Lita automatically zap inside the room. When the scene ends, re-enter the room to grab a few items off the floor then descend the stairs and return to Poto’s Forest.

POTO’S FOREST

Go back to Zeldalia’s house to watch Lita taking a mana-replenishing bath. One will be installed at home in Kavoc and Mana Protection now becomes available. Watch a couple of tutorials on each subject. Basically, Lita will suffer rapid mana loss when fighting for long durations. She’ll eventually become incapacitated unless she takes a restorative bath. Keep this in mind when using her in battles from now on. Mana Protection allows you to equip mana characters to party members in order to boost certain skills and/or resistances.

When the tutorials end, Arlin arrives and challenges Klein to a duel. There’s no way to win this fight so just take a swipe at him and watch the scene that follows. When it ends, Arlin joins the party. Spend some time re-equipping your growing party, making sure to attach manas to those who would benefit most from them. When ready, head back to Iris’ Resting Place. Along the way, you may encounter a friendly Ware Cat who offers to heal the party or give an item. Unless you are in desperate need of healing, I suggest choosing the rare food item. The Ware Cat will periodically appear during all subsequent visits to Poto’s Forest. As you approach the brick structure, the party will be transported to another world.

FAIRYLAND

You’ll arrive in an otherworldly place where a fairy named Paka teaches you how to forge mana stones. A forging iron will be installed back home in Kavoc so that you can start upgrading your party’s gear. Not all weapons and armor can have mana attached - in fact they are sadly rare. Watch a tutorial explaining the basic procedure. [For more information on weapon synthesis, refer to the Extras page.] Afterwards, speak to Pattet to see what he sells and collect any items you find on the floor before going upstairs.

On top, you’ll find more items to collect, including a Speedster accessory. Approach the colorful portal on the left. Note that fairy portals such as this one will appear in various parts of the world now, with new destinations being added once you discover them. For now, choose to return to Kavoc.

KAVOC

Watch a brief scene then go to your base where Delsus will leave to take care of some personal business. When you regain control, use Lita’s new mana bath and check out the forging iron. I highly recommend saving your game before using this device, as the result you get may be worse than intended. When ready, leave the base and go visit the bar.

After Delsus rejoins the party, a wood fairy named Pilke offers you a job: Bring him a Super Puni Ball from the Puni God. View directions to the new location. Take advantage of any new recipes Norman has before leaving the bar then go visit Veola. On the way there, you’ll bump into Rurona who has more information on the Flawless Marvel. After she leaves, enter the magic shop. If you purchased the book from the cat in Poto’s Forest, Veola may ask to read it. Each time you give her a new book she’ll increase her recipe list. It may take a couple of visits before she comes up with new ideas but the results are worth the wait.

When you’re finished in the magic shop, go down to the part of town where the little kids are running around. You may see a chef named Oscar standing next to the fish sign. Oscar creates two rare dishes and sells equally rare items. If he’s not there, don’t worry. Oscar pops up in various places around the world so you’re bound to bump into him at some point.

Finish up any remaining business in town then head out to the world map. Travel south through Lapis Woods and continue past the Tower of Airfen until you reach a path heading west. Follow it to the big blue Puni God.

PUNI GOD

After the Puni God grants you access, grab some Cole from the pouch next to the Save Journal. Use it then step inside what appears to be the belly of a giant Puni. After a brief dialogue scene, follow the path that looks like an intestine until you are stopped by the Puni Brothers. This comic trio is no match for your group. After an easy victory, you’ll receive some Frozen Rain.

Continue along the linear path until you reach a 3-way intersection. Follow the middle path down to a chest containing Dragon Fangs then return to the intersection. Take the other path down to pick up an Aqua Snowbug then follow the western path. Go around the bend and jump over the black block to get a Dark Mana then continue heading east.

At the next intersection, take the northern path up to a mana chest containing Love Gem. Return to the intersection and follow the western route to another black block. Jump across to reach a chest containing a forgeable Fairy Claw weapon for Lita. Equip it then continue heading west around a corner. Jump over two black blocks to grab a pouch containing Cole. Jump back and head east until you encounter the Super Puni and his cadre of underlings.

BOSS >> SUPER PUNI

Strategy: As with all boss fights in this game, take out the minor foes first. The gold Punis have more HP than the red ones and smash for more damage so be prepared to heal often if you’re having trouble taking them out quickly. When you’re able to concentrate on the Super Puni, use your strongest physical attacks as well as Ice Bombs and Flames. When its HP starts getting low, Super Puni will jump more often. Those who are at full health should choose to defend while the others heal themselves with items. Just keep whittling away its health until the boss retreats.

After the battle, you’ll receive the Super Puni Ball. Pass through the doorway on the left to return to the world map. If you’re curious what lies to the north, it’s a place called Ka Luda’s Playground, which will be covered later in this walkthrough. For those that want to test their strength, go ahead and visit it now. For everyone else, return to Kavoc.

KAVOC

Enter the bar. Give Pilke his ball in exchange for a Gust Sphere. Afterwards, speak to Norman who says he’ll add fish dishes to the menu if you bring him some Frozen Rain. The Puni Brothers should have dropped some earlier. If so, offer it to Norman and earn 500 Cole. Synthesize some new fish dishes if you like; otherwise go over to Veola’s Magic Shop.

Veola tells you that Hagel, the weapon shop owner, is looking for you. Go up to his shop. You’ll see Rurona testing out a stone mana object outside. After she leaves, talk to Hagel to learn that he has an errand in Arcose for you. View directions to Arcose if you like; otherwise return to base and prepare for the upcoming journey. Stock up on supplies then head out to the world map.

JOURNEY TO ARCOSE

Travel to Lake Forwel, stopping by the Outdoor Theatre and/or the Field to collect items if you want. While in Lake Forwel, speak to Gemlis the fish merchant. If you have Ale, he’ll ask for it and give you a fresh fish in return. Talk to the boat captain when you’re ready to depart. On the other side of the river, stop by the Collector’s Caravan to show Lector any new items so that you earn more Cole. Afterwards, travel to Iris’ Resting Place and pass through to reach Poto’s Forest.

If you want to visit Zeldalia and the cat merchant, head west. Otherwise, head east over the short bridge to reach the Animal Crossing. Once there, gather a few items and extract a few mushrooms while moving north towards the forest exit. Back on the world map, travel eastward until you reach a small mine near the edge of the cliff.

MINE

Enter the building up ahead to trigger a brief scene showing that Hagel, the shop owner, is out collecting ore at the moment. Leave the shop and take the dirt paths down to the bottom. Enter the storage shack on the right to grab a couple of sacks then exit the mine. Head south until you reach the town of Arcose.

ARCOSE

Upon your arrival, you’ll bump into Lector who appears to have a fetish for Norn’s ears. After she leaves, explore the town. An elderly couple live in the house next to the entrance but there’s not much to do inside, so go up the stairs and use the Save Tent in the center. Afterwards, check out the shops further up.

Enter the store on the left to trigger a scene. Villa asks you to help find her sister, Hute (the mine shop owner) who hasn’t returned from Alexia Cave. View directions if you wish; otherwise, check out Villa’s inventory. After shopping, go next door to the bakery where you’ll be introduced to Blaire. She sells items and synthesizes baked goods as well. Spend some time creating things there then enter the shop on the far right, next to the stairs. Inside you’ll meet Haan, a special items seller. Buy whatever you can afford, as his inventory tends to sell out quickly.

Leave Haan’s shop and go up the stairs on the left to trigger a scene showing that another Fairyworld portal has been placed in town. Before using it, grab the Dark Mana stone sitting next it then jump down and get the partially hidden pouch with Cole. You’ll see a few unreachable items on the wall above the fountain. If you choose to use the portal, you’ll find that Arcose and the Collector’s Caravan have been added to the list of destinations. Unless you’re desperate to do some synthesizing at home right now, save your game in the tent then exit Arcose. On the world map, travel northeast until you reach the Valiant Path.

VALIANT PATH

As soon as you enter the fiery cavern, you’ll notice some Growloons and two unreachable chests on the right. The lava will burn you if you step on it so be careful. Jump onto the wooden platform and extract the sign in order to reach the first two Growloons. Use D-Blast to take out the third one then jump back over the wooden platform and exit the cavern via the western path. Continue forward to Alexia Cave.

ALEXIA CAVE

When the group arrives, they see Villa’s sister trapped on a platform above. Move forward and jump to extract the floating Growloon. Pass under the stone bridge and extract the boulder in order to continue. Hop up the stone steps to a set of crates. The chest on top contains a Poison Blade weapon for Arlin. Ignore the Growloon above for the moment. Instead, head east along the lavender walkway until you reach a mana statue. Examine it to reveal Diemia, the mana of stone.

Once he joins the party you’ll be able to use Stepping Stone, which allows you to create a step in order to reach places that are too high to jump to. Diemia wears out quickly so make sure to give him plenty of gifts to keep him happy and healthy. View a tutorial on step creation then equip Diemia on one of your characters. Backtrack to the crate area and jump up to the next level. Once there, kill the Growloon then head east. Extract any boulders that block the path and move forward to the next screen.

Keep going until you reach a pool of lava. Jump over it at the narrowest point so that you don’t get burned. Continue along the path until a scene takes over. When it ends, go back up and use the Save Tent. After healing and saving, follow the rocky path to the right of the tent until you reach another lava pool. Jump across and open a chest near the stairs to obtain a Red Mana. Continue down to the next screen.

Move forward until you trigger a scene showing how the Stepping Stone needs to be used up ahead. When you regain control, grab Cole from the pouch then stand in front of the sheer wall and create a step. Use it to get onto the path above. Extract some Air and Light elements from the crystal formations that line the path then capture the Growloon further ahead. Move forward to trigger a scene with Hute. When it ends, backtrack all the way to the cave entrance. Once there, Hute gives you 2 Comet Stones and the Ore that Hagel wanted. Exit the caves and return to Arcose.

ARCOSE

Go up to the big anchor and use your new stone step to get one of the mana stones on top of the wall. The other is still too high to reach. When finished in town, go back to Kavoc – either using the Fairy portal or by traveling on foot. If you decide to go on foot, take advantage of the Stepping Stone to get any items that were too high to reach. For example, you can open the mana chest on top of the pumpkin outside Zeldalia’s house in Poto’s Forest. It contains Unholy Water. You’ll find another Fairy portal next to the cat vendor upstairs.

KAVOC

First, check your Growloon Record at the bar to earn some Cole. If your rank goes up, you’ll also get a mana stone (the colors vary). Afterwards, talk to Norman to acquire the Monster Manual (speak to Lita while at base or in tents to view a list of the monsters you’ve encountered so far). You’ll also learn that there’s been another ghost sighting in the sewers. Before checking it out, go outside and place a stone step next to the two crates in the southwest corner of town. Climb up to the roof and jump across to the adjacent structure. Use the short ladder to get to a chest containing a Superior Edge Cast weapon for Delsus. Equip it then head towards the magic shop.

Visit Veola and you’ll see that she has a Fairy portal in her shop now. Finish up any business you have with her then approach the Well Water box outside. Create a stone step to reach the Dark Mana on the roof then jump down and enter the sewers.

Once inside, move forward and extract the crates to pass through. Go around the corner and approach the black blocks near the electric pit. Place a stone step on one of the blocks in order to climb over. The mana chest on the other side contains Obake Bag. Snatch any other items that are strewn there then climb back over and exit the sewers.

Back in town, go up to the weapon shop and give Hagel his Ore. He’ll give you a Star Piece for completing the errand. Use the stone step outside to reach a chest on the opposite roof. Afterwards, enter your base to trigger a scene. When it ends, heal, bathe, forge and save then go to the magic shop area to trigger a scene between Sir Beggur and a female knight named Marietta.

When you’re ready to advance the story, return to base. Norn will wander off while Delsus cooks a meal. When you regain control, save your game then head back to the upper part of town. You’ll bump into Rurona, who mentions a Dragon Gem. After she leaves, go into the sewers to rescue Norn. Travel south at the intersection. When you reach the electric pit, head east until Beggur stops you. After Arlin retrieves Norn, move forward until you reach a black block. Jump over it and go downstairs. Ride the log to the other side and continue forward. You’ll end up in the church surrounded by Beggur and his cronies.

BOSS >> SIR BEGGUR

Strategy: Beggur comes with three soldiers a protective Pig this time. Take out the Pig first, as it prevents you from reaching the others successfully. Next, kill the soldier that heals the others and then focus on anything living besides Beggur. The beginning of this fight will be rough. Each soldier can hurt at least two of your characters with one skill, and Beggur can still hurt all three at the same time. Individually their attacks are fairly weak but the damage will add up quickly so prepare to heal frequently. Use Klein’s Wide Item skill along with Heal Jar so that all 3 party members benefit. Similarly, use Wide Item combined with Ice Bomb or Flame to damage all enemies at once. Have your remaining party members use whichever skills have the best chance of breaking Beggur’s big attacks or cause debilitating status effects that will buy you some time. Telekinesis, Dark Arrow, and Double seem to work well. Lita’s Power Kick and speedy claw attacks will come in handy, also.

After the fight, Pilke offers to help you sneak into Fort Galga. Before going there, speak to Finn in the bar, who should mention a mana statue in Collector’s Caravan. Heal, save, shop, etc. then exit Kavoc. If you want to go directly to Fort Galga, head east past Lake Forwel, then continue north until you reach the fort. If you want to get another mana first, enter Lake Forwel.

LAKE FORWEL / COLLECTOR’S CARAVAN

Upon entering Lake Forwel, old Zazzy tells you he hasn’t received a letter from his grandson yet. After promising to help, take the boat across and visit the Collector’s Caravan.

Watch a scene showing Lector’s perpetual fascination with Norn’s ears then examine the mana statue next to her. After Nymph, the mana of Water joins the party you’ll receive the Barrier skill. Watch a tutorial explaining how Barrier shields you from the damaging effects of lava, electricity, etc. then speak to Lector to receive a pocket-sized item list, which you can view by speaking to Norn while in a tent or at Kavoc’s base. Exit the Collector’s Caravan. Ride the boat back to Lake Forwel and head north to the fort.

FORT GALGA

Pilke and a couple of chickens create a diversion so that you can climb up to the cannons above. When you take control, use the Save Tent then climb the ladder next to it. Defeat the first round of enemies on top then ascend the stairs on the left. There are some arrow tiles here to extract if you want the mana; otherwise, move forward to engage the second set of thieves and rogues. After defeating them, go upstairs and jump on the black block. Extract an arrow tile to get past the crates then take on the third set of enemies. Afterwards, open the mana chest to acquire Aeroangel. Now, go back down to the Save Tent. Use it then head east to a second ladder.

Climb up and take out the next group of enemies. If you approach the items sitting on the wall up ahead, more enemies may attack. After defeating them, go up the stairs on the right and extract more arrow tiles. Move forward and kill the next group of thugs. Continue up the stairs to find enemies standing near some bombs. After vanquishing them, Pilke’s troops will crush the lower gate to reveal a central ladder.

When you regain control, either destroy the bombs using D-Blast or carefully extract fire from them. Afterwards open the two chests to receive a Hulking Smasher weapon for Klein and a book called ‘Me Myself & Bomb’. Return to the Save Tent and climb up the middle ladder. You’ll see four more ladders on top. Climb up each to destroy the enemies above. After doing so, Klein smashes a reinforced wall, exposing the final ladder. When healed and ready, ascend to face Brigand.

BOSS >> BRIGAND

Strategy: Take out Brigand’s wolves as quickly as you can. Their speedy onslaught leaves little time to mount an offensive otherwise. A few regular attacks should do the trick. The two Gunners spray fire for a fair amount of damage, so focus on them next. Arlin’s Double attack works pretty well on them. Once the wolves are gone, Brigand will summon a few Falcon Hawks. Use Klein’s Wide Item along with Flame to take out the birds and Heal Jar to aid the party when needed. Norn’s Telekinesis is effective against Brigand as are Arlin’s special sword attacks.

Once Brigand is defeated, you’ll be shown the exit to the Cleft of Nelvia. Before climbing down, grab some Cole from the two sacks on the left. Use the Save Tent below then head east to exit the fort. Back on the world map, continue east until you reach a crossroad. Follow the northern route to a sign that reads ‘North to Nelvia,’ meaning follow the eastern path until it turns north. En route to Nelvia you’ll come across an empty tavern near the edge of the ocean. Enter it.

EMPTY TAVERN

Inside, you’ll find two Growloons, a Save Journal, a Fairy portal, and two sacks with Cole or items. There may be some random creatures inside as well. Note that you can extract the Save Journal after using it. Take advantage of the portal if you want to return to Kavoc or Arcose for a while. Otherwise, leave the tavern and continue traveling north until you reach a wide, open space. Search the western edge until you stumble across the Cleft of Nelvia.

CLEFT OF NELVIA

Watch a brief scene then head east down the thin path. Jump up to extract a floating Growloon then move forward until you arrive at some steps. Go down and blast the purple blocks to get the pouch on top. It contains a Red Mana. Move along the log pathway and down a couple of ramps until you can get at another Growloon. Head down the next ramp then travel east until you reach a gap in the path. Jump over to a new mana statue. Examine it to reveal Silwest, the mana of wind. As usual, welcome the mana with gifts and equip her to a party member if desired.

Go back up the ramps then travel east until you get to a cabin. Enter and collect items off the floor. If you need fire, extract it from the bomb on the table. Exit through the back door and continue forward to a ladder. Climb down and enter the shack on the right. Use the Save Tent inside and grab any items off the floor.

Back outside, head west until you find another ladder. Descend then head east. Jump down and extract the support column to free up the path. Move forward to a chest that contains a Lightning Orb accessory. Now hop down to the ground and head west. Go up the first ramp you see, moving toward a rock ledge on the far left. Jump up and get a Red Mana from the pouch near the edge. Jump down and grab some Red Peppers from the bushes then take the southern path over to the Spring.

A scene takes over when you enter the new area. When the Spirit of the Spring asks if you lost a jewel or a stone, pick either answer to receive the Mirror of Twilight, one of the key items necessary for opening Henmil’s Gate. When you regain control, you can summon her once more; however doing so requires you to offer at least one item from your inventory. The gift she gives in return may not be worth what you lost so choose wisely.

Explore the area for some new items including Pure Water from the spring itself. Make sure to extract Life mana from the pink bushes in the southwestern corner, as this element is very rare. On the hill next to them, you’ll find a pouch containing a Buffer Ring. Jump onto the grassy hill near the Spring entrance to get a Gilded Sword for Arlin then leave the spring and hike back up to exit Nelvia. Back on the world map, you’ll see a scene with Beggur. When it ends, head south and enter the first cliff you come across.

CLIFFS

There are two Growloons to extract here, one on the left and another on the right. Take them out before jumping down to the exit. Back on the world map, continue south until you reach a crossroad. The eastern route takes you back up to the Empty Tavern where you can quickly warp to Kavoc. Continuing south takes you to a second cliff where you can collect more items and a pouch with Cole.

If you’ve taken the southern route, you’ll pop out near Poto’s Forest. Again, feel free to use the portal in Zeldalia’s house or continue on foot through Iris’ Resting Place to get back to Kavoc.

KAVOC

If you triggered Zazzy’s sidequest in Lake Forwel, you’ll hear the locals talking about pirates that escaped into Poto’s Forest after robbing a ship. Afterwards, check your Growloons Record at the bar to earn some Cole. Next, enter the sewers and go down to the electric pit. Blast the purple blocks there then use your new Barrier skill to walk across the electricity safely. On the other side, blast a few more blocks and open the chest to get a Glowing Mana. You’ll see Pamela on the other side of the wall. If you want to talk to the ghost, take the other route around to her area; otherwise, leave the sewers.

If you’ve acquired a large amount of Cole (around 30,000), you’ll find a fairy merchant named Pattote sitting on top of the roof opposite the weapon shop. If so, use your stone step to reach him. Pattote sells rare items and weapons but only appears when you have lots of cash on hand. Like Chef Oscar, he travels the world so if you do not see him here now, you’re bound to bump into him elsewhere during your travels. If you become a regular customer, Pattote will occasionally offer you ‘black market’ items but you’ll have to pay before learning what you’ll get.

Give Veola the book you found in Fort Galga and conduct any other business you have in the shops then enter your base to trigger a scene, during which Zeldalia tells you to protect Norn. In the morning, check Norn’s bed to find a chest containing Red Pants. After saving, healing, etc. leave base. Outside, you’ll overhear the locals talking about a Growloon infestation in Poto’s Forest. When ready, leave Kavoc.

JOURNEY TO POTO’S FOREST

Stop by the Outdoor Theatre on your way down to Lake Forwel. Use D-Blast to navigate past the blockade and reach a pouch on stage containing Cole. If you brought some Ale, talk to the fish merchant in Lake Forwel to receive another fresh fish. Take the boat across and enter Iris’ Resting Place.

Once there, create a stone step next to the furnace room door to reach the ledge above. Move forward and extract the Growloon guarding two chests. The mana chest contains Cure Jar and the other contains a Sylvan Ring. Grab a few Metallic Gears on the ground then hop down and head east to the arrow tiles. On the other side head northwest to a set of shelves protruding from the wall. Create a couple of stone steps to reach the Gold Handle above. Jump back down and approach the blue hologram. Use Barrier to safely reach the pouch inside the electrical pit. After getting a Yellow Mana from it, exit to Poto’s Forest.

POTO’S FOREST

You’ll see a number of Growloons in the area when you emerge from Iris’ Resting Place. Extract the two in the immediate area then head southeast to find a third one near the Animal Crossing bridge. After taking it out, backtrack to the Iris exit and head northwest. Cross the bridge and go around the sandy ledge. You’ll find three more Growloons hovering above stacks of wood. Create a stone step to reach the first one. For the other two, strategically extract pieces of wood to form a staircase so that you can reach them. Once you rid the area of the Growloons, Lita will mention it and you’ll be taken to Zeldalia’s house automatically.

When you regain control, go outside and use the tent to heal and save. When ready, head south to the area where you first fought Norn. You’ll encounter a new foe here, the Jin Rider.

BOSS >> JIN RIDER

Strategy: The Jin Rider will appear by himself if you destroyed all of the Growloons in the forest. Physical attacks will not hurt him so use Delsus’ Dark Shot, Arlin’s Mana Strike, and Lita’s Force Blast. Klein’s offensive mana items are not very effective so have him attack with his cane or heal others. Do the same with Norn. The Jin Rider uses a knock-back attack that hits each of your characters for 20+ damage. Just whittle him down with spells until he perishes.

After the battle, you’ll receive the Mirror of Dawn, an item needed to unlock Henmil’s Gate. Open the mana chest to obtain Newlife then head back to Zeldalia’s house. Travel on foot or take the Fairy portal back to Kavoc.

KAVOC

As usual, check your Growloon Record to get some Cole. Talk to Norman again to receive additional Cole. Stock up on supplies and save at base then exit Kavoc. Head south through Lapis Woods. While there, Rurona tells the group she’s found the Flawless Marvel. Pass through and continue north to Henmil’s Gate.

HENMIL’S GATE

A mysterious woman appears in hologram form to tell Klein he is not yet ready to open the gate; the heart of mana must be earned first. When the scene ends, you’ll notice a Fairy portal has been placed on the bushes to the right. Use it to get back to Kavoc.

KAVOC

When the group arrives, you’ll see Beggur’s knights threatening Marietta and step in to help.

BOSS >> TEMPLE KNIGHTS

Strategy: The knights are numerous but not very difficult to defeat. Some have the ability to heal themselves so take them out first. Physical attacks work fine on all of them, as do mana spells that damage the entire group.

Once defeated, Mull arrives to taunt the team. Afterwards, go to your base to trigger a conversation about visiting Arcose. When you’re ready to depart, use the Fairy portal in Veola’s Shop to get to Arcose.

ARCOSE / MINE

When you arrive, you’ll bump into Pamela. After speaking with her, go up and talk to Villa in her store. She suggests visiting Hute in the mine to learn more about the key. When you’re finished in town, take the northwest path up to the mine. Visit Hute in her shop to get the Dragon Hall Key. Collect any items you need in the mine area then exit and return to Arcose. Once there, take the eastern route to the Valiant Path.

VALIANT PATH

Inside, use Barrier to cross the lava pits safely. Jump onto the wooden platform, extract the sign, and continue forward to a chest containing an Ancient Mask. Go across the lava and extract the Growloon further north. Now cross the lava to the west to get a Red Mana. Backtrack and head south to reach the mana chest containing Mark of Courage. Exit the cavern and continue along the path until you reach Alexia Cave.

ALEXIA CAVE

In case you forgot how to get to the locked door, pass under the bridge and jump up the crates. Head east along the path until you reach the Save Tent. Use it before approaching the door below. Once there, a scene takes over. Enter the new passageway to continue the scene and fight a powerful dragon.

BOSS >> ELDER VILUM

Strategy: If your characters are not sufficiently leveled, it’s possible that this boss will wipe out the party. The Elder Vilum has two nasty attacks: Flickering Flame, which hits a character 4-5 times in rapid succession and Tera Fire, which hits your entire party for massive damage. When the boss inhales, use any method to achieve a skill break; otherwise, heal affected members immediately. When Klein is not busy healing, use Power Item in conjunction with Flame to cause major damage. If Arlin has the Dragon Slayer equipped, he’ll be doing respectable damage with the sword alone. If not, stick to Double. Have remaining party members use their strongest attacks, either physical or magical, until the dragon starts to defend itself. This tells you he is close to dying. Hit hard and fast, healing when needed, until he falls.

After the battle, Delsus reveals information that unlocks a path to Duran. View directions if you like then go up the steps on the right to grab a couple of items and extract some ice crystals. Exit Alexia Cave and return to Kavoc via the Fairy portal in Arcose. Complete any business you have in town then go through Lapis Woods, past the Puni God, to reach Ka Luda’s Playground.

KA LUDA’S PLAYGROUND

Climb the first set of steps and veer east to find a pouch containing a Blue Mana. Afterwards, head west up the long staircase. When you reach the top, keep moving forward through the columns near the chessboard. Ignore the first gap in the chess pieces. At the corner, enter the gap between the chess pieces on the top of the board. Navigate through them until you emerge on the bottom ledge.

Head west to find a chest containing an Angel Feather accessory then follow the eastern route around the corner. When you see a gap, enter the chess maze again. Head up and out, then round the corner and follow the upper ledge to a pouch containing Cole. Backtrack to the stairs and descend. Ignore the ladder and continue forward to the mana chest tucked inside an alcove. It contains Mark of Weakness. Return to the ladder and descend to leave the playground. On the world map, move forward and enter the Snowfield.

SNOWFIELD

You’ll find another mana chest here containing Lightning Rod as well as a pouch holding a Sylph’s Kiss. Use the Save Tent then exit to the world map. Travel straight through the snowy terrain until you reach the town of Duran.

DURAN

Delsus is certainly more familiar with this town that he has led the group to believe. When you regain control, pick up any items next to the Save Tent on the left and get Cole from the pouch near the snowman. Jump onto the icy platform on the left and cross the bridge. Get Cole from a pouch near the roof. You’ll find a white cat inside the house there but not much more, so slide down the ice on the right.

Enter the shop on the left. Speak to Grandma Jajima to trigger a scene then check out her wares. After shopping, enter the door on the left to meet the Village Chief. He will help you if Delsus passes a test in Ka Luda’s Playground. Grab a Groovecube and a Tiny Gear from the two green sacks in the room then go outside. In the upper part of town, you may find the traveling fairy vendor, Pattote, selling his wares at a bench on the right. If not, you’ll need to acquire more Cole so that he shows up. Either way, collect a few plants from the ice patch up ahead then enter the building on the right. Extract fire from the torches inside or use the Fairy portal if you want to revisit other areas of the world; otherwise, exit Duran and head back to the playground.

KA LUDA’S PLAYGROUND

Climb up the ladder and go to the chessboard, which you’ll notice has changed. Examine the upper part of the board until a scene takes over, suggesting that Uru’s power will be needed here. To pass the test, you’ll need to move the 4 white chess pieces onto the 4 glowing squares using Destruction Blast. Each blast causes a white piece to move 2 squares unless a black tile or purple piece blocks it. The pieces can be moved in any direction (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) so just make sure you are properly oriented when blasting them. Each time you succefully place a white piece, you’ll see one of the large chess pieces on the pedestal rise. After all four pieces are positioned correctly you’ll receive the Flame Sphere. Take it back to Duran.

DURAN

Return to the Village Chief’s room to trigger a scene. In the morning, visit him again to learn that you’ll need 4 manas - Uru, Diemia, Nymph, and Silwest - in order to enter the Land of Mana. To get there, you’ll be going through the Forest of Ocean Mist, which is now available for travel. If for some reason you do not have the 4 manas mentioned above, get them now. Note that traveling east from Duran takes you to the Spring in Nelvia. If you visit it right now, you will find Pamela at the northern cleft entrance still searching for her body… When you’re ready to advance the story, exit Duran and head south to the Forest of Ocean Mist.

FOREST OF OCEAN MIST

After watching a scene, grab all of the mana stones in the area. Some will require using the Stepping Stone. The one on top of the fountain cannot be reached at the moment. When you’re finished collecting the loot, step inside the portal. You’ll arrive in what appears to be a floating jungle.

Cross the bridge and get a Prismoon from the green pouch. Extract a crystal formation on the opposite side then jump across some stone blocks, heading northeast. Climb down a short ladder and continue along the upper stone path, extracting crystals as needed to pass through. Jump down onto the darker stone and press X to glide across.

Use the portal on the platform to warp to a bridge leading into a tree. Go inside to get a Silver Mana then transport back. Jump onto another stone tile and press X to glide to the next area. Climb up the ladder and cross the rope bridge. Extract the pillar so that you can pass. Move forward until you reach a portal inside a tree. Enter and watch a scene that occurs at the shell shrine. When you regain control, use the Save Tent on the right then extract the stone pillars on the left to reach the world map. Follow the winding path to the Garden of Eternity.

GARDEN OF ETERNITY

After watching a scene, use the Stepping Stone on the grassy ledge right next to you. Climb up and use it again on the second ledge. Jump up and extract two Growloons on the left. Keep moving to the left until you find a chest containing a Blue Mana. Now backtrack and head north along the grass to a chest holding a Soul Ring. Return to the previous area and hop back down to the entrance.

Once there, move forward until you see another ledge. Create a step and take out the Growloon above. Grab ample Cole from a pouch then jump down and continue heading west to the next screen. Move forward to the stack of rocks. Extract all of them to reach the pouch full of Cole on top. You’ll find two more rock stacks up ahead. Extract them to get two more sacks, each containing a mana stone. Now move forward, hugging the western edge, until you can run behind the bushes to the top area.

Keep going until you reach an opening in the tree. Before entering it, head south to find another stack of rocks with a pouch on top. Get Cole from it then travel east to reach a mana chest, containing Meteor. Now backtrack to the tree opening. Pass through and extract the Growloons below the staircase. You’ll find two more Growloons further down. Use D-Blast to kill the floating one then head east to the next screen.

Keep moving forward, past the ledge on the right, until you get to a chest containing a Blue Mana. Backtrack to the ledge and create a step so that you can get to the top. Pattote will be standing next to his sign if you have enough Cole on you. If so, purchase what you need then exit to the world map. Travel north to a crossroad then head east until you reach the Land of Mana.

LAND OF MANA

Watch a scene wherein the four Mana Chiefs tell you to find the Primal Gem then unlock the Gates of Change for you. When you take control, talk to the Chief of Water to receive a mana item called Elixer. Extract the pink bushes below to get some Life mana then open the chest to acquire a Wisdom Cane weapon. Speak to the little fire mana sitting nearby. You’ll learn that Pendelooks are the only currency accepted here. If you have some, check out Valco’s unique inventory, including a book that you’ll want to buy for Veola. After shopping, use the Save Tent in the upper corner then exit to the world map. Follow the northern route to a structure that will return you to the human world.

GATES OF CHANGE

Step on the portal to warp to another one. Using the second portal deposits you inside the Tower of Airfen. Head back home. When traveling through Lapis Woods, you’ll overhear Pamela talking to Dia and Yach about a hidden treasure. After Delsus receives their Treasure Map, enter Kavoc.

KAVOC

If you bought the ‘Strange Dictionary’ book in the Land of Mana, give it to Veola so that she can prepare new recipes. You may want to use the Fairy portal in her shop to take a quick trip to the Collector’s Caravan to show Lector all of your new items. You’ll also see that Land of Mana has been added to the Fairy portal’s list of destinations. Spend some time with Veola synthesizing Pendelooks if you intend to travel there.

Stop by the bar to learn that the kids’ treasure is in the Nelvia region. Afterwards, check your Growloon Record to earn some Cole and mana stones. When ready, go up to your base. Arlin asks you to follow him. You’ll end up in Lapis Woods where Arlin suddenly charges at you.

BOSS >> ARLIN

Strategy: Since this is a mandatory duel, I’m including Arlin as a boss. In reality, one Power Item combined with Meteor (or whichever element Arlin has the least resistance to) should wipe him out. If he happens to attack first, you should be able to sustain the hit. Just counter with your strongest attacks.

The scene continues back at base with the group deciding to head to Arcose next. Stock up on plenty of healing items before going there.

ARCOSE

Speak to Rurona who is standing just above the entrance. When the scene ends, you’ll gain access to the Flawless Marvel. View directions if you like; otherwise, complete your business in town and warp to Duran.

DURAN

The Flawless Marvel is west of Duran but you’ll want to fetch Yach & Dia’s treasure first. To do so, head east. Go through Nelvia and down to the Empty Tavern. Watch the scene that takes place inside. When it ends, you’ll acquire 3 mana stones and a Pikohammer. Use the portal to get back to Duran or travel there on foot. Once there, head west through the Snowfield. Before going to your next destination, you may want to stop by Ka Luda’s Playground to acquire Norn’s final skill. If not, continue north to the Flawless Marvel.

KA LUDA’S PLAYGROUND (OPTIONAL)

Climb up the ladder and go over to the chessboard. Use D-Blast to move 4 purple chess pieces into the four corners of the board. Use the white pieces and black tiles to block the purple ones, which move 3 squares per blast. Once the purple chess pieces are in the 4 corners, win the battle that ensues. Afterwards, place the 5th purple piece on the center symbol to trigger a scene and receive Norn’s final skill, Illusion.

FLAWLESS MARVEL

Upon entering, you’ll get a view of the maze-like structure you’re about to navigate in order to find the Primal Gem. The enemies here are strong and plentiful so you may have a tough time if your characters are under-leveled or lack healing items. If so, return later to tackle this area. If you feel up to it, start by moving forward and following the eastern path.

Ascend the stairs on the right and extract the Growloon on top. Move forward to a pouch containing Cole. Take out another Growloon then go up to the transport. Use it to warp to a floating staircase. You’ll see a Growloon there. After extracting it, go up and take out another Growloon. Ignore the transport on top. Instead, descend the steps and use the transport at the bottom.

In the new area, move forward to another transport. Take it then use a transport at the bottom of the stairs. When you reach the next area, follow the easternmost path until you get to another transport. Use it to warp to the next area. Once there, head right to find a chest with a Crystal Claw weapon for Lita as well as a pouch containing a Groovecube. Backtrack to the transport and use it to return to the previous area.

Move forward past the next transport until you reach one at the bottom of the stairs. Take this one to the next area. Use the transport at the bottom to warp to a ledge. Move forward, past the brown blocks, until you get to a chest. Open it to acquire the ‘Master of Magic’, a book for Veola. Backtrack to the first brown block and use it to jump to the ledge above.

Hop over the brown block on the right and grab some Cole from a green pouch at the end of the path. Now travel in the opposite direction, jumping over the block on the far left end of this ledge. Create a stone step to reach the transport above. Use it to warp to a floating bridge. Extract the orange orb up ahead to free the path. At the end, you’ll find a blue mana statue. Examine it to reveal Aion, the mana of Life. Once she joins the party, you’ll acquire the Life ability. Watch a tutorial on its usage then welcome her with gifts, etc. Take the portal back to the previous area and return to the brown blocks.

Use them to jump up to the next level where you will find a Save Tent. It goes without saying that you should use it to heal and save before continuing. Afterwards, ascend the staircase on the left. Hop up the floating steps to get to a mana chest containing Heal Bulb. If you’ve collected enough life and light mana, make a few of them now. Heal Bulbs can restore the entire party, which will prove useful in a moment. Go back to the Save Tent and ascend the staircase on the right. Jump onto the platform and approach the huge crystal in the center to trigger a scene, during which Prism is unleashed.

BOSS >> PRISM

Strategy: This boss is fast and tough. He uses a two-turn attack that can eat up nearly 3/4’s of your HP and a one-turn attack that causes the same amount of damage while knocking you back. His skills are hard to break so be prepared to use the Heal Bulbs you just created. When you run out of those, use the Wide Item/Heal Jar combo. Start by having Klein use Wide Item/Mark of Courage to increase the party’s offense then fight with anyone who can match Prism’s speed. Try to paralyze him to buy some time. If Arlin has learned Berserker or Bull’s Eye, use them. Bull’s Eye is a two-turn attack, but should hit for about 900 damage each time. Lita’s Force Blast and Norn’s Staff are also effective if well leveled. When near death, Prism will start to heal himself for 700+ HP. If Klein dies, have the others use Tinglecannons to restore health and mana, and just hack away at him until he falls.

After a tough battle, you’ll get the Primal Gem. Backtrack to the Save Tent and use it before leaving the maze. When you reach the world map, go back to Duran and use the Fairy portal to get to the Land of Mana.

LAND OF MANA

Upon your arrival, the mana chiefs give you the Ring of Iris and unlock the route to Avenberry. Finish up any business you have there then go up to the Gates of Change and warp back to the Tower of Airfen. Once there, you’ll see a brief scene with Delsus. Before going to Henmil’s Gate, stop by Kavoc to drop off the new book and restock supplies. Complete any outstanding business you have in the world then head up to Henmil’s Gate.

HENMIL’S GATE

After Klein opens the gate, you’ll see a scene showing the route to Avenberry. Save at camp if you wish or just pass through the gate. Head north along the winding trail until you reach the Path of the Heavens.

PATH OF THE HEAVENS

Travel northeast until you reach some rocks with spikes on top. Extract them then continue forward until you spot a chest on a ledge. Jump up to get the Yellow Mana inside. Hop back down and continue moving west to a pouch containing Cole. Jump up to where the little cluster of trees is and head southwest to find another pouch with Cole. Now head north up the steppes until you reach a stack of rocks.

Extract them to reveal a chest at the top, which contains a Red Mana. Travel east along this ledge, past some black blocks, then veering northeast until a scene takes over. Arlin helps a little creature that automatically takes you to its village.

HIDDEN VILLAGE

After Trolin welcomes the group, you’re free to explore. Extract the purple-green flowers near the entrance for some spirit mana, then move west to find another little creature named Totopop. He gives you the Transformation ability, which turns you into a ‘mystical beast’ that looks rather like a bunny. In this state, you can move through tight spaces and drop down from higher places without hurting yourself. Watch a tutorial to learn more about it. Totopop also tells you his store only accepts Karikari Nuts as currency, so you’ll want to collect those from now on. Check out his inventory as well as his synthesis menu. Afterwards, test out your new Transform ability.

While in ‘bunny state’, cross the thin bridge to the south. Grab some Tingleberries and open a chest on the other side to acquire a Mana Booster. Go back across and head northwest. Move through the gap in the stone column to grab a Gold Metal Rod then hop up the central steps. Enter the first rabbit hole to meet Rory then hop up some more steps to find Totopop’s empty store (he’ll be there during future visits). Exit and hop over to the ledge on the right to grab a pouch containing a Black Mana. Drop onto the patch of grass below to collect some Sweet Glowgrass then drop down to the ground.

Now hop back up the stairs and enter the hole at the very top. Inside you’ll meet a pink bear named Mofuma who both sells and synthesizes items. When you’re finished with Mofuma, go out and use the Save Tent on the ledge below. Leave the village when you’re ready. Back on the world map, you have the option of traveling north or south. North leads to the mountain path where you first met Trolin. South takes you to the sewers of Kavoc. Let’s go there now.

SEWER EXIT

Grab any items off the ground then descend into the well. You’ll find yourself in a part of the Kavoc sewer that was off limits before. Get any items sitting on the crates or inside the barrels then transform to pass through the metal bars. Return to Kavoc if you like or climb back up the ladder and continue with the main quest. When ready to move on, travel north past Hidden Village until you reach the mountains.

MOUNTAIN ENTRANCE / PATH OF THE HEAVEN

A bunny named Lori stands next to the ramp that leads back to the Path of the Heaven. Grab any items you see on the ground before heading up. Back on the mountaintop, head south down the steppes to a chest at the very end of the path. It contains a Blue Mana. To reach the lower chest on the left, transform and drop down. After getting a Dark Mana from it, drop down again. Head northwest past the stack of boulders until you reach the ledge with black blocks you passed earlier.

Once there, return to human form and place a Stepping Stone on one of the black squares so that you can reach the level above. Create another stone step next to the thin ledge on the right. Jump up and transform to access the pouch that contains a Yellow Mana. Stay in bunny form and drop onto the black tiles. Remain on this ledge, moving west until you get to an area with stone spikes below. Drop down on top of the brown pouch to obtain a Red Mana stone. Become a human again if you want extract the spikes, otherwise stay in bunny form and hop down to the area with the tall stack of stones.

Go back to the black blocks. Create a step to get up then head west. You’ll see a chest in the northwest corner that cannot be opened yet, so just follow the uppermost path until you reach a ledge. Create a step and jump up. Transform so that you can move along the edge, heading east now. Hop up to the row of trees and head north to the next area.

PATH OF HVNS

Though this is technically the same area, the terrain is completely different. Watch a scene where Lita confesses she doesn’t remember much of her past then move forward to a teleport. Step on it to get to the walkway above. Once there, move forward to the intersection. You may see Pattote here selling his stuff. Either way, take the path on the right over to a chest that contains a Tiny Gear. Backtrack and go down the middle path to find a Star Piece. Head northwest now, turning left at the first opportunity. Grab some Gold Metal then head further north where you will find a gold tile. Before stepping on it, head right for a chest containing a Damn Ring. Return to the gold tile and press X to ascend.

On top, move onto the large platform and look in the northeast corner for a Gold Metal. Return to the platform and head east along the lower path. At the first intersection, go down to get a Mini Pendelook. Return to the intersection and travel southeast past the gold tile. Grab Cole from a red pouch then return to the gold tile and ascend. On the next level, you’ll find a Save Journal. Use it then head right and ride the next gold tile down.

At the bottom, use the tile on the opposite side to go down another level. Open a mana chest there to acquire Vamp Fangs then ride the tiles back up. Return to the Save Journal and head left now, past two gold tiles that are blocked by black cubes. Turn right at the first opportunity and use the transport at the end of the path. In the next area, jump onto the purple blocks to get a Gold Metal then take the transport back to the previous area.

Once there, head left, past the black stacks until you see a gold tile. Before using it, head right to get a couple of items then step on the gold tile to ascend. On top, move forward to an intersection. Travel northwest across the wide platform then follow the upper path to a Blue Mana. Backtrack and head east down either path, as both lead to another platform. Once there, move past the gold tile to grab a Green Mana then ride the tile down. Go over to the adjacent tile and ride it up. On top, keep moving forward until you reach the world map. Travel north to Avenberry.

AVENBERRY

After a brief scene, move forward and extract the blocks so that you can enter the building. Delsus will find a chest inside. Press X to acquire 5,000 Cole. Extract the three mana orbs here then use the Save Tent. Ignore the Fairy portal for now unless you want to travel back here on foot from the Hidden Village. Leave the room and continue along the path until you reach a staircase. Transform so that you can get a Blue Mana from the chest beyond the column. Remain in your bunny state and go up the stairs. At the top, head left. Grab a Groovecube from underneath the column and get Cueparts at the end of the path. Run back under the column and continue heading north.

On the next screen, use the transport to warp to a path full of obstacles. Jump over the arrow tiles on the right to avoid sliding backwards. When you reach the stack of blocks, blast the two purple ones then create a stone step so that you can climb to the top. Transform to drop down safely. Enter the transport to warp to the top. Once there, open a mana chest near the stairs to obtain Dirk then use the teleport on the right to reach the Atelier entrance.

ATELIER IRIS

Go up the stairs to trigger a scene in which the group receives a holographic message from Iris. When you regain control, pass through the archway to a set of staircases. Take out the Growloon on the right then go downstairs and extract the books on the table to get to another Growloon. Open the chest to acquire a synthesizable weapon for Arlin, the Phantom Blade. You’ll find two more Growloons on the left. Take out the second one using D-Blast. Now return to the upper archway and ascend the other staircase. On top, extract a mana orb to pass through. Use the teleport at the end of the path to reach the next area.

Once there, head right. You’ll see two Growloons floating above a teleport that is out of reach. Jump up while using D-Blast to get them now or wait until you reach that area a little later. Ascend the staircase then extract the Growloon in the lower corner. Move forward and ascend the stairs on the left to reach a platform with a stone walkway overhead. Go to the lower left corner, transform and drop down to get 4 mana stones perched on white blocks. Drop down near the black blocks and ascend two flights of stairs so that you’re back on the platform under the blue walkway.

Ascend the staircase in the upper corner. At the top, head right. Smash some books to reach two chests. The mana chest contains Diselement and the other, a Zeilia Ring. Now backtrack to the stairs and go down three flights. Use the teleport on the bottom.

In the next area, extract some books to reach the gold orb behind them. Extract light from it then head right. Go past the stairs to get Passion Pants and a Green Mana from the pouch. Now return to the stairs and take out the two Growloons below. Descend another staircase then move forward to a chest with a Lightning Orb accessory. Extract some books to clear the path. Extract the red orb next to the transport then jump up to warp to the new area.

Climb the stack of books to get to the level above. Once there, extract a Growloon then ascend the stairs. Now carefully extract whichever books allow you to jump up to the next level. On top, head down to a chest containing the Dragon Claw weapon for Lita. You’ll see the blue walkway to the left. Hop down onto the first black block and create a stone step so that you can jump onto the walkway. Follow it all the way down to a new mana statue. Examine it to reveal Eital, the mana of Light. After joining the party, Eital gives you the Avoid Monsters ability. Watch a tutorial on it then take the stone walkway back to the previous platform.

Move forward to a transport and warp to the next area. Once there, follow the upper path to a chest that contains a Glowing Mana. Extract the blue crystal next to it as well as the black rectangle then return to the teleport and head south around a corner. At the intersection, head right. Extract some books and a red mana crystal to reach a chest containing Spirit Protect. Return to the intersection and extract some books to reveal a dark orb behind them. Extract it then move forward to a staircase. Ascend and continue along the path until you reach a Save Tent.

After using it, transform to reach the Star Piece under the table. Return to human form and continue down the left path to an area with several mana orbs sitting on tables. Extract them then ascend the stairs. Watch a brief scene at the top then move forward and extract a purple mana crystal near some books. Heal your party before approaching the large blue console on the platform.

BOSS >> BOOK EATER

Strategy: Take out the Totem first as it has the ability to heal the others. Take out the Legion next. Have Klein use Wide Area/Mark of Courage then have him act as healer for the remainder of the battle. The Book Eater has a reflective shield around it so mana spells will damage you rather than hurt the boss. Stick to your most powerful physical attacks such as Arlin’s Double, Lita’s Stone Blast, Delsus’ Power Shot, or Norn’s Telekinesis. The Book Eater can put your entire party to sleep then may follow with a hefty attack or poison. If Klein’s Cane is equipped, he’ll be able to resist the boss’ Sleep spells and use mana items to heal the others. If Klein dies, pummel the boss with offensive items until he perishes.

Iris appears after the fight, telling the group what they’ll need to do next. After she leaves, Arlin finds some Aroma Material. Watch a tutorial explaining how this material is used to transform your mana pals into more powerful versions. Not all mana characters can be transformed (see the Extras page to learn more). When the tutorial ends, return to the Save Tent and use it.

To exit the library quickly, return to the teleport and warp to the lower level. Transform into bunny state and drop down wherever you can. Hop around any black blocks and use the stairs when you need to. A scene takes over when you reach the archway and, regrettably, Arlin leaves the party. Descend the stairs to trigger another scene at the entrance. Leave the transport room to trigger a third scene involving Mull. When it ends, you’ll be back on the world map. Travel south until you reach a crossroad. Take the western route back to Kavoc.

KAVOC

Beggur is arguing with Marietta in the courtyard when you arrive. The party steps in to help.

BOSS >> SIR BEGGUR

Strategy: Though Beggur fights alone this time he now has the ability to knock out your characters for a couple of turns. Just pound him with physical attacks and he should fall in no time.

After the fight, you’ll be back at base. Zeldalia, speaking through Norn, asks that you meet her in Poto’s Forest and Marietta decides to join the party. Make sure to check her equipment and furnish her with a mana. As usual, check your Growloon Record in the bar and restock items if necessary. If you gave Veola any books earlier, check to see if she has new items to synthesize. When ready, exit Kavoc and go to Poto’s Forest.

POTO’S FOREST

If traveling on foot, stop by the furnace room in Iris’ Resting Place. If you completed Paco’s subquest earlier (where he asked for Bombs to fix the furnace), get a new mana stone from him while there. Continue to Poto’s Forest. Once there, go to Zeldalia’s house to trigger a scene involving Mull and the Ruby Prism. Afterwards, speak to Zeldalia to see if she’ll offer Klein the item or skill he passed up earlier. When ready, warp to Duran.

DURAN

Visit the Village Chief to trigger a scene during which the route to Tower of Marcus is unlocked. Save your game before leaving. On the world map, travel south past the Forest of Ocean Mist. At the crossroad, take either path as both lead to the same place.

TOWER OF MARCUS

Watch a brief scene then move forward to a ladder embedded in the wall. Climb up to trigger another scene that results in a battle against the Water Guardian and his two Vulture pals.

BOSS >> WATER GUARDIAN

Strategy: Physical attacks will not hurt this boss so unleash your best magic spells. Start off by wasting the two Vultures who can get tedious if left alive for too long. The Water Guardian’s attacks hit hard, so Klein will need to heal from time to time. When he’s not healing, have him use Power Item/Lightning Rod to do 250+ damage. Have Delsus use Dark Shot. If you have the Devil Bow equipped on him, it may hit twice. Marietta should use Thunder God and heal others when Klein cannot. Lita’s Force Blast is very effective as are Norn’s regular attacks, assuming her staff skill is high.

After a follow-up scene, head west and use the Save Tent. When healed and ready, leave the tent and climb the green ladder on the right. Move east to engage the second Guardian.

BOSS >> WIND GUARDIAN

Strategy: As usual, take care of the underling first. The Mega Virium has high defense, attack, and HP, so it will take a few turns to dispose of him. Once he’s gone, focus on the Wind Guardian, who is more deadly than her Water counterpart. She’s quick and uses an attack called Gnash, which hits the entire party for medium damage. Again, only magic attacks can hurt the Guardian, so have Delsus use Dark Shot and Lita use Force Blast. Norn should just attack with her cane. Avoid using Thunder God with Marietta, as the skill will replenish the boss. Have her act as your healer instead. Have Klein use Power Item with anything except Lightning Rod.

Once the boss is defeated, go down and use the Save Tent if you need to; otherwise, head east and create a stone step to jump over the blocks. Climb the ladder on the other side. On top, create another step and head west to meet the next Guardian.

BOSS >> FIRE GUARDIAN

Strategy: The boss comes with two Cerberus’, which are the biggest threats. If they both attack the same person, that person may not survive the Fire Guardian’s first attack unless Delsus uses Feint Shot. Focus on the Cerberus’ while Klein and Marietta heal. Again, only magic works against the boss but fire-based spells will replenish her, so avoid using any. The Guardian uses Tera Fire, which will hit you hard. If Klein gets a free turn, have him use Power Item/Bomb Ice to do 200+ damage. Lita’s Force Blast and Norn’s staff attacks should take her out eventually. Just remember to heal when anyone’s HP gets too low.

After the battle, the party learns it will need another orb to fight the last Guardian, so climb down and exit the tower. Travel back to Duran.

DURAN

Upon your arrival, Faith tells the group that the final orb can be found in a fort. Since the only one we know about is Fort Galga, that’s were we’re headed next. Use the Fairy portal in town if you want to get to the fort using the Kavoc route. To reach the fort from Duran, take the eastern route through Nelvia.

FORT GALGA

Move forward to trigger a scene involving Beggur, who has obtained the orb you need. Beggur spots the group and comes down to fight.

BOSS >> SIR BEGGUR

Strategy: This battle is just like the last one. Beggur will be alone and use his knockout skill. Just attack him regularly and he should fall quickly.

The scene continues afterwards. When you regain control, climb the ladders up ahead. Open the chest on top to get the Pyramod. Before leaving the fort, get the two chests you could not reach before. First, climb the ladder next to the Save Tent. Jump onto the wall so that you’re facing the chest below. Transform and drop down to obtain an Ankh accessory. Do the same thing on the right side to get a Glowing Mana. Exit Fort Galga and head back to the Tower of Marcus.

TOWER OF MARCUS

Use the Save Tent before climbing up the tower. Go to the 4th statue you left earlier to engage the Earth Guardian.

BOSS >> EARTH GUARDIAN

Strategy: The Earth Guardian comes with a Supreme Wolf and two Phantoms. Kill the Wolf before he summons more then focus on the Phantoms. Once the Earth Guardian is by itself, prepare to be hit hard and heal when necessary. As usual, you’ll need to use magic skills but none that are earth-related (Meteor for example). Use Delsus’ Dark Shot, Marietta’s Thunder God, Lita’s Force Blast, etc. As long as you have Heal Bulbs, you shouldn’t lose this fight.

Go back to the Camp tile to heal if you need to; otherwise, climb up the ladder on the right. On top, you’ll see a blue bridge. Jump over the block to get on it. Move forward to a chest that contains a Groovecube then open the mana chest on the other side to acquire Heaven Geode. Climb the ladder on the right. You’ll find a Save Journal on top. Use it before ascending the next ladder. Watch a scene, during which you’ll receive Gurgu’s Cane then battle Quetzalcoatl.

BOSS >> QUETZALCOATL

Strategy: Start by having Klein use Wide Item with Mark of Courage to increase your party’s offense. Delsus’ regular attacks will do more than Power Shot in this fight, especially if he has the Devil Bow equipped. When Klein is not healing, have him use Power Item with Meteor. Like Delsus, Marietta’s regular attacks do more than her skills. Lita’s Stone Blast and Norn’s Telekinesis are helpful if leveled up. Quetzalcoatl uses four different attacks: one that hits the entire party for minimal damage, one that hits a character for medium damage, one that Poisons and Curses the party, and one that will devastate you. Try to break his two-turn attack or use the time to replenish everyone’s health with Cure Jar. If the boss connects, he’ll take off about 150 HP from each character, and if anyone is still poisoned they may be killed off.

After defeating the boss, climb back down the tower and exit to the world map. Note that you can equip Gurgu’s Cane on either Klein or Norn, however the weapon is not synthesizable. Travel back to Kavoc by whatever means you like.

KAVOC

Go back to base to trigger a scene where a boy drops off a note from Beggur. He wants you to meet him at the Outdoor Theatre. Travel there when ready.

OUTDOOR THEATRE

Beggur’s crew attacks as soon as you enter.

BOSS >> TONTA, NEUN, EIN & ZWEI

Strategy: Do not underestimate this quartet. They are much harder to defeat than you would expect. Take out Tonta (the pig) first so that it stops blocking and then take out Neun, the healer. The pig can knock your characters down, so watch out. Have Klein use Power Item with Meteor to blast the entire group as often as you can. Delsus’ Power Shot sometimes works to break Neun’s healing spells. Once they’re gone, hit the two knights with your strongest skills. They both hit the entire party for moderate damage, so have Klein use Wide Item/Heal Jar or Heal Bulb when your HP is drained.

After defeating his loyalists, Beggur attacks.

BOSS >> SIR BEGGUR

Strategy: Beggur has a new attack called Dragonlord Apocalypse. It takes two turns to pull off but, if successful, will hit your party for 80+ HP. He’ll also use it in consecutive turns, so hopefully you have enough Heal Jars and Heal Bulbs left. The two soldiers don’t hit hard, so it should be pretty easy to kill them using basic attacks. Have Delsus pelt Beggur with Power Shot or Dark Shot, whichever he is most proficient at. Marietta’s regular attacks work nicely. Lita’s speedy claw attacks will peck away at him or just use Stone Blast. Have Norn use Magic Shield on everyone to lessen the damage from Beggur’s two-turn whammy. Keep your health up and you’ll do just fine.

Watch the scene that follows then return to Kavoc.

KAVOC

When you enter Kavoc, you’ll overhear Finn telling the locals that the mine has reopened in Arcose. When ready, travel to Arcose.

ARCOSE

After watching some folks depart for the mine opening festival, visit Blaire in her bakery. She’ll mention something about a creature in the lava caves. Outside, you’ll notice that the Fairy portal is currently out of service. When ready, leave Arcose and travel northwest to the mine.

MINE / RURONA’S REMEDY SEARCH

Watch a scene showing the mining device being turned on then quickly failing. It seems a Fire Salamander has cursed the place, turning everything it sees into stone. Try to exit the mine and you’ll bump into Rurona, who says she’ll give you the remedy if you help her find the right ingredients. There are 4 in all, with the first one being ‘Soot’.

Start by visiting Zeldalia in Poto’s Forest. Since the Fairy transport is out of service, you’ll have to get there on foot. In case you forgot, it’s north of the mine. You’ll see a scene in Zeldalia’s house, during which you’ll acquire the Soot and receive a clue on where to find the 2nd ingredient, ‘A Bald Man’s Hair’. You’ll find it in Kavoc but since Zeldalia’s Fairy transport is also out of service, you must travel back on foot. Go through Iris’ Resting Place then take the boat across to the Kavoc region.

In Kavoc, go visit Hagel in the weapon’s shop to trigger a scene. When it ends, you’ll have the 2nd ingredient and be given a clue as to where to find the third, ‘A Feather From a Red Chicken’. Thankfully, the portal in Veola’s magic shop is working. Use it to warp to Duran.

Once there, go to the back of the village and chase the red chicken until you snatch one of its feathers. Afterwards, Rurona mentions the final ingredient, a ‘Bat’s Wing,’ and suggests going to the Tower of Airfen to find one. Do as she says.

As soon as you enter the tower, Rurona summons a bat-like creature that you must fight to get its wing.

BOSS >> BAAL

Strategy: Baal can be tough due to his variety of skills. He uses Soul Eater to drain your MP and Shadow Edge to batter your HP. He also casts Howling, which inflicts Curse on the party, thus preventing you from healing unless you remove the status ailment. Baal also counters your attacks. Start with Klein using Mark of Weakness to diminish Baal’s defense then have Delsus and Marietta attack normally. Lita should use Stone Blast and Norn should use Telekinesis, which is particularly effective in this fight. It goes without saying that you need to keep everyone’s health up throughout this fight.

Once Baal is dead, Rurona will give you a new mana item called Moveagain, which cures petrifaction. Now that you have it, head back to Arcose. Stock up and save in town then travel to the Valiant Path.

VALIANT PATH

You’ll hear a screeching noise as soon as you arrive. Put Barrier on to avoid any burns then follow the lava paths north until you reach a Growloon. Before you can extract it, a battle occurs.

BOSS >> BASILORD

Strategy: Although it seems like you’re up against many foes, you can take out most of the little Basilisk’s on your first turn. Using Klein’s Power Item skill with Meteor might take out all of them. Once the little guys are gone, you can focus on Basilord. The boss has two attacks to be concerned with: Stone Breath, a high damage attack that can petrify you, and Shadow Edge. When he’s getting ready to use Stone Breath, do anything that will break his skill – Lita’s Jump Kick or Force Blast, Delsus’ Power Shot, Norn’s Telekinesis, etc. Klein should stick to healing, with Marietta backing him up when she’s not attacking.

After defeating the boss, you’ll receive the Reptile Egg. Klein wants to take it to the Mana Chiefs but before doing that, go back to the mine. Extract the Growloon on your way out.

MINE

After telling Hute the curse has been lifted, she gives you 5 Gold Legiens. You’ll need a functioning Fairy transport to reach the Land of Mana, so start heading to one via Poto’s Forest. As soon as you enter Iris’ Resting Place, you’ll trigger a scene involving Mull and end up back at Zeldalia’s house. In the morning, leave and continue to the Land of Mana.

LAND OF MANA

Watch a scene, in which you’ll be shown a picture of a furnace you need to use. If you recall, it’s the one inside Alexia Cave. Go there when you want to advance the story.

ALEXIA CAVE

Return to the room where you fought the Elder Vilum, which is south of the Save Tent. If you haven’t been back here between that trip and now, you’ll find the icy room teeming with Growloons. Take them out as you make your way down to the furnace mechanism on the lower level. Once there, Klein will insert the Primal Gem and the door below will open. Go down the new passageway.

Inside, you’ll see a Growloon to the southwest. Use D-Blast to kill it then extract one further east, near a black slab that Klein cannot decipher. Return to the entrance and extract some water crystals to clear the upper path. Keep moving forward until you slide down some ice. Approach the wall in the upper corner to trigger a scene, wherein the group discovers Pamela’s missing body.

When you regain control, head south past the stone marker, and take out another Growloon. Pass under the ice bridge and continue forward to another Growloon. There’s a pouch further ahead containing 850 Cole. After getting it, head northeast and go halfway up the stairs. Jump onto the ice on the right and open the mana chest on top. It contains Refractor. Cross the bridge and slide down to trigger a scene in front of a large hole. When it ends, head south towards the tall stack of blocks with a chest on top.

Transform to get the Frozen Ice behind the stone marker then ascend some steps further north. Slide down and head south. Stand on the short black tile that is closest to the chest then use D-Blast while jumping to get rid of the purple block and blue crystal that are supporting the chest. Create a stone step so that you can open it and acquire a Zelia Ring. Now exit the room from the same way you entered.

Climb the steps to the left of the Save Tent and approach the big black boulder to trigger a scene. After Klein fills in the hole below, head back to Arcose.

ARCOSE

Tell Pamela you found her body and go back to Alexia Cave with her.

ALEXIA CAVE

Go down to the wall where Pamela’s body is encased to trigger a scene. When you regain control, examine each of the stone markers (lithographs) in the room so that Pamela tells you what they say. After translating all six of them, examine the black slab. If successful, Klein will read the full message out loud and the mana will start to flow again. If he cannot read it, you missed one of the markers so run around and find it.

Upon exiting Alexia Cave, you’ll wrap things up with Pamela. Make your way back to Arcose and use the repaired Fairy transport to warp to the Land of Mana.

LAND OF MANA

A scene transpires, during which the route to Silencia is unlocked for you. View directions if you wish; otherwise use the Save Tent and exit to the world map. Travel north to a crossroad then head west around the lake. Continue south until you reach your destination.

SILENCIA

Pretty much everything in Silencia extractable, so stock up on elements while here. Make sure to collect Holy mana from any black statues you see. After you’ve cleared the foyer, go upstairs. Extract objects on the platform then go up another flight of stairs to a transport. Warp to a ledge where you can extract a gold mana object then use the transport to get back to the previous area. Go downstairs and ride the transport at the bottom.

On this platform you’ll see two sets of stairs. Ascend the stairs on the right, extracting some rocks to clear the path. Continue forward to a transport. Warp to a platform where you can grab a cluster of mana stones on the left. Take the transport on the far right to a new area. Grab 2 pouches filled with Cole then warp back. Now use the center transport to return to the platform with the staircases.

Descend the stairs on the right to find a Save Journal. After using it, travel north until you reach a chest flanked by two mana orbs. Open it to receive the Dilvine weapon for Marietta. Unless she has something fabulous equipped right now, I suggest giving her the new sword. Return to the Save Journal and take the southeastern stairs down to a teleport pad. Ride it then go up the steps to trigger a scene in which you’ll have to battle three Legions.

BOSS >> LEGIONS x 3

Strategy: Even though it’s a forced fight, these guys do not really warrant a boss heading. They shouldn’t be too difficult to eliminate if you use Klein’s Power Item with Meteor and Lita’s Force Blast. Marietta’s new weapon will come in handy, too. The Legions mostly attack using Man Eater and Shadow Edge skills but they’re not very fast. Just keep an eye on your health and they’ll be gone in no time.

After the battle, a little creature befriends Klein and gives him the ability to fly, which means you can now reach all of those treasures you’ve been passing up throughout the game. Watch a tutorial on Flight, then go up the stairs on the left. Continue up a second flight of stairs to a transport. Use it then go down to the next area.

Descend some stairs that are flanked by statues and continue forward to some flames. Carefully extract them (or use Barrier to avoid them) then Transform and hop down, hugging the edge of the blue staircase. At the bottom, return to human form and extract or blast the mana orbs under the stairs to free the path. Transform again to pass under and reach the platform beyond. Once there, use your Flight ability on the northeastern stairs so that your altitude increases. When you are high enough, you can go up the blue staircase to open the chest on top. It contains a Glowing Mana. After getting it, fly back down and continue up the northeastern stairs to a teleport pad. Ride it to the next area.

Extract 4 mana orbs sitting atop pedestals then ascend the stairs on the right. Create a stone step so that you can get onto the black blocks above. You’ll being standing on the lip of a square with 2 transports and a bunch of arrow boxes pointing in different directions. Avoid any route that slides you into either transport or you’ll end up back at the beginning of this area. Instead, strategically place stone steps or fly so that you only land on arrows that will lead you to the platform behind this puzzle. Once you’re on the other side, extract some rocks to get to the transport above. After warping to the next area, D-Blast one of the purple blocks so that you can fly across the arrow tiles. Ride the transport on the lower landing.

You’ll arrive in an area with four staircases. The lower left one leads to a mana orb you can extract and the upper left leads to a Jade Mana. The lower right leads to a chest containing the Galgazit Bow for Delsus, the only weapon he can synthesize. Finally, the upper right stairs leads to a mana chest containing Uroborus. After getting all of the loot, go up the center path to a door. Enter to trigger a scene.

When you regain control, move forward into a large room. Pick up a couple of mana stones on the floor then continue north up two flights of stairs to a pair of birds. Examine the bird on the right so that Klein places the Reptile Egg in its mouth. Approach the green object in the center to trigger another scene, in which you’ll receive the Ruby Prism. After giving it to Lita, she’ll acquire her final skill, Pale Wing. When you gain control, hop onto the shelves behind the birds to get a couple of mana stones. Afterwards, exit Silencia. When you reach the world map, use the Gates of Change to get to the Tower of Airfen.

TOWER OF AIRFEN

Upon arriving, you’ll witness Kavoc in flames and see a scene with Arlin in the snowfields. When you regain control, leave the tower and head back to Kavoc. While passing through Lapis Woods, climb up the tree to take out a Growloon that has been hiding in it and use Flight while standing on the boulders near the Kavoc entrance to reach a Magic Ankh over on the right.

KAVOC

Indeed, Growloons and other creatures have invaded the city. Help the locals fight a few. Afterwards, you’ll learn that Beggur is trapped in the sewers. Before dealing with him, get the Growloons in the courtyard by jumping onto the roof of the tavern and flying over to them. Start with the one in the ladder tower on the left then fly down to the lower left corner where the fish barrel is. After extracting the Growloon there, fly to the right and land on the roof next to the grocery store. You’ll find a mana chest there containing Divine Shield. Now fly to the stone ledge with the flowerpot. After landing, walk across the wooden roof and extract the Growloon there.

To get the Growloon that is floating in the middle of the courtyard, enter the bar then exit to find the crates and barrels reset in their normal positions. Strategically extract a few to create a staircase so that you can reach that pesky Growloon. Afterwards, stop by base to rest and save. You’ll notice that the mana bath is gone since it’s no longer necessary. Pick up some Passion Pants next to Delsus and finish up whatever business you have then exit the base. Walk across the stone bridge on the right to extract one more Growloon.

When ready, go to the upper part of town. You’ll find that Veola is still conducting business in her magic shop but the Fairy portal is out of service. Exit and climb to the top of the church. Fly over to the roof on the left and then fly over to the roof near the magic shop to get a Gear Sans-gear. Afterwards, talk to the people gathered inside the church then head down into the sewers.

Move forward from the sewer entrance. When you reach the corner, fly over to the ledge and then create a stone step to get the Gold Legien on top of the black blocks. Fly back across and take out the Growloon next to the purple blocks. Backtrack to the entrance and head south towards the electric pit. Keep moving until a scene takes over. It appears Beggur needs some help warding off three Bugbears. These guys should be pretty easy to kill using basic attacks.

After the fight, Beggur tells you to find the boss. Return to the first intersection and go down to the water’s edge. Take out a Growloon on the eastern walkway. Instead of finding the usual barrels and crates up ahead, you’ll find a Growloon. Approach it to trigger a scene.

BOSS >> BARONESS

Strategy: Have Klein start off by using Power Item/Meteor to take out most of the enemies. The Mull Beasts are pretty fast. They have an attack called Slam, which is similar to Arlin’s Double and hits for good damage, so watch out for that. Once the other enemies are defeated, the Baroness will use Quick, which allows her to attack twice in a row. Have Klein counter this with Power Item/Aeroangel and she’ll be as good as gone. The rest of the gang should attack with their best skills, with Marietta filling in for healing duties.

After the battle, Beggur tells you he’s seen Mull in Iris’ Resting Place… so you know where you’re going next. Before leaving town, capture three more Growloons in the sewers – one near the church exit, one near the grocery store exit, and one in the alcove leading to Hidden Village. In case you were wondering, the Growloon Record book is not displayed in Norman’s bar right now but it’ll be back there later.

Now that Kavoc has basically returned to normal, you can do some shopping and synthesizing. This is also a good time to revisit places with your new flying ability and to complete any subquests you may have started. See the section below if you are interested in detours. [For sidequests, refer to the Extras page.] When you’re ready to advance the story, go to Iris’ Resting Place.

FLYING AROUND & OTHER STUFF (OPTIONAL)

PUNI GOD:
Fly east to pick up a pouch containing Cole, then fly north to find a Dark Mana.

HIDDEN VILLAGE:
Fly over to the chest on the ledge to get a Warlord Support accessory. If you haven’t completed the Chronolex yet, speak to Totopop about it then go back to Kavoc and tell Veola what you’ve learned.

PATH OF THE HEAVENS:
The chest on top of the rectangular slab in the northwest corner contains Dragon Fangs. To reach it, extract stones from the stack opposite the chest then create a step so that you have enough altitude to fly over. Head northeast to the next area. Ride the transports up to the Save Journal then go east to the stack of purple blocks. Blast two of them then create a stone step. Jump on top and use Flight to get the Star Piece on the right. Fly to the left to reach two chests containing an Ankh and a Para Sword weapon for Marietta.

KA LUDA’S PLAYGROUND:
Starting from the eastern exit, fly to the left to reach a chest containing Cole. Climb the ladder then head left along the lower ledge until you can’t go any farther. Transform to move between the pillars and reach three chests. Two contain Glowing Mana. The third contains a Damn Ring.

FLAWLESS MARVEL:
Starting at the entrance, fly west then north, up to a chest containing the Divine Cane, a synthesizable weapon for Klein.

DURAN:
Go up to the white cat’s house and fly onto the roof to get 3 mana stones (Blue, Green, & Glowing).

FOREST OF OCEAN MIST:
Fly over the fountain to get a Gold Mana then use the transport. In the floating forest area, fly southwest to a small platform with a Phoenix Quill. After getting it, fly back towards the entrance and then head east. Climb down the short ladder and move forward to a thin bridge on the left. Transform to get the Blue Mana on the other side then hop back across. Fly all the way to the right until you see a chest covered in purple and black blocks. Raise your altitude to reach the chest and obtain Siglis Breath, a synthesizable accessory.

GARDEN OF ETERNITY:
Starting from the Ocean Mist entrance, move forward until you reach a ledge near a brown bush. Create a stone step to reach the pouch on top. It contains a Prismoon. From here, use Flight to ascend, traveling northeast until you see a green pouch within a cluster of bushes. Get a Star Prism from it then return to the lower entrance. Move forward to the next screen. Keeping going until you reach a pouch containing another Star Prism then go behind the bushes up ahead. When you reach the hole on top, fly southeast to a patch of bushes with 3 pouches containing Star Prisms. Fly northeast from here, to the wide grass. Head north to the next screen. Grab a Prismoon from the pouch at the end then fly west to get to Pattote’s kiosk. Grab a Prismoon from the pouch just below him.

TOWER OF MARCUS:
Get an Evil Sigil and Cueparts off the two pillars near the Save Tent by flying down onto them.

CLEFT OF NELVIA:
At the bottom of the Cleft, just before reaching the Spring, fly to the ledge on the far right. Open the chest to get a Jade Mana. Go down to the spring and fly over to the grassy knoll on the right to collect a hidden Palm Fish. The Palm Fish regenerates so collect as many as you want.

ARCOSE:
Go up to the anchor. Create a stone step then jump onto the wall. Fly over to the Blue Mana on the left.

VALIANT PATH:
Fly north from the entrance to reach a mana chest containing Basilisk Eye. Fly further north to pick up 2 Red Manas and extract a Growloon.

ALEXIA CAVE:
Fly east from the entrance to the next screen. Go up to the lava pit and fly off the cliff to a chest below. Open it for a Gold Mana then enter the doorway. Pick up a Silver Mana and another one from the pouch then fly across to the path. Head east until you see a blue object sitting in the spiky terrain below. Fly over it to acquire an Ice Orb.

OUTDOOR THEATRE:
Fly over the barriers to reach 2 pouches on stage. They contain Blue and Silver Manas.

LAKE FORWEL:
Fly over to the 3 islands to grab some items on the ground.

COLLECTOR’S CARAVAN:
Reach the Jade and Gold Manas in the tree by using the stone faces as steps. Also, Chef Oscar will probably be stationed there.

POTO’S FOREST:
The chest on top of the Resting Place exit contains an Angel Feather. Above it, you’ll find a Red Mana. In the trees to the east, there’s a chest containing a Green Mana. Go to the Animal Path side and fly east along the riverfront to a pouch containing a Red Mana. On the western side of the river, there’s a pouch containing a Glowing Mana. You can also collect some Pure Water there.

IRIS’ RESTING PLACE

As soon as you enter, you’ll see a scene between Mull and Arlin. When it ends, the blue hologram on the floor will turn into a special green portal and you’ll be whisked away to the Gates of Change. Use the Save Tent there then exit to the world map. Travel north around the hills to reach Selk’s Cry.

SELK’S CRY

Watch a scene then go downstairs. Ignore the intersection and move to the end of the path to find a chest containing a Blue Mana. Return to the intersection and descend the first part of the stairs. Fly over the spiky terrain on the left to get a Star Prism then fly back across and continue down the stairs.

When you reach the lava, fly to the platform next to the stairs. Extract the huge boulder on top to reveal a chest. It contains a Devil’s Eye. Now transform into the bunny and go around the blue column. Follow the secret passageway up to an area with a chest sitting on a column. Create a step so that you can extract the spikes off the left ledge then jump up. Fly over to the chest to get a Crimson Mana then fly back towards the ledges. Raise your altitude a few feet so that you can reach the chest in the upper alcove on the right. It contains Invisible Gear. Fly back towards the ledges on the left and take out a Growloon. Open the chest it was blocking to receive a Silver Mana. Now return to the lava area below. Once there, fly over the lava gap and head west to the next screen.

Outside, head southwest. Keep going until you reach a chest near the pond on the left. It contains an Angel Feather. Use the Fairy transport next to it if you have business to attend to (this will be one of your final opportunities to do so); otherwise fly across to the Growloon. After capturing it, fly northeast to a rock island. Create a stone step so that you can grab some mana stones and extract another Growloon. Fly further north to a tiny island. Open the chest there to receive a DevilSwordGram weapon. Fly west from this island to another with a Growloon and some mana stones on top. The chest contains a Gold Mana. Continue flying north and land where all of the colorful flowers are.

Travel east to find a couple of mana stones next to an alcove with a ball of light, a chest, and a Growloon that are not reachable from here. Fly over the flowers and land on the purple path. After finding another mana stone on the ground, travel northwest, past the black door, to extract a Growloon in the corner. Afterwards, approach the black door to trigger a scene. When it ends, enter Mull’s castle.

MULL’S CASTLE

The scene continues inside in front of an electric barrier. When you regain control, head left and go through the hole in the wall. Follow the corridor past another electric barrier to a Save Tent. After using it, transform and drop down the hole next to the tent. Follow the path until you reach a radiant orb. Approaching it causes an earthquake. Jump over and continue up the stairs. Extract the Growloon on top then drop/fly off the ledge to land near the Save Tent. Now return to the entrance of the castle.

Once there, descend the stairs and head east down another flight of stairs. You’ll pass a radiant orb that is unreachable. Keep moving forward, past another electric barrier, to a radiant orb at the end of the path. Approach it to trigger a brief scene then go back to the electric barrier you just passed. Create a stone step next to it to reach the staircase above. Extract a Growloon on top then go further to trigger a scene in front of two pedestals. When you regain control, stand directly above the radiant orb in the niche below. Select Flight then slowly descend by pressing the square button repeatedly to decrease your altitude. When you are level with the orb, land next it to trigger a scene. If you overshoot, you’ll land on the lower stairs and have to climb back up.

Afterwards, transform and drop down to the ground. Head right to see that the electric barrier is gone. Enter the new passageway and move forward until you reach the alcove you saw from outside. Approach the orb to trigger a scene then extract the Growloon and open the chest to receive some Cole. Now go back to the Save Tent area to find that the electric barrier there is also gone. Descend the stairs and move forward until you reach the final radiant orb. When you regain control, save your game then approach the castle’s entrance to trigger a scene. When ready, enter to face Mull – who is not nearly as clever as he thinks…

BOSS >> AMALGAM

Strategy: This fight will be long and brutal if your characters have limited speed. Amalgam has a variety of attacks including Sky Angel (moderate damage) and Defaulter (moderate damage and removes any positive attributes you have). His deadliest are Ether Light (a 2-turn attack that causes Poison, Paralysis, and Sleep on the party), Elemental Extraction (hits for 100 damage or instantly kills), and Reason’s Requiem (reduces your party’s health to single digits and knocks them down). Klein should start with Wide Item/Mark of Courage to raise attack stats. On occasion, Delsus uses Feint Shot to stop some of Amalgam’s attacks, which is literally a lifesaver. If Amalgam is prepping a two-turn attack, have Delsus use Power Shot to try to break it. Have Marietta attack normally. Lita should use her best skill (Rock Smash, Stone Blast, etc.), as should Norn. Use as many Power Item/Heal Bulbs as you need to – don’t wait or you might die. Use Newlife if Amalgam kills someone. If Klein dies, use Nectar to revive him. Keep recasting Mark of Courage whenever it runs out or use Power Item/Dragon Gem for significant damage. Power Item with Lightning Rod works pretty well, also. Just keep pace and the boss will eventually fall.

After beating the final boss, sit back and watch the wrap-up scenes. If your game does not lock up before the credits roll (apparently this happens frequently), you’ll be given the choice to save bonus data. Do so if you want to continue to the bonus dungeon and/or complete sidequests, synthesizing, etc.

BONUS SECTION (OPTIONAL)

Assuming you saved ‘bonus data’ after beating the boss, reload your game and leave Mull’s Castle. Use the Fairy portal outside to return to Kavoc. Once there, enter your base and Delsus will mention a new dungeon where an old friend has been seen. When ready, travel to Ka Luda’s Playground and fly over the shrubbery on the left to find a transport you can land on. Warp to a Gates of Change chamber and use the Save Tent inside. Exit to the world map and follow the path to Mull’s Dungeon.

MULL’S DUNGEON

Move forward and take out the Growloon hiding in the niche below. Jump down and enter the yellow hole on the right to trigger a scene. When it ends, Arlin and Luplus, the mana of Time, will join your party. Make sure to equip Arlin and distribute the 30 skill points he’s collected since he’s been away. Remember to give Luplus gifts as well. When finished, fly up to the square platform to grab a Green Mana then use D-Blast to kill the Growloon up ahead. Fly to the southeast corner to get mana stones off of 3 platforms then fly north to a transport. Before using it, fly northwest to grab a Black Mana and Warlord Support accessory sitting on two platforms. Use D-Blast to kill the floating Growloon there then return to the transport. Use it to warp to a yellow area.

Go all the way up the yellow ramp then head right. Use Barrier to cross the electricity safely. Grab a couple of mana stones there then go up the side path and grab a third. Return to the intersection below and head west. At the bottom, blast a purple block then create step so that you can jump over to the right side. Go across the electric pit towards the stack of purple blocks. Extract some arrow tiles then place a step so that you can extract the spikes on top. Climb up and grab a Yellow Mana. Fly to the pillar next to it to get a Blue Mana then fly back to the electricity below. Cross it to reach the transport on top of a green slab. Warp to a blue area.

Extract objects on the landing then fly to the left. Land on the blue platform where you can extract a Growloon and collect more mana stones. Jump off the edge to the path below. Put Barrier on to protect you from explosive plates scattered throughout this area then head east down the blue steps, picking up mana stones as you go. At the very bottom, you’ll find a transport on another green slab. Warp to a purple area.

Move forward along the purple path, extracting objects as necessary to pass through. When you reach the 3-way intersection, follow the lower left path down to a cluster of mana stones then head back up. Take the upper path now to a series of ledges with bomb plates where you’ll need to create steps to get up. Extract a Growloon on top then continue down the path to a teleport on another green slab. Warp to a red area.

Grab 4 mana stones from the platform up ahead then head southwest along the red path until you reach a Growloon. Extract it then transform and drop down onto the thin ledge below. Follow it west to a Red Mana and extract the bronze objects to collect some evil elements. Hop down and extract some arrow tiles then make a choice: Either backtrack to the 3-way intersection in the previous area from here or use the transport up ahead to pass through the yellow and blue areas to get back to the purple intersection. Once you’re back at the purple intersection, follow the lower right path to a transport. Warp to the next area.

CRYSTAL HALL

Extract the blue and red crystals on the left and talk to Flay before riding the transport up ahead. You’ll arrive on a tree-lined platform with a Save Journal and more friendly mana creatures. After saving your game, follow the eastern path to find Pattote selling his wares. Buy what you need then head south to a chest containing a Sans Gear item. The transport next to it takes you back to Fairyworld. Use it if you feel like visiting other places in the world; otherwise return to the Save Journal and head west. Examine the barrel to get a mana stone then head south to a chest containing Infinite Wings. Return to the Save Journal and head north. Extract the huge boulder on top to reveal a transport. Before using it, follow the left and right paths to collect some fire and light elements from some bombs and lamps. When ready, warp to the next area.

LAND OF ORIGIN

Head east past the transport to a mana chest containing Laruba Key then take the southern path to the next screen. Extract the crystal wedged inside the black blocks then return to the previous area. Use the transport on the right to warp to the top. Once there, fly over to the platform on the left to find another transport. Warp to a blue cavern.

Go up the stairs on the right to a platform with evil statues. After extracting them, continue up the stairs to a large boulder. Extract it to reveal another transport. Ride it to a platform filled with mushrooms. Extract them then descend the stairs. When you reach the intersection, go down the stairs on the left to another transport. Ride it then move across some floating stones, extracting any objects that impede your progress. At the bottom, pick up some mana stones and open a chest to receive the Eden Blade, a synthesizable weapon for Arlin. Extract the boulder on top to access another mana stone then backtrack to the transport. Warp to the previous area and return to the intersection.

Once there, ascend the stairs on the right to reach a platform filled with plants and mana stones. Take the stairs there down to a Time orb that you can extract. From here, descend the western staircase to get a Blue Mana then climb back up and ascend the eastern stairs. Extract some orbs and collect more mana stones before riding the transport on top.

In the next area, go upstairs to a chest containing a Tiny Gear then extract some objects to pass through. Grab more mana stones and extract the crystals on top then continue up to a platform with three torches. Extract them for fire if you need some then keep going until you reach a crossroad. Descend the stairs to reach a platform with more mana stones and crystals then go back up. Travel east to a transport. Use it to reach the next area.

Go up the steps to find a Save Journal on top of a mushroom. After using it, extract the journal and the mushroom then ride the transport. In the new area, follow the stairs up to a chest containing the Ebony Claw, a synthesizable weapon for Lita. Continue up the stairs to an intersection. Go downstairs to a platform with mana stones. Further down, you’ll find a transport that warps you back to the platform flanked by evil statues near the Crystal Hall entrance. Ignore it for now. Instead, continue up the stairs to a second intersection. If you head west, you’ll find a transport that warps you back to the Save Journal, which would be wise to use again. Fully heal your party members and equip them with gear that maximizes speed and defense. When ready, follow the eastern path up to 2 Growloons. Extract them then use the transport. As soon as you arrive in the new area, you’ll be thrown into battle against three Golden Pigs.

BOSS >> GOLDEN PIGS

Strategy: These little pigs are extremely quick and may pound you to death before you even get a chance to respond. Their Charge attacks can hit up to four times in a row, taking off most of a character’s HP if their defense is low. Their second attack, Hyper Charge, is even worse as it hits for 90+ damage and knocks you out for a few rounds. It goes without saying that you need to keep Klein alive to act as healer for as long as possible. If he dies, have Marietta fill in for healing duties. Arlin’s Bulls-Eye and Lita’s Stone or Meteor Blast attacks are effective, due to the fact that they’re away from the pigs’ slam fest for a turn. Klein’s Power Item with Dragon Gem is very effective, assuming he gets a chance to use it. Norn’s Magic Shield will improve each character’s defense and if Turn 2 Candy is leveled up, she may be able to get a rare Amalgam Candy from one of them. Poisoning the pigs by tossing items on them is also helpful. In the end, I beat these pigs with only Arlin left standing, so just keep at it until they fall.

After defeating the trio, you’ll receive Blaire’s Panty (!) and hear the legend of a treasure-hiding pig. I assume this means that you can fight them again to get ‘real’ treasures, but I did not attempt to. When you’re ready to leave, use the transport on the right to warp to the lower level. Backtrack to the Crystal Hall and use the Fairy portal in the southeast corner to go to Arcose.

Visit the bakery to witness Blaire’s embarrassment then warp to Kavoc. Check your Growloon Record in the bar one last time. If you followed this walkthrough, you will have killed 100 Growloons, receiving the title of Legendary Galgazit along with 32,400 Cole and a Jade Mana. Now, if you want to fight Amalgam again, you’ll see an additional scene with Mull and Arlin.

END WALKTHROUGH
